Kind of interesting. I don't remember most of my dreams. But, when I do, they are doozies.
Surfpirate replies on Jul 18, 2018:
True, the epics are hard to forget but most of our dreams are like most of our daily living, fairly mundane and somewhat uninteresting. No summits without valleys and all the trudging that goes on in between the two extremes. I've been monitoring my dreams since I was 17 and enjoying them even longer than that so I tend to remember them most nights instead of remembering being the exception or just being awoken by nightmares. Once you spend a bit of time examining your dreams it opens up a whole other world that would otherwise just be time spent dormant while your body is in stasis, recharging itself.
How to remember your dreams.

Surfpirate replies on Jul 18, 2018:
@brentan A child and a fetus are two different things. Requiring a woman to carry a fetus to term with all the attendant risks and then facing the lifetime commitment that having a child is with or without support from the biological father is an unreasonable demand. Until a child is born the matter is out of the father's hands and should be.

I remember being at a bar in Bermuda and a local guy with a chip on his shoulder kept telling one of my carpenters that he was too passive aggressive because all Canadians are just passive aggressive. I stepped in and diffused the situation because if a foreign worker gets into a fight with a local then he gets deported and it cost me a lot of money in fees and permits to get this carpenter to Bermuda to work for me. I guess the local guy didn't take a hint because they found him behind the bar later that night, bleeding pretty badly, my carpenter used to box when he was younger. He had enough sense to make sure there were no witnesses and he wore his work gloves so no skinned knuckles. Cops were called but since the local guy was pretty out of it and pretty drunk, they let it go with a warning. First we're passive but people should never forget the aggressive part that comes after. ;)

Surfpirate replies on Jul 16, 2018:
@CallMeDave Good call, don't try jumping off the roof with only an umbrella for lift either, seen it tried and it doesn't work worth a shit. lol My question is merely do the normal physics of flight still operate in your dreams or can you fly in ways that are not hampered by lift or drag, etc. It's a freakin dream so you could potentially make it anyway you choose but some people like to stick to the laws of everyday life.

Surfpirate replies on Jul 16, 2018:
So are your flight mechanics bird like with lift and air turbulence or is it more like levitation and the ability to move in any direction at will. As a kid I used to spread my arms but I soon got tired of that and just moved in any direction I wanted to go, especially if I am flying in a dream where there is no atmosphere.
I've had what I call Hollywood dreams.

I did have a dream once with Star Trek characters in it, a science officer in a blue uniform and two poor bastards in the red security uniforms, I just knew they weren't going to survive long. Do you have a regular/ usual emergency port that you can lucidly remember?
Surfpirate replies on Jul 16, 2018:
@Bjy001 It's instantaneous which is also pretty handy if you are just about to die or worse in your dream, like a rip chord being pulled on a parachute, one moment you are falling at terminal velocity and the next it's snap and you're back in your awake state. I used to do it too hard when I was younger and would often wake up to find myself bouncing on the bed a bit because I came to so hard. It's like teleporting not like going through a portal although there is an exit point from the dream but you go through it so fast it might as well not be there and it's not like you have to be able to find the portal because you are connected to the dream through it.

Surfpirate replies on Jul 16, 2018:
By emergency port I mean a technique where you pull out of a dream by waking yourself up, you have to be a bit lucid in your dream in order to do it but I usually am. Normally I would just stop the dream, rewind it back to a point in the dream where I could change it so I wouldn't be facing an outcome I don't want to experience but sometimes it is just easier to turn the dream off and sometimes the dream has other active players in it that don't want to let you out of the dream but I have never been unable to emergency port out of a dream even the shared kind. I think of it as an emergency recall and it can be a handy technique to have in a really bad dream.

Surfpirate replies on Jul 16, 2018:
That reminds me of what my mom said a year ago when I was discussing dreaming with her and she said she has always tried hard to not remember her dreams because they confused her or if she remembered them they were usually nightmares that she couldn't ignore. She is now remembering her dreams and enjoying them at the advanced age of 83 but better late than never. My younger brother had a similar problem when he was only 11 or 12, he dreaded going to sleep because he was having a recurring dream where he fell off a cliff and he woke up in a sweat each night just before he hit the rocks at the bottom of the cliff. He asked me what he could do as by then I was an avid dreamer and kept a dream diary so I just told him to do what I would do if it was my dream - FLY! He spread his arms that night as he plummeted towards the rocks and willed himself to fly and he's been flying in his dreams ever since.

@Silverwhisper While there are a few Americans who think it would be as easy as just packing their bags and showing up on Canada's doorstep, sort of like moving to Hawaii or Peurto Rico, it is a bit more complicated than that. Not as complicated as it is for a Canadian to immigrate to the US but still complicated as we Canadians well know. I still think there should be a practical skills test for all new immigrants involving drinking beer while following an NHL game without the smart puck to help them. https://moving2canada.com/immigration-to-canada-from-the-usa/
