@LucyLoohoo It is a pleasure working with them. Most open mics don't have a band, so if you don't play an instrument, it is hard to participate. They can do karaoke but that isn't the same. We furnish a four piece band for folks that want accompaniment, which most do. This gives people who only sing, a chance to sing with a band. Much better than karaoke.

@LiterateHiker It will make one super tense. I was driving through north texas years ago, doing 65 or so on a two lane road. All of a sudden I went into a slide. There was a car coming in the other lane coming toward me and a car sitting on the side of the road, so l tried to steer toward the parked car, the lesser of two evils so to speak. He must have seen me coming and pulled out just as l got to where he was sitting. I came to a stop where he had been sitting. I had hit black ice. The highway did not change in appearance. It looked dry as a bone. I had to sit there for a bit and get my shit together. Scary stuff.

Don't drive like an asshole around big trucks. This was in Ohio.

@creative51 That is what I did from 25 until my mid 50's. Then I got a real job for 11 years, got let go, and retired with my SS and a 401K, and now I play every tuesday with a full band, and a few times a month with an acoustic trio. And while l made a living playing all those years with the exception of a total of about three years spread out over that time, l definitely didn't get rich, but I loved it and still do. I just don't want to go on the road any more. My step-father was a jazz trumpeter. He spent some time touring with Doc Severinsen's Touring band. Do you play often?

In my opinion you either need to end it or have a conversation on the phone. If there is absolutely no chemistry, you will know it pretty quickly. You know when conversation comes easily. Of course not being a woman, l have no idea how many jerks you run into.

If you don't like what you hear on the phone, you can block the number. Messaging is ok at first, but it turns into 20 questions. Eventually because of the lack of personality in messaging, l lose interest.
