I can only imagine what sort of parenting that the gangsta wannabe father received when he was growing up, so maybe it is getting better, maybe not. We found our first month traveling in our Winnebago to be a little weird as we had unhooked from our daily routines but it soon felt perfectly normal to be free. Like a cage bird that gets out of its cage, it will often try to return to the cage to roost but you get over it and suddenly wonder why you didn't do this long ago.
