@zorialoki I had a bad experience once on Hornby Island in British Columbia, a lot of hippy chicks there and I was working on the island with my crew and we stopped to have a beer on the way home. Some of these gals are very close to the earth, wearing homespun dresses and peasant tops, plus the Birkenstocks and the wooly grey socks. One of them decided to take a shine to me for some unknown reason, I suspect magic mushrooms may have been a factor, and her girl friends were all in agreement that she needed some man flesh for the night. These are big girls, sasquatch like ladies, I was worried, my boys were worried. I went to the john and ducked out the back entrance while my boys fired up the truck and we high tailed it to the ferry dock before it shut down for the night. It's a different world out in the islands, that's for sure. :D

My wife is a pacifist, at least towards me. Although I do recall an incident where I ran into an old high school flame at the courthouse and she blew me off in a truly offensive way, left me gobsmacked at how rude she was to me. My sweet princess followed her into the women's restroom and tore a strip off her for her behavior. My wife marched out triumphant and Charlotte peered out a couple of minutes later, spotted my wife and I chatting about my case and ducked off down the hallway of the courthouse like a scared rabbit. I don't know exactly what my wife said to Charlotte but I suspect it came hard and fast and cut her to the quick. Women can be really nasty when someone messes with their best friend.

We've always won out in the past but if it happens again, quite possible, I doubt we will do so well. It was an interesting read for an animated story.
Who knows the answer to this one.

It will get hot, after a long time. It's just made of a glass that let's most of the microwaves flow through it without resistance.

When will a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup? Which one? Will it be during Bettman's reign?
Surfpirate comments on Aug 27, 2018:
Really it comes down to the players on the winning team and that still typically amounts to a bunch of Canadians getting paid big U$'s to play hockey and win the cup so some American who can't even follow the puck can tell his buddies what a cool dude he is. His buddies will usually applaud and ...

Liberty is rare and seldom seen these days, much like the days when there were pirates, it's what drives most men to be pirates, along with the money, the booze, the power and the pussy. Sounds a lot like Capitalists but without the nice suits and no blood on their hands.

@Stacey48 I've always had a hard time suffering fools and I tend to make my feelings know, often notoriously so. I later caught the little weasel of a hotel manager stealing from the owner but the slick bastard talked his way out of it and came after me with the long knives to the back. No worries, I bowed out and went onto a partnership in a company that was more profitable. Never wrestle with a pig is what my grandfather always said, he was a master builder too.

With your profession you probably travel a good deal more than most, I wanted to be a marine biologist when everybody else wanted to be a fireman or a police officer, Jacques Cousteau was my hero growing up, then I drowned in a friends pool and was resuscitated - kinda put a damper on my dream - finally got my PADI certification in Bermuda when I was 48 years old and it still scares the living shit out of me every time I go down.

I think if you are getting outside of your state it is better than many ever achieve, international travel is more of an eye opener but reading compensates for that by letting you travel in a book without leaving your easy chair. (y)

Half my time in the Navy was spent overseas - the one aspect to it that I actually miss. My family's (dad, brother, sister) always resented how much time I would spend with my face in a book and I wore their resentment as a badge of honor.

Surfpirate replies on Aug 27, 2018:
I would definitely agree that reading is the more important of the two because books can take you places without even leaving your living room. One of the great lessons I learned through travel was what it was like to rely on the kindness of strangers when you don't speak much of the language, don't really know where you are and you are a different skin tone, it's an eye opener and you also learn that racism is not just a white thing.
