Is this a new twist on St. Brendan? Erin Go Bragh [irishcentral.com]
HeathenFarmer comments on Mar 6, 2019:
It would make sense that the Irish would be the one to establish a colony in America. There is evidence that Irish and Portugeese fishermen frequented the Grand Banks in the early1400's and tha Irish priests travel with the Vikings on their voyages to the west.

Does it have to be one or the other all the time? That's how divide and conquer works. If the past decade has shown people anything it is that you can't have both sides getting paid by the same corporate interests and expect a vastly different outcome for the real people. The choice becomes a matter of bad or worse - don't we deserve better than that? Death or slow death are hardly good options.

I was thinking the same thing and this is what we found enjoyable about using our electric bikes in Mexico. You park in a resort but the village is 2 miles away, take a cab or walk are your options unless you have a bike and an electric bike is very nice when it is 90F in the shade. :) There isn't a rental car company in the town, you have to go to the city which is 40 mins by car. The target market is tourists who would like to use the bike paths along the river and to explore the town with as there is no bus service in the town either. Welcome to small town Ontario, Canada.

They have even started making electric assist road bikes for couples where one is a serious rider and the other isn't or has an injury that prevents them from riding hard, this way they still get to enjoy the sport together. They all come with a 500W motor and 48V Li Ion battery, the same as the ones that Tesla uses. Good for 4k recharges, 4 hrs to recharge and cost of electricity is about a dollar per charge. The old lead acid batteries on our old E bikes were very heavy and we wore out the batteries after 2 years of constant use. These batteries are 3 X as powerful and last 5 times as long.

@LB67 Different pieces of music seem to take me to different places but often the same piece played again will take me back to the same place I experienced the first time. Perhaps active imagination is a good term for it because while I do have control it is not complete the way a lucid dream often is, you can't freeze frame the experience or back things up and change the script the way you often can in a lucid dream.

@coralisthree I was living in Nicaragua when they still had a working relationship with Chavez, food for oil but that was stopped by outside forces once Chavez was assassinated. Castro warned Chavez many times that if he continued to be sloppy that he would get a cancer that would kill him but Chavez wouldn't listen and paid the price, Maduro is trying to hold things together but he has already been forced to ship his national bullion reserves back to the US banking cartel. A coup is imminent, the strategic value of a large oil reserve that close to the continental US is to important to US corporate interests, that's why the Chinese and the Russians are so keen on supporting Latin America. China picked up all of Ecuador's debts when they refused to accept regime change by the World Bank and the IMF, not because China is nice but because Ecuador has oil and minerals that are very valuable. There was a lot of infrastructure work being done in Ecuador when I lived there under Correa but most of it was to provide better access for the Chinese to harvest those resources. The one thing that is never factored in by these corporate robber barons is the welfare of the people, that isn't even a consideration, they don't care about Americans at home so they certainly don't care about foreign nationals abroad, unless it suits their interests.

Less government works for me but society must still be protected - the Koch bros. don't see things that way at all. The problem with Libertarianism is that it has been branded with kooks like Ayn Rand and the Koch bros. Most people don't want government in every aspect of their lives, not even in the nanny state but government left to grow without limits will eventually consume itself after consuming everything else first.

@Robecology I don't see anything funny about it. I was stating the facts and those are available for all to see. No western nation comes close to assassinations of national leaders and they do tend to use guns to do it, a butcher knife might be not be a presidential assassin's weapon of choice. Other presidents have been superbly protected by the same Secret Service agents and they also got shot, it's very hard to defend against modern firearms.

@Robecology I guess you don't but where I live they still report shootings as big new, even when nobody actually gets shot. Different strokes for different folks and for the record, we have never had one of our national leaders assassinated.
