We do need a military, but some of the spending is way out of control, and there is a lot of fraud. Friend of mine told me that a little 1/4" bolt cost $12 for turbines (well it's not like you can get these bolts at your local hardware store). It's not the $12 it's what we as taxpayers paid. The company that made them sold to another company. The other company sold to a third, and by the time taxpayers paid for them, they cost about $100. Cut out the middle men and just buy directly from the company! Friend of mine got out of the Army last January. The last base he was stationed at he said there were about 200 tanks there, and not one move the entire time he was there. Another is theft. It is VERY common. Friend of mine stole an entire truckload of knives when he left Iraq.

I am told (by my CPA) that you have to have an extreme fluctuation in pay (but another said it isn't true with a business), or you get your name "pulled out of a hat". A flat tax won't work for a business. There are loads of legit expenses. However, some abuse them. I know a farmer that would itemize beer! How do I know? He told me. If you have an xmas party (or whatever) for your employees, that is a legit reason. Or for a business meeting. No, he itemized it for HIMSELF! And the bigger you get the more "creative deductions" you can make.
