I think comedy holds the greatest truths about humanity because it is rooted in the tragedy that we all live through at some points in our lives but it spins it and makes it a learning experience and an uplifting experience, so my vote is for George Carlin.
Surfpirate replies on Jun 28, 2018:
@RobLawrence Jim Jefferies is one of my favourite current comics but since George did all the early ground breaking and heavy lifting, not to mention staying power I have to give him the nod. Steve Hughes is another Aussie comic that is very good, he had a bit of a spell with depression but he seems to be pulling out of it, tragedy and comedy are opposite sides of the same coin.

@Slava3 Looks like Glen Manor Dr. N., I owned a 6-plex on that street but south of Queen, back in the 80's. Geddy Lee used to live on that street, he had a very cool, red Ferrari back when nobody drove them but it was always clogging up because he drove it down Queen St. at 40 km/h. My buddy Steve S. used to be paid by the local exotic car mechanic to take it out on the Gardiner and blow the crap out of the engine, Steve said it really hummed at 200 km/h but he had to go really slow past the OPP that hung out in the parking lot at Kew Beach. lol Good memories, thanks for sharing.

@kenriley They are tucked in with a piece of celery as garnish but they have a lot more kick than the celery. Canadians prefer the Bloody Caesar over the Bloody Mary and we tend to dress it up with more garnishes that include everything from pickles to shrimp to celery to spicy pickled beans, otherwise it is the same drink as a Bloody Mary but with Clamato juice instead of plain Tomato juice. You can also substitute Canadian Rye Whisky instead of the Vodka if you so choose.

Surfpirate replies on Jun 26, 2018:
@Spinliesel The problem is the vapour cloud that comes off the gasoline, if you had waited a bit longer to light the gasoline soaked debris it would have exploded in your face, the diesel helps to slow the vapour development but it is still dodgy. I gallon of gasoline has the same explosive energy as a stick of TNT so you really want to be careful. A better idea would be to start a small fire in the barrel with paper or other tinder, then toss in a mixture of gasoline and diesel or even some old motor oil, it doesn't take a lot to make a big fire so just a couple of ounces is plenty.

@GipsyOfNewSpain Hmm, you state that all banana republics are multi-party but when I note correctly that until recently the states that are traditionally identified with being banana republics were actually 2 party systems, you pull the race card? Why is a republic a banana republic? Does it have anything to do with bananas? Do actual multi-party states like Germany, France, Canada, Australia, the UK, Italy, etc have a major banana crop? Not that I am aware of. What's with this segue into various subgroups based upon race and religion, why would political parties breakdown along those lines? They don't seem to do so in the rest of the world, not unless your world view ends at the borders to the lower 48. I'm unpleasantly surprised that you would express these view as someone who has supposedly traveled quite extensively according to your Bio.

@GipsyOfNewSpain Interesting that you say that banana republics have multi-party systems when until recently the 2 party model was typical of banana republics like Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador. Western Allies such as Germany, France, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, Italy, etc. are better examples of multi-party systems as this is more representative of democracy and is less polarized, making the threat of civil war less likely. It is equally valid to say that Hillary could have stepped aside and thrown her support behind Bernie in order to ride that populist tide to victory but she didn't either but that's a 2 party system for you, corrupt to the bone.

@GipsyOfNewSpain I'm not suggesting that politicians wouldn't be less crooked under a multiparty system, merely that it would be harder for them to cut a deal in their best interests and in the worst interests of the public. A 2 party system is just too easy to corrupt but throw in a couple more players and it become much more difficult for the crooks to organize against the people. Imagine how hard it would be to pull off a government shut down with 4 parties, it's just too good of an opportunity for at least two of the four crooks to stab the other two in the back, you could never pull it off but with only two parties it becomes a fait accompli.

@pepperjones I haven't really dressed up since my tailor Dante up and died on me, these days everything is casual so it is hard to get dressed up without looking like a clown. This was taken at my wedding, it was Tommy Bahama themed because we were living in the Caribbean back then, dressy but casual.

@Jolanta I'm in Canada, we don't even assassinate our Prime Ministers up here. The last guy who got past the Prime Minister's security team got taken down by Prime Minister Chretien himself, hand to the throat, shot to the head and down on the ground. Canadians are polite but they'll punch your lights out if you get in their face, it's just how we play the game. I'm a bit disappointed that our current PM Trudeau didn't punch El Cheeto in the head couple of times on his last visit, might of knocked some sense into him. Besides, everybody dies, one shouldn't take that shit too seriously.

The women had great fun together and I think the two with the glass ornaments will wind up in the Faerie Garden of one of the girlfriends who came out. They used old plastic planters that some seedums came in as the molds and lined them with saran wrap instead of using a release agent like oil, it worked very well.
