Do you have any leftover pots?
Surfpirate replies on Jul 15, 2018:
@AmiSue It looks like there is enough overhead clearance to the tree to get it stacked about 5 or 6 feet tall. Personally I would run a piece of rebar down through the middle of all the pots so it is more stable but still portable enough that you could take it apart for the winter. Freezing would shatter the pots as they are too porous to survive a freeze.

My garden soil has a lot of clay in it which is not good for growing good size potatoes so I rototill sand into the area where I plant the potatoes to give them some elbow room to grow good sized tubers and then I make sure they stay moist by leaving most of the weeds alone on the potato plants are established and shading out most of the weeds anyway.

@Trajan61 There are pistols in Canada and they are completely legal, they just aren't very popular because as a tool they are pretty limited, for a small man who wants to feel big about himself they seem to have a certain appeal but otherwise not so much. Canada would be more accommodating of Americans and their security blanket handguns when they cross the border if they would just implement reasonable firearms screening and training but since any idiot can get a gun in the US and any idiot can pull a trigger, Canada is forced to restrict American guns on our sovereign territory. Why not just be a man about it if you feel the need to get physical and use your fists to sort things out if it comes to that? These peckerwoods that only feel brave when they have a pistol in their pocket to compensate for their weak manhood are a bit tiresome and cowardly. Those went in last October and I planted some more in early spring from the garlic I had through the winter which had started to sprout. It is a pretty good pest deterrent because of the odor and I will plant another 400 hundred this fall.

Surfpirate replies on Jul 13, 2018:
@Jacar The semantics are what is the basis for all these sorts of hatred because most of it is fictitious, especially RACE, outside of the human race there is no race except for the one's we invent in our minds and our hearts. We can pick nits on this topic all day but in the end we are just playing word games. Lose the fear, lose the hate and let's all try to have a good day.

Surfpirate replies on Jul 13, 2018:
@Jacar I will admit that there is the possibility of overzealous prosecution and injustices but at the same time I still have a little bit of faith in the justice system to mitigate most of those injustices. It is very hard for me to accept that people deserve the right to spew hate filled words at people they don't even know and who they vilify for problems they have nothing to do with - just because they are a bit different. I've met all manner of religious fanatics from every faith you can think of (except Zoroastrians but there are so few of them that it's not surprising) but I can't accept that we have to paint all these people with the same brush and tar and feather them. I grant that religious people are all a bit delusional but singling out the Muslims says more about a person's irrational fear and anger than it does about Muslims in general.
So really we're just a bunch of thought provokers.

It reminds of a conversation I had with a woman in Silver City, Arizona a few years ago about the idea of a wall and how ridiculous an idea that was. She was shocked and her whole demeanor instantly changed, she was adamant that the US needed a wall with Mexico and once that was built they should build one with Canada too as it was the only way Americans would be safe. I tried to explain to her that Canada was one of Americas last true friends and her response was chilling - - 'America doesn't need any friends' just as cold as ice.

@Louise1920 The Incas weren't giants by any stretch but I agree that nutrition would play a factor, the younger Ecuadoreans did tend to be a bit taller than their parents. Strong people and hard working, even though the air is very thin at the higher elevations. I think growth hormones in our meat and dairy products in N. America also play a factor as these are passed along to the population when they are consumed.
