Surfpirate comments on Dec 13, 2018:
We make a yeast free camp bread in Canada called Bannock. https://anitalianinmykitchen.com/bannock/
Surfpirate replies on Dec 15, 2018:
@FrayedBear There are a lot of origins for flat breads and Canada, like Oz, has a lot of Scots blood in their population but the best flat bread is typically made by the Native People of Canada. Done properly Bannock is a warm and filling treat in a cold camp but done badly it can be what you might find after a fire in a flooded flour mill. ;)

@maxhyde As my French Canadian wife just informed me, there is no masc or fem version of Canuck because it is not a 'real' word, just something silly that the Anglos made up. :D My wife gets a little uppity sometimes on the topic of language as she is fluently bi-lingual in French and English, plus conversant in several other romantic languages. I on the other hand can torture the English language with the best of them as well as mangle French and Spanish until it is actually painful to the ear.

It's about what the French have done in the past and are doing now. America was smart enough to pick up on that the first time but it is doubtful that the Americans are smart enough to do so again. I lived in the US for a little bit so I'm practically an expert. Go sign a petition and see where that gets you, the French have given up on that.

@TheGreatShadow You certainly seem to think you have Canada all figured out but then you did live here for a little bit once upon a time so that makes you an expert. Try 9 generations of being Canadian and then get back to me. Always good for a laugh to listen to two Americans sorting out how things work in Canada from their very American perspective and with the desire to escape the very culture that gave them that perspective. Do Canada a favour, stay home and don't worry about employing us so we can make you a profit, we're doing just fine but maybe Mexico would be willing to take you in.

I once did such a good job that not only would the couple not accept help from an actual store employee who came along as I was wrapping up my good Samaritan act but they wanted me to help them load their purchases into their vehicle and offered me a tip. LOL People amaze me sometimes, they really do. I finally explained to them that I was also a customer who just tried to help them but they couldn't seem to get their head around it, so I had to tell them that if I helped them professionally it would be my standard rate of $250/hr which seemed to wake them out of their confusion and they went off to load their vehicle without my help. ;)

Surfpirate replies on Dec 6, 2018:
@Triphid I suggested baseball bats because it's an American thing but in Canada we used to prefer a hardwood axe handle, the head is tapered which focuses the force of the swing and it is much lighter and more maneuverable than a pick handle. What you all seem to not realize is that if the children die then they are going to heaven to be with Jehovah. Surfpirate replies on Dec 6, 2018:
@Elganned Cults are all about the differences the promote. Jehovah lives in Heaven with his Angels and after he sends Jesus with a host of Angels to slaughter all the 'worldly' humans and bind Satan the Devil and his demons in a prison of Hell for 1,000 years, only then will Jehovah restore Earth to the original paradise of Eden with all the good little JW's who were either spared or resurrected living there for the next 1,000 years. After 1,000 years, Satan the Devil and his demons (I don't know why they have to always add 'the devil' but it's a thing) will be released as a final test of the JW's who have been living in peace for 1,000 years before the demons and Satan are finally destroyed for good and then all the little JW's will live happily ever after for all eternity on a Paradise Earth with a council of 144,000 of the very best JW's overseeing their physical and spiritual welfare from a region hovering midway between Heaven and the Paradise Earth. It's quite the fairy tale but it has found a lot of believers, around 20 million of them worldwide.
