The food market in China that has been considered the epicenter of this viral outbreak did apparently sell wild animals for consumption. The media grabbed onto this angle and reported that the consumption of bats and snakes by humans lead to the transmission of the COVID-19 virus from wild animals to humans.
While sensational, it is not proven that this is the source of the virus and in any case it doesn't really matter as the virus is now a reality. Pointing the finger at the Chinese only serves to create distrust and limit the flow of information that is needed to combat this new disease.

Something like a coronavirus is very much akin to the common cold, pretty much everyone will get it. Some will get the sniffles, some will feel like crap for a few days or a week and some will get very ill and need to be hospitalized - a very small few (3 to 4%) will die from catching this cold bug.
If your odds of getting hit by a bus are that great then make sure you look both ways, several times, before you cross the street.
I don't like the idea that this cold bug may kill me but I have to be logical enough to accept that it is a possibility, even though I am under 60 (just) and even though I am in good health (generally) and even though I am taking proper steps to limit my chances of contracting this virus.

The smartest thing you can do is to limit contact with surfaces that may contain the virus and wipe down any areas that you feel could be contaminated. Washing hands, not touching your eyes, nose and mouth etc., all this is covered in the news but not everyone is taking it seriously yet, I wish they would for all our sakes.

The steps to limit contagion are pretty straightforward but there are still a lot of people that seem oblivious to the threat or perhaps they think that either Trump or their god has the matter well in hand so why bother?
I'm no germaphobe but I do practice good aseptic technique, particularly since this first hit the headlines back in January. Beyond that I can only recommend that we all do our best to keep our immune systems strong with good diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Since we are all equal but unique then I can only suppose that your black friend was looking down on you as inferior and that's not the sort of thing a friend would do to a friend. I get the jewish friend being delusional for believing in jesus or any other savior but that just reinforces my original statement. Same sex relationships are found throughout nature, so perfectly normal so once again off the mark.
Having friends that hold different views is what makes for an interesting friendship, provided those views don't involve delusions that render them completely invalid, especially religious delusions. The problem with religious delusions is that they always wind up affecting the delusional people who believe them and everyone they subject to those delusions.

A lot of Asian people wear masks during flu season, both to protect themselves and others from contagion. When you grow up in crowded conditions, spreading infection is too easy so protective measures are ingrained at an early age.
