@MyTVC15 You make a good point. I have run across both many men and women that have their sexist views of what roles and activities are appropriate for each gender, and I get equally disgusted with both genders when they insist on maintaining their double or hypocritical double standards on gender roles. Such as women who want all the perks of feminism, but still insist on the man always paying the costs of dating, at least early on, if not all the way thru the dating process leading to a long term relationship. Same thing with a man being all for feminism, equal pay and job opportunities and such, but still insisting that a woman cook for him all the time as well as clean up after meals and do all the home cleaning and child care, etc.. You don't get to pick and choose your equality without opening yourself to hypocrisy and insincerity... BTW, I hated both Biden and Harris as choices for the Dem ticket, having nothing to do with race or gender, simply because both of them are regressive, corrupt, corporate sellouts, instead of being progressive pols with some integrity, like Bernie or Nina Turner, or even Warren would have been better, even if Warren was not electable for the prez nominee....

And I did notice that your statement was not characteristic of you on these boards. I just always make it a point to let others know that misandry in women's remarks on these forums is no better than misogynist remarks by men. They both need to be called out and labeled for what they are, rather than one gender always getting a pass, which used to be common on this site, until I and racocn8 started calling out the misandrists, even tho it got both of us bashed on here as misogynists and blocked by many women on here. TomMcGiverin replies on Sep 10, 2022:
@SunshineEast Not that I know of. E-Harmony uses a very lengthy questionaire to match its members, but it rejects anyone who doesn't pass its depression screening, and its members tend to all be very bland, mainstream Christians and Catholics who tend to be politically conservative and traditional-minded, so that site wouldn't be useful for most of us non-believers who are here. I agree with you that most of the regular paid sites use bots posing as people for fake memberships along with other deceptive methods to inflate their membership numbers and trick people who are members into thinking there are more people interested in them for dating than is the case. I have had that happen to me personally where it was clear that something fishy was going on with some of the parties that messaged me or sent me a Like notification. I suppose some of the time it may have been scammers and other times it was the site catfishing me with fake profiles pretending to be interested in me. If the other sites, or anyone else who wanted to start a new site and model it after this one, actually cared about helping singles, esp. ones who are not religious and otherwise offbeat and non-traditional as well, instead of caring only about money, then Agnostic.com would be the model for how to do it successfully to effectively help singles find compatible matches over time with being able to get to know them deeply and comfortably thru the groups and forums. And in fact, from what I have heard from singles who were early members of Match, that is what Match originally was like, much like here, where the site had forums and such for members to get to know each other thru group discussions. But that all went away after a few years, probably because the site owners got greedy and didn't want to maintain such a complex site and moderate the forums. So I'm afraid, if anything, the future of dating sites will instead be something more like Facebook dating, with profiles that are very brief and limited, nothing much more than photos and a little intro info on the person, as that is what Match has been moving to in the last couple years. I bet that in a couple years or less, Match will eliminate the profile essay part of its profiles, or at least make it limited to a much shorter number of words. When you have no real competition and monopoly power in your industry, the product and services will only get worse, while the prices will keep going up. I wish things were different, but the trends and history clearly say otherwise. Maybe some billionaire or multi-millionaire will decide to take on the conglomerates that own all the present dating sites and try something like Agnostic again, only this time with enough money and advertising to reach the nationwide membership numbers to ...

@snytiger6 Not really, as far as I'm concerned. All it does for any practical purposes, is provide legitimacy to the charade of our democracy. I wish more people would vote for third party candidates, because if they did, third parties would gain more legitimacy and the corporate media would no longer be able to ignore them. To me, voting for a third party is not a wasted vote, and is better than not voting at all. But of course, the corporate media and the major parties say the opposite, choosing to vote shame and wage culture wars, instead of offering policies that would really improve the lives of average people... If the vast majority of eligible voters stayed home, the corporate media would either ignore the obvious mass protest of our joke of a democracy, or would instead blame it all on voter apathy, even tho any intelligent, thinking person would see it as the voter protest it would be. A wasted vote is continually voting for what you don't want and continuing to get it.

I fully support you asking, but even then, you end up depending on them being honest with you. These women were clearly lying, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm surprised they even replied to me on Match, since I am very open about my politics in my profile and they had all viewed it before replying to me. Maybe in their minds they doubt that I am honest or sincere about my politics in my profile, and hope that I would later back off from my views, but they would be wrong about that and it's their own false assumption. It's odd that they stayed married with those sort of differences between them, but a lot of couples stay together for other reasons, even after one or both of them changes and they become politically different. But there's no way I would choose to be with someone so politically different from the start of a relationship because politics is so important to me. @terenaskaws That's what makes online dating so much more brutal than organic dating, because in organic dating, you meet someone naturally, and they decide to date you steadily after that because you meet their minimum standards, while with online dating, you not only have to meet those standards for them to agree to meet you and see you more than once, you also have to be chosen over all the competition on that dating site at the time they connect with you. Online dating makes people overly choosy and spoiled by having so many choices at the same point in time, unlike organic dating.

And my parents both lived to be pretty old, so as long as I don't suffer a stroke from those heart conditions, I may live to around 90, like my father, or I may not. So I try to do as much as possible while I am still younger than my 80s, because that is where I really saw my parents begin to decline in health. I'm currently 63. My heart conditions were inherited from my parents, and they lived a long time with theirs, so maybe I will too.

It's the same way I support abortion rights, let people make their own choices. I trust them to do the right thing for themselves, rather than passing laws that say I or some religion knows better than them. And if they make a bad choice, it's their life, not mine. The only exception I make is when religious nutcase parents, like Christian Scientists or Jehovah's Witnesses, deny medical care to their minor children, and cause them harm or death, because those kids are too young and dependent, as well as brainwashed, to protect themselves from their parents dangerous choices. Only in those sort of cases of parental abuse or neglect, should the state step in and overrule private choices.

@racocn8 I've had an interesting discussion with a female friend I met on Match that is a psych social worker, 75 yo and very much a feminist, but she refuses to accept your viewpoint that women are just as likely as men, much less more likely than men, to reject others for dating based on looks. She keeps saying that women are more likely than men to accept dating partners that are "not conventionally good looking". I concede that she might be right about that, but that does not negate or change the trend of women being more frequent than men in rejecting for looks on dating sites. All it proves or says, is that women have maybe more exceptions among them, than men, who will date someone who is not conventionally good-looking. Her argument, while it may be true, is something I see as more of an excuse or rationalization for not believing that women are just as shallow as men, if not more, when it comes to rejecting dating partners on looks.

Not just the students, but the parents were some of the worst behaved assholes. I and two others stopped a fight at a basketball game between parents. The xtions had been ...

I've heard the same thing from other school sports coaches about Christian schools, that they have the worst behaved parents and athletes, and also some of the dirtiest players, since they believe more than other schools in win at all cost, rather than sportsmanship.. I still say things like Goddamn and JFC too, when I am angry, not that I believe in either being..... It's instinctive habit...
Christian school forfeits football game against team with two girls on roster

Scared of being beat by girls.
TomMcGiverin replies on Aug 29, 2022:
@rainmanjr I'm sure the girls, as well as boys who wrestle, have to sign their rights away for any liability on the part of the schools involved as well as the officials and other competitors. So no, there would be no risk of a lawsuit against a boy opponent.

@rainmanjr Have to respectfully disagree. As long as high schools have football, which may not be the case after I'm dead, without serious rule changes to protect the players, I support equal opportunity, for both genders. I hear you about the safety risks, but have to respectfully agree to disagree. Personally, I would like to see high school football continue, but only with enough drastic rule changes to make it a lot safer, for any gender. But, like a lot of things, I'm not in charge of the universe and don't make the rules, same as I would like to see recent proof of therapy for anyone to be able to join a dating site. So you and I can wish all we want about how things should be, but our opinions won't change a damn thing about how things are run by organizations..

No offense, Aaron, but are we ever going to have singles post here about something besides food, pets, and wildlife? Surely there are other aspects to single life besides dating and those things...

@glennlab Not interested in posting, just thought someone should point out the obvious, and instead, I appear to get bashed for it with sarcasm by Aaron, the dominant poster..

@rainmanjr I'm not a fan of football either, since I find the game too violent to even watch, but for me it's the same as gays and lesbians in the military. I would never have joined and am not a fan of the military in general, but I believe in equal rights and opportunity, so if the girls want to play football, it's their choice and not my business. Title IX is all about that equal opportunity for women and girls. I too am worried about concussions in football but it's their choice, for both males and females. That's not the same as using steroids in sports, where the cheating dopers are indirectly trying to force their competitors to do the same in order to win. That's why sports have rules against doping and enforce testing and bans to allow clean athletes to have a fair chance to win.

Suit up at least one girl and collect the forfeit. I do hope the lawsuit against them succeeds and that they are kicked out of the conference. They need to play with themselves, literally, lol! Maybe they and their shithead coach can have a circle jerk...

That is why in Europe, esp. in England, free college based on merit, rather than being able to afford it, and the rich have always hated it. Same-Sex Marriage Support Inches Up to New High of 71%
RussRAB comments on Aug 28, 2022:
In the decision overturning Roe, Justice Thomas specifically targeted same sex marriage and access to birth contol. Will this extreme right wing court buck the opinions of the majority to roll back marriage equaliy as they did with women's reproductive rights? I'm not holding my breath.
