I'd be glad to explain as much to you as I can. Farming notes go from Mar 1st to Mar 1st. Needs to be paid off in that time. If the farmer goes through USDA, they can't get any money. You need to put on fertilizer, starter, etc. That is not cheap. Don't have the money for it? Can't do it. You could have seven figures in equipment, tens of millions in land, and you can't go. There are deadlines. My last operating note was for over 300K. That only covered the first half of bills. The last time I bought seed, I had to write a check for about 70K. If you have that bought, and you can't plant it... FUCK!

I've had to explain that this does not have a damn thing to do with trump. We can produce ethanol and biodiesel far cheaper. The oil companies are only competing with that. We've had some bin busters the last few years. That's why fuel is low. Can't export as much as we like. The countries that need grain can't afford, or due to politics, can't. China has been fucking us on corn prices for years. We ship it by the ton, not bushel. When the Syngenta lawsuite went through, they sold GMO's that were not approved by China (even tho they said it was). We are not going to send back a boat load of corn. We go down on the price. Unfortunately, that is what happens. You have land that takes a lifetime to pay off, and you have to sell low. I think the average size farmer in Nebraska is around 1,000 acres. The ones that farm 5K or better will be able to pick up land on the cheap. You can't make it as a small farmer. Unless you are the guy from Green Acres that does a 40 as a hobby farmer.

Probably won't effect us. I hope. But it WILL effect lots of farmers. I know a guy that had to file ch 13 a few years ago. He had to sign everything over to his sons so he didn't loose everything (land, house, equipment, really any personal asset). I know this because he told me himself. On a good year, you borrow a dollar to make a dime. On a bad year, you borrow a dollar to lose a dime. He is making a shitty situation, even worse! Plus he is fucking up exports. Even previous to this. We are probably the biggest exporter of corn, and we export a hell of a lot of beans. All because he wants a fucking wall! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (Millie Petrozza scream)
