Isn't it pathetic, and an indictment of how broken and corrupt our two major parties are, that the next presidential election will be a rematch of two old, demented men that actually don't give a rat's ass about the peasants like us? And that in the four years in between, nobody better was able to emerge and become a viable alternative to either of them? Of course, a big part of that is also how much the corporate media controls access of candidates to the public narrative of the election and who is given enough attention to become known by the public. And I am also sure that any honest, accurate polling of eligible voters, would show that the vast majority of them would prefer someone other than Trump or Biden to be the next president, but we all know the ruling class and the corporate media, as well as the two major parties, couldn't care less about what the peasants want for leadership.

Like Iowa and other red states, decent, good people can get by fairly safely even in those states, if they are able to afford to live in the more blue enclaves that exist in every red state. In other words, in the more urban areas that have a much higher % of people who are better educated, smarter, and higher income, excepting of course, high poverty or high crime areas. @273kelvin I have never had any doubt that the only reasons Biden won last time is that Trump bungled the handling of Covid so badly, except for the development of the vaccines, and also because Trump got the blame, also deserved, for the economy tanking during Covid. If neither of those had occurred during Trump's watch, and with him getting the deserved blame for it, Biden would have lost. I do not see anything at all like those two events happening before the next election, that would be in Biden's favor, to swing the election back to him this time, esp. with Biden's terrible approval ratings and poll numbers. So that is why I predict a Repub win for prez next time, no matter who they nominate, Trump, DeSantis, or whoever. The voters want a change, no matter who it is. And the Dem Party, at least the ones who still care about winning elections, are hoping that abortion will be enough of a single issue to put them over the top in the next prez election. You are right about the root causes of violence that do matter, but I assure you, that the ruling class and the gun makers could not care less about the value of the lives of those that are killed by guns, so we will never get anywhere near the money and resources needed to try to solve the problem by only dealing with the root causes of violence, because the lives of peasants like us that get killed by gun violence do not matter squat to them. If we suddenly started seeing the lives of ruling class people and pols being affected by gun violence, I promise you we would see swift and effective action on gun control laws, but, as I said, gun violence almost never affects anyone from either of those groups, so we get our status quo..

All around the world, there is mental illness and people with "real obvious problems", but nowhere but here is there anywhere near the amount of gun violence and mass shootings, so I must disagree that real gun control laws and reform would be useless and impossible to enforce, because they would help and they could be enforced, if our pols had the political will to do so, but they don't.. And because our country is so inter-connected, and guns can be easily bought out of state or transported back into states with no gun control laws, any solutions must be at the federal level, which is currently impossible, with over half the country made up of red states that want no gun control whatsoever. So I guess the other issue is that we either need to break into two new countries, or for the blue states to secede into another country with sane gun control laws and hope for the best?? Maybe set up closed borders with the states that are red and not allow any guns into the blue states? That didn't work very well with Prohibition, as I recall... I think we would either need a serious reduction in the gun fetish that seems to dominate red states, or that we would need a separation into two separate countries, and try to stop any illegal guns from being transported into the blue state country. And unfortunately that would probably not work, with the amount of bribery that the gun industry and gun lovers would be willing to throw into law enforcement people to not stop the traffic of illegal firearms.

I really wished it had gone to trial, but i understand why they settled.

@racocn8 I agree we deserve so much better than Trump or Biden, but we won't get it as long as the corporate media continues to control the minds of most voters, so that they are not able to see how we need a real third party to get us out of this mess. As for Biden winning again, I don't think he will, and I also think the only reason Trump lost was that Covid happened on his watch, which he totally blew except for getting the vaccines developed. I still think it was Covid happening, Trump botching the handling of it, and the economic collapse from Covid, that got Biden elected. And since then, Biden has continued to disappoint so many voters, as well as the inflation and other economic problems that have continued under him, that he will get enough of the blame for those for him to lose. The Dems are counting on abortion being enough of an issue for him to win on this time, but I think they overestimate how much voters care about that compared to inflation and the continued inequality, student debt, and lack of decent jobs out there.

@JonnaBononna Personally I agree with that approach, but at the same time, I have always been told by so-called experts on the dating game, that dating profiles should never include any negative statements or content, etc., because supposedly that would turn off some people that might actually be a good match for you, etc.. Yet, if someone is so thin-skinned that they would personally take offense to someone simply saying what traits or qualities they don't want in a partner, then why would you or I want to be with them? I think it all depends on whether you are reaching for dating site members that are veterans of the game or also want to attract interest from newbies to the game as well, because the veterans will fully understand why you want to include info about what you don't want in a partner, and will not take it personally or be turned off by those negative statements or see you as some negative person in general. I met mine on Bumble recently, after four years of online dating struggles, which, by the time I finished, included time on Our Time, mostly on Match, and also POF and E-Harmony. Match used to be about the best, but in the last couple years, it now really sucks, at least in my area. MatchGroup now owns Our Time, Match, and POF, so that could explain why all of those three now suck so bad... In the end, it boils down to connecting with the right person, who happens to be on the same site as you, at the right time, while both of you are not currently locked down with someone else from a dating site, which makes it all very competitive, and thus, a real numbers game where you have to beat the odds, esp. if, like me, you live in a dating pool area where the men outnumber the women about four to one.

How about giving single men some credit that not all of us are potential stalkers, or insecure snowflakes who will get butt hurt and make a scene if someone they know is single and not interested in them romantically? I think you might be overrating or flattering yourself a bit about how much interest and attention you are getting from single men. Maybe your conceited attitude is part of why you aren't finding your match..
