@MrLizard As a kid I always thought he was a real riot and an awesome chef, much of my cooking is still based upon what he taught me. What I discovered later was that the half hour shows were filmed 4 per day and sometimes 8 per day on the set. Graham Kerr always had a glass of wine going so by the 3 show he was generally half smashed on vino, no wonder he was so comical and always stumbling about.

@Doraz Usually you can park for a few hours in public parking at city parks or along the curb if it isn't too busy. I've never been asked to move along but I also try to stay out of really busy areas just because it is hard to maneuver through traffic in a 34' motor home.

There is a rope tied to the hockey stick that the trapper uses to pull the hockey stick away and thus traps the Canadian or more likely an American who wants to taste real beer.

Lots of school bus conversions and ambulance conversions out there as well if you want something smaller. The handicapped transit buses are also a nice option for conversion as they are built low to the ground, you just have to remove the wheelchair lift if that hasn't already been done. Those vehicles are also available at public auctions for very reasonable prices.

@Doraz Cities are a real challenge but you can overnight for free at most Walmarts and definitely at Truck Stops. If we got caught out when driving in Mexico it was always a safe bet to stop and spend the night at a busy Pemex station and they never charged either. Check out boondocking websites and you may find other places as well, some small towns have free camping spots for RV's because they hope to attract your business by getting you to stay for a day or two.

Surfpirate replies on Aug 19, 2018:
Better Elephant Island, which was the first land we saw after making the Drake Passage, than Deception Island which was the last land we saw before we headed back to the Cape. Deception Island was a whaling base in late 1800's because it had a narrow inlet to a sheltered harbour on 4 sides, that's because it is the top of an underwater volcano. Eventually the volcanic activity caused the base to be abandoned for safety reasons.

@Countrywoman The Peace Corps has long been branded a convert ops program by South Americans. Few have been able to show the courage that Correa did and survive the experience. Chavez got a mysterious cancer but in fairness Castro did warn him not to have such lacks security, Chavez had a habit of eating from street sources that were never checked and it made him an easy target. His replacement just survived a rather clumsy aerial drone attack when the explosives detonated prematurely, most likely American backed operatives who lacked the proper sophistication of a Predator drone.

You have a good eye, that's the old bridge at St. Georges by the White Horse Tavern, my Bermudian mate sent it to me a while back. I also suffer from sleep apnea and as it got worse I had a harder time getting into REM sleep so my dreams got shorter and more addled but I got a CPAP and the problem was solved. A few times I have had to sleep without my CPAP and I wake feeling like I haven't slept at all, don't know how I even functioned before I got the CPAP. My dreams are back to full strength now that I sleep with a CPAP for my Apnea. You can usually find them barely used on Craiglist for very little money. A lot of people get them with their health insurance but find it bothers them so they sell them on Craigslist, it is a minor annoyance but the difference in sleep quality is huge compared to the minor hassle of putting on a mask or the nosebuds.

@Countrywoman Interestingly President Morales of Bolivia had his plane forced from the sky and was illegally detained when the US spy agencies were searching for Edward Snowden and 'suspected' that he might be onboard the Bolivian presidential jet. Surprisingly the US is not that popular in South America and I hated being called an American when I lived there - apparently we all look the same. ;) https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/jul/04/forcing-down-morales-plane-air-piracy
