@btroje Big 10-4! Yeah, although I've never eaten German food, it sounds similar. As well as other European food. We have been in this country for 150+ years. The farthest I can track back was my great grandfather was born in a village 6 miles from here in 1881. We've had the family farms for well over 100 years. We were just raised to be frugal. There are several people around here that are multi-millionares. But they walk around with tattered t-shirts, and old jeans that have been repaired numerous times. I guess that still in imbeded in our heads. You'd never guess these people have money if you just saw them walking down the street. I am fairly cheep myself. I still wear clothes that I had in High School! The traditional way to make money is to save it. I guess we want to never go back to what our ancestors did.

Horn rolls, hoska, collichies, sour kraut and potato dumplings, ethernitzie. Not sure how to spell most of that. Lots of people around here still speak Czech, so I know the names, but not the spelling. Horn rolls are just a dinner roll shaped in a horn. Hoska is kind of like a pie you would have after dinner. Mostly made of bread. Collichies are kind of like a breakfast dough nut. It's made mostly of bread, but has an open filling in the center. The filling can be cherry, apple, and poppy seed. Kraut and dumplings speaks for itself. There is also kraut soup. The way my grand made it was with eggs. Lots of Czech food has kraut in it. Ethernetzie is a of sausage made from head meat from a cow. I know it sounds cheap and discusting. Because most of it is. Keep in mind most of us that came here were dirt poor. Probably 99% of us here are of Czech decent. We still keep our heritage, and eat this stuff.

@dare2dream I already mentioned that there are far better options. Your statement is a bit of an exaggeration tho about how far it will go. Yeah it will go through the person, and probably a wall. I've done ballistics tests, and from 50' your off-the-shelf non-specialty rounds will go through a 2 1/2" schedule 40 pipe! Your standard .223 is quite a bit different than the NATO 5.56X45. .223 is usually 55 grain projectile. 5.56X45 is 62. They are designed to cause more damage to the human body. They travel at slower FPS. With that being said, you can do a lot of things to prevent home invasion in the first place. One easy and cheap thing you can do is replace the screws on your door for the striker plate. The ones that come with it are small, and can be easily broken. Go to a hardware store, and replace them with 2 1/2" screws! Costs literally pennies. Also get a dead bolt. A lot of people don't realize that lots of home invasions are done by someone you know, and probably someone that was in your house. They know when you go to work, when you go to sleep. Maybe even know when you sit on the toilet! You need to know your entrance and exit points. If I was invaded, they would have to break through a minim of two doors. It would take a SWAT team and a battering ram to get into mine. The thing about home invasion is you need to know how to prevent it.

It's not exactlly something you can find at a gun show or gun store. They aren't the weapon of choice for mass shootings. Very hard to get, and very expensive. Plus if it is select, you need a tax stamp. I really don't see someone going on a killing spree walking around with something that has a 30" barrel. Plus they are heavy, and reload ammo (if you buy in bulk) is about $6 a round.

One of my exes house got hit by a tornado. No one was there when it happened. She has PTSD. That sort of trauma s very different than being injured in war.

That's why they put additives to make them taste better. Kinda like MSG in human food. Makes you want to eat more. Most cat food is animal bi-products that aren't consumable by humans. I think it was Jackson Galaxy from My Cat From Hell said they should be on a raw meat diet. They will poop all over your house! In a lot of ways, I think they might have adopted it. Always treat them as if they are loaded, even if you are 100% unloaded. Never point a firearm at any living thing unless you intend to kill it. For humans, only if you are in direct threat, or war. Also the Manlicher Carcana was a sniper rifle that the Italian military used for only a few years. It is a bolt action. My Remmington 710 is far superior to that.

Codependency is an addiction just like alcoholism and drug addiction. After a while it becomes a dopamine release to get emotional satisfaction from the other person. There are groups for that but most codependents don't realize what is actually happening in order to seek help.

She's also been hanging out with a guy I can't stand (former friend). Can you walk down the street and say "this is a good person", or "this is a terrible person" without even knowing them? I can't. If it works for someone, great! There is nothing wrong with learning another language! Plus if you are fluent, you can get a better paying job just because of it!

Yes, both of them were hard core drug addicts. He had to give his first son up for adoption. His other son he is not allowed to visit at all. She lost custody of her daughter, but has custody of her son. It's usually pretty bad if the mother looses custody, because the court usually rules in the mothers favor. Unless it's bad. Speaking of which, that kid is going to be so messed up when he is older. He's 6, and already is.

That is a good answer! My last ex actually pushed me away because she told me she didn't know how to deal with someone so nice. One day her ex came to her house. Yes she did invite him. I recommended to stay away from him. Surprise! He tried to strangle her. She was very worried at that point. From what I gather, he got mad because I was doing leatherwork, and gave her a promotional piece from the guy I worked for. She put it on the wall, he asked what that was about. The rest you can figure out. When I was at her place she always wanted me to stay, and was constantly worrried about him coming over, but she said she felt safe around me. This guy stole a pistol from his grandmother, and would send her pictures with it against his head threatening that he would kill himself if they didn't get back together. It took her weeks to file a restraining order. I tried like hell to help her, but you can't be helped if you don't want to be helped. I myself was raised in an abusive household, but I didn't pick up those traits. I must be the exception rather than the rule.

Yeah men can be abused as well, but it is ungodly uncommon, and police hardly will do anything. Last Xmas eve I was at a friends house. She started beating on him a couple times. The police were called TWICE that night. The second time they showed up they wouldn't file charges. They wouldn't press charges, and the exact words from one of the officers was "everybody just had too much Holiday Cheer". She was removed from the house, and went to some government shelter. A few weeks ago I saw her on the Platte County's most wanted list. For different reason tho.

That is a sad story! As to why the police didn't do anything is terrible (not only the action itself)! I know a guy (one of the people in the OP) that got in a fight with another guy. One guy came over to the mother of the guys house to find him there. He swung a beer bottle at the other guy, he missed and the other guy pushed him away. No bruises, no punches, nothing. They BOTH went to jail that night, and they BOTH jot jail sentences. The one that I wasn't originally talking about beat the crap out of her one night, had blood all over the wall. He made her clean it up before she left. I think he is still pending trial.

IMHO Rosetta Stone is overpriced, and almost useless. I took 4 years of Spanish in HS. Wanted to brush up on it, and watched some courses. They would say a word in Spanish, then show you a random pic, with many objects. How about they just say a word, then show you a pic of a single object?

WOW! That is a company that needs to be reported to the BBB! I have a broken leg, 3 back procedures, broken eye socket, two fractures in my skull (plus other things), and I was denied disability TWICE! Now it's going to court. If they have to pay me since 2013, that's a lot! A friend of mine got wounded 3 times in Iraq and Afghanastan. The last time an IED went off killing or wounding 200. He was denied disability twice (like me), and he got a lawyer and went to court. Out of 6 people I know that get disability, only two deserve it! One is the formentioned soldier, the other was born with bad legs and has crutches. One got disability because he got an std, another because he got bonked on the head, 2 got checks for being stupid (they say it's for being bi-polar), one gets it for spraining her wrist! Out of the 4, 3 have full time jobs! One was my former room mate. He worked 40 hrs a week driving a truck @ $15.50/hr! In Nebraska that's a good pay. Plus $600/mo in ssi. My back went out again last November. Sometimes I can hardly walk, and I have notes from 2 different doctors saying I can't lift more than 20#. I'm going through VR to get a job, and they said it could take 6-9 months to get one! But the company you are talking about is garbage! Handycapped my ass! Hate to rant but, that is bs.
