I played with a group in Bermuda, $100 buy ins for tournament play so just for fun but I won a fair amount of the time so some of the players had a side bet running with a bonus for the player who took me out of the game. It took me a while to figure it out and adjust my game play to allow for the aggressive calls on my plays. I played in Ecuador and there was a group of locals that played so loose it was hard to figure out where they were coming from most of the time, All In preflop with not even a drawing hand was not uncommon.

@sassygirl3869 For something decent I would say you are looking at $700 US/mth but it depends a lot upon where you want to live. Gringolandia is more expensive than some of the better neighbourhoods closer to El Centro - assuming you are talking Cuenca. That was 5 years ago and prices have gone up. Prices quoting on International Living are not to be believed.

I think he did a pretty good job for a guy who's reality is populated with giants and unicorns and leviathans and angels and demons - that's an awful lot of delusional reality to overcome; so the fact that he even managed to get the definition correct (if not the understanding) is pretty impressive. ;)

@OwlInASack A carnivore and a gourmet cook myself, I hear where you are coming from. I've had this debate many times with militant vegans and while I understand some points in their position I also recognize their strong desire for control. One way to exercise control over yourself is to control your diet, we are what we eat after all. What I find interesting is the desire to then take that decision and try to extend it to control others and that's where I push back. Owl People, we tend to be like that. ;)

@OwlInASack Although the world runs on empty calories provided cheaply and efficiently by sugar. Take away sugar and starchy grains that the body easily converts into sugars and you have a global famine on your hands. Our food production cycle requires ever greater quantities of fertilizers and pesticides that are made from petrochemicals as the arable land on the planet is largely depleted of nutrients. Animal husbandry as practiced now is not sustainable using pasture lands that are unsuitable for growing food crops. I expect food prices to go much higher in the future and for our diets to change with price increases, especially the price of meat of all kinds. There will be change in our diets and humankind will resist that change as we always do resist change. I recall an anthropologist who was interviewing a tribe in Papau New Guineau and how the older members fondly remembered the taste of 'Long Pig' from their cannibal past and how the regular pigs paled in comparison with the sweet meat from humans. Change is inevitable but we don't have to like it.

@DeStijl Try to understand that what Americans label a Lefty and a Socialist are politicians that much of the world sees as to the right of the spectrum. Also pls remember that Canadians didn't come up with the term Killary, Americans did and with good reason considering her willingness to kill for profit, the shame of it is that a Canadian General gave a semblance of legitimacy to her conquest of Libya.
