It came from the consumption of ingesting innocent creatures right?
Surfpirate replies on Mar 12, 2020:
The food market in China that has been considered the epicenter of this viral outbreak did apparently sell wild animals for consumption. The media grabbed onto this angle and reported that the consumption of bats and snakes by humans lead to the transmission of the COVID-19 virus from wild animals to humans. While sensational, it is not proven that this is the source of the virus and in any case it doesn't really matter as the virus is now a reality. Pointing the finger at the Chinese only serves to create distrust and limit the flow of information that is needed to combat this new disease.

Exactly the reason why I have always been anti-religion, even before I stopped believing in the idea of a supreme being. Religions all claim to uplift a person's spirit when in actuality they are focused only upon making you bow down to them and to subjugate your freedom to them. Religions are about establishing control over people, never about empowering them.

Surfpirate replies on Mar 11, 2020:
Something like a coronavirus is very much akin to the common cold, pretty much everyone will get it. Some will get the sniffles, some will feel like crap for a few days or a week and some will get very ill and need to be hospitalized - a very small few (3 to 4%) will die from catching this cold bug. If your odds of getting hit by a bus are that great then make sure you look both ways, several times, before you cross the street. I don't like the idea that this cold bug may kill me but I have to be logical enough to accept that it is a possibility, even though I am under 60 (just) and even though I am in good health (generally) and even though I am taking proper steps to limit my chances of contracting this virus.

A 3% average for the mortality rate in patients that present with acute symptoms, higher than that for people over 60 years of age or with weakened immune systems. This is based upon the data available so far and some of that data is in question because of the sources being suspect as governments try to play down the death toll for economic reasons. This is one of the reasons I wanted to start this group, grass roots information sharing.

Since we are all equal but unique then I can only suppose that your black friend was looking down on you as inferior and that's not the sort of thing a friend would do to a friend. I get the jewish friend being delusional for believing in jesus or any other savior but that just reinforces my original statement. Same sex relationships are found throughout nature, so perfectly normal so once again off the mark. Having friends that hold different views is what makes for an interesting friendship, provided those views don't involve delusions that render them completely invalid, especially religious delusions. The problem with religious delusions is that they always wind up affecting the delusional people who believe them and everyone they subject to those delusions.

The citizens of most Western Democracy (other than the USofA) would consider Bernie Sanders to be somewhere right of center on their political landscapes. Bernie is a Radical but only if you are an American and living in the corrupt corporate oligarchy that the US calls a democracy.

@St-Sinner Why did the Democratic Party allow itself to be hijacked by the corporate elites? Why didn't the corporate elites start their own party and let the Democratic Party continue to stand for the sane majority instead of limiting the choices in each election to Bad or Worse? Sounds to me like Bernie is just moving the Democrats back to where they ought to be in the first place.

@Gwendolyn2018 At least they have the decency to backoff. Some of those old white dudes have spent their whole lives in positions of power where they were constantly on the spot to provide answers and advice for problems in their areas of expertise, it seems to become second nature. I'm not that old but definitely oldish, I have owned several companies and been the person that everybody comes to for an answer, so I get it. I have also been retired for a decade and have learned to STFU unless my opinion is asked for, well most of the time at least. lol I will chime in if I see something that is unsafe or dangerous but otherwise I am happy to let trial and error take its course.

A lot of Asian people wear masks during flu season, both to protect themselves and others from contagion. When you grow up in crowded conditions, spreading infection is too easy so protective measures are ingrained at an early age.
