Driving the speed limit.
Surfpirate comments on Aug 21, 2018:
I used to drive very fast, I once did a run on the highway and never dropped below 110 mph for 2 hours in a bit of a race with a Nova SS on my way to a ski trip in Vermont. These days I tend to keep it within 10 mph of the limit because that keeps me in the flow of traffic and avoids getting tickets.

Lots of great spots of pics that I have mostly been to as well but I'm also a bit of a traveler at heart. The next trip my Princess and I take will probably be to Asia and I expect we will need 2 years to do it even partly right, 3 years if we add in the South Pacific and OZ. 2011 was our busiest travel year and we covered way too much ground, had to go back and revisit parts of it. Great pics and I appreciate the rekindled memories.
My interest in cooking was initiated by attempting to make these actually edible.
Surfpirate comments on Aug 21, 2018:
My experience was similar except that it looks like the stuff my mother used to whip up for us as kids. I started watching the Galloping Gourmet on TV everyday after school when I was 11 years old and by the age of 13 I was doing most of the cooking. My mother is a lovely woman but she cannot cook, to this day when she asks me if I would like to stay over for dinner I know what she is asking is will I cook for everyone. ;)

Diced up a couple of all beef, kosher hot dogs and I was in food heaven. My favourite Mac and Cheese is a lobster with apple smoked bacon Mac and Cheese that I first had at The Grand in Grand Haven, Michigan which is a cool restaurant in a converted movie house. Lobster Mac-n-Cheese Lobster meat, applewood bacon, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, and four cheese sauce, tossed with penne pasta and baked with parmesan bread crumbs

Lackey stopped every time he saw someone he knew and since he is related to 1/4 of the islanders that was a lot because he just wanted to show off his People from Bermuda, like we were specimens in a zoo. :D They were all lovely but I thought one woman who was a distant cousin of Lackey's was going to try and inspect my teeth. ;) Lackey took us out to the old air base on the way back to town after the Penguin tour which took a full hour while he waited for us and smoked cigarettes in the car park. The base is off limits to tourists of course but as luck would have it the single guard at the gate was a mate that Lackey would drink with at the pub so in we went. Lackey told us about his old mate who had been stationed as a Harrier Jump Jet pilot when the Argentinians came in to bomb the airbase, the pilots were all sitting around drinking and playing cribbage when they got the scramble alert, this is basically a retirement posting where pilots are farmed out for their last year or so in the RAF, so Lackey's mate grabs the phone to tell the tower to sod off they're in the middle of a game of crib. The tower chief tells them this is no drill, multiple bogeys inbound just above the water so in and out of radar contact - Scramble, Scramble, Scramble. The older pilots all scramble and they are trying to get enough speed up to lift off when the 20 mm shells start ripping through the tarmac. The Harriers need to warm up before they can do VTOL so with the cliff approaching them at the end of the runway because they couldn't lift off into the oncoming attack, the Harrier pilots did a funky little move and used their VTOL ability to bounce over the cliff and then dodge low and scatter across the island. The hid out in ravines and hollows where they could pop up and strafe enemy forces before moving on to a new hiding spot, they did this for more than a week until British Commandos retook the island.

While beggars most anywhere in the world will let you take their picture for a few dollars, actually a lot less usually but if you'll pay it then they will take the money, I found in my years in South America that a lot of the indigenos just wear their local dress the way an American might put on a suit or a pair of jeans in the morning. The clothes are wool and very well suited for the climate in Cusco which can change at the drop of a hat, usually a Panama hat which derives its name from the canal workers that wore them building the canal but the hats are native to Cuenca, Ecuador.

The trouble will be where to moor it, most marinas will no longer allow liveaboards. August 18: Dream Diary
Surfpirate comments on Aug 18, 2018:
A frustrating dream last night, probably connected to my reviewing some old pics of our life in South America and discussing with a few members the challenges and rewards of living in a Spanish speaking country like Ecuador. I was busy trying to organize something in Cuenca in my dream and one of the expats in my dream kept speaking to the locals in English, loud American style English as in if I say it louder then you will understand me you stupid wetback. UGH! I've met too many of this type of expat in real life and it makes me angry when people move to a country that is Spanish speaking with a rich culture and demand to be catered to in English. Anyway, I interject myself into the situation just like I often had to do in Ecuador in far too many occasions with stupid Gringos who refuse to learn the local language or even a bit of street Spanglish. I apologize to the Ecuadorians in Spanish and then turn my attention to the unilingual expat who thinks I am going to side with him and give these bastards a good talking to but instead I go about instructing him how to say what he keeps trying to communicate in louder and louder English but instead how to do it in Spanish but I am teaching him like he is a spoiled child because that's how he is acting. The Ecuadorians who were quite upset and insulted before are now finding this all a big joke which is typical of their culture, light hearted and fun loving for the most part, the Gringo doesn't like it but repeats the words in Spanish as I tell him to and soon the Ecuadorians are encouraging him and smiling which makes even this poco loco gringo crack a smile. We get back to working on our project but I can't remember what it was and then I wake up but I am tired and a bit groggy. I hate it when my dream time gets super busy and leaves me tired in the morning.
So.. how's everyone's head this morning?
