It's hard for me to single out the catholic church with condemnation, as I am not only an ex-catholic but an ex-protestant. I know most of the churches out there see all those not belonging to their denomination as going to hell. If you don't have jesus in your heart then you don't get to go to heaven, and that means the white jesus is your master. Few catholics believe that way so they aren't getting into heaven. It's all nonsense, I've verified that.

I don't know current (or not so current) cannon law but I know this used to be true. Protestants were heretics and could be killed for it. This was common knowledge when I was growing up although the killing days were past. I think ecumenism has moderated this to a great degree.

The original poster is just ranting. As for advertising, I see or hear very little of it. I stream Netflix and Prime and see no commercials that I cannot skip and skip them I do. I get a few calls everyday for things I have no interest in, I hang up on them. I don't use FB or twitter, I use Duck Duck Go for my search engine. So advertising has very little impact on me.

I get it. In the early '70s I had an ounce of opiated hash, a couple of friends and I smoked it over a week. I now have a clear aversion to opium because I know I find it addicting. Haven't felt anything like it since even from common opioid pain killers. Of course I was always in extreme pain when I took them so that could have modulated the response.

My former best friend is a devout catholic. We were in love at one time. I hate calling her she because she's a transman but denies it now. Goes to catholic groups that are anti-trans. My family has either disowned me or I have cut them off because of the religious propaganda they spew. I'm sure most of the people I encounter are religious and I have little to say to them because I am an introvert. So no, I don't like religious people to be in my life. I've been an attender of many religious groups in the past and tried to be a believer in each but those days are long past. I have my dog who as far as I know is an atheist like me. She would probably growl and nip at anyone who tried to convert me. She already growls when she senses hostility towards me.
