I make an exception for one anti-vaxer, that I will sit with her at karaoke, because she lives a very isolated life, her job is a home business and other than going shopping or being around her kids, she has little chance to get Covid except at the weekly karaoke show I join her at. The other people I sit with at karaoke are all vaxed and I feel safe with them. As far as singing at karaoke shows, I seldom sing from my table while others are singing, esp. if they are really good. As a karaoke singer, I really resent it, because I'm actually pretty good and usually serious about my songs, when people at their tables sing loudly along with me during the song. Esp. if they are sitting right in front of the stage area. It's very distracting and some people have done this so loudly I could barely hear myself during MY SONG. In those cases, I have always informed the karaoke host how much this pissed me off and how rude this is. And in case the host doesn't follow up with the offender, I have always shared my feelings with them and made it clear that I will be singing as loud as I can when THEIR turn to sing comes up, assuming they have the guts to sign up and sing. I have found that few karaoke hosts have the balls to confront these jerks, so I take it upon myself. If I sing from my table at a karaoke show, I keep my volume down and make sure I am sitting far enough away so that the singer on the mic can't hear me. As for audience members singing at a concert or live music at a restaurant or bar, I generally refrain from singing along with them, unless it's clear they are inviting a sing-along. They are getting paid for what they do, and I need to respect their work. The few times I might sing along, I always make sure I am sitting far away from the performers, and also not too close to other audience members. And I keep my volume low.

Glad you still have one good romantic prospect. Right now I have two going. As for getting the odd Like message from someone on a site, I had something like that soon after I paid up to get a full membership again on Batch, after running for several months with a free membership. During that interval, a very attractive looking woman at least appeared to send me a Like message and viewed my profile. After I paid up, I was finally able to see the Like message and her profile, from months before when she sent it. I messaged her and thanked her for the interest, told her I was very interested in hearing from her, etc. She was still active on the site, read my message and looked at my profile again. Then crickets, she never messaged me back, even tho she remained active on the site. Why did she change her mind about being interested in me? These dating sites have some strange things happen on them.

Of course it's easier to find someone compatible once, as you say, you stop "looking for that life partner", because you have lowered your standards and are more open to meeting people than before. So you end up rejecting fewer people than before who might have been right for you. You also become less desperate and less likely to make others feel pressured by you. No wonder that might have an effect of allowing you to accidentally connect with someone who would be right for more than a hookup or FWB. I think there are lots of us who self sabotage with being too picky and would probably do better if we allowed ourselves to meet a greater number of people in the dating process. The rub of that, tho, is that most of us are not at your level of looks, so we often do not have the opportunity to meet a large number of people in the dating game, unless we lower our standards to mostly meeting only people who look even less attractive than us. Most of us are not willing to do that, no matter what we might say about ourselves on these forum boards.

Update: The first meeting/date last night with the other of the two women I have been chatting with went really well. I helps that we had video chatted a few times before meeting in person and had also been having daily phone chats after moving on from the video chats. Really enjoy her company in person and also felt some chemistry and physical attraction. She was very easy and comfortable to talk to and I felt very relaxed and at home with her. Had dinner to celebrate her birthday early and then went to karaoke for an hour or so, where I got to sing for her twice. She really enjoyed the meetup and said so when we talked by phone today. We both agreed and told each other we should be able to at least be lasting good friends even if the dating part doesn't work out. I am still going to go slow on anything physical with her, tho it was clear she feels some of the same attraction. We had a long, slow hug before she got in her car to leave, after I walked her to it, and after the hug she gave me a quick, enthusiastic kiss on the cheek after she was surprised by me not leaning forward for a kiss after the hug. Did not want to lead her on or encourage her too soon. I responded by giving her a quick, somewhat awkward kiss on her cheek. I think she gets my caution and that it's nothing personal. We are meeting for a few hours again, plans made over a week ago, to go on a winery walk in her town next Sat.. After that, I'll see what happens. We first started messaging in the middle of March, so it was a relief to finally meet in person. She looks better in person, as do most people do, than in her current pics. I thought her figure was noticeably better in person than in photos.

Personally, tho I know it will sound like sour grapes, I and a friend I processed this experience with, think that I dodged a bullet here. All is not lost, tho, because tomorrow night I have sort of a first meeting/date with a woman that I have been not only messaging with on Batch, but also moved on to video chatting with and talking on the phone about every day for almost three weeks. She is down to earth, and I already feel pretty comfortable being myself with her. I think there is at least a good lasting friendship there if both of us want it, should it fail to pan out as a romantic relationship. We have a lot of shared interests and she is funny and smart. Also seems a hell of a lot more honest than the woman from today. But at least I will see her in person tomorrow to celebrate her birthday a few days early with dinner and karaoke. I am also planning to see her for a winery walk where she lives next Sat.. Hopefully those two experiences will tell me enough to know if there is the right kind of chemistry or attraction on my part. If I feel there isn't, I will be straight with her that I'm not interested in continuing with her unless it's as just a friend and with the agreement that we each should keep looking for other people to date romantically. I may be a lot of things, but I really hate and try not to be a hypocrite.

It's an isolated victory. It only happened because someone recorded the whole thing. Most of the time there is not a recording like this, in the future it will usually end up being the cop's word against the bystander's and in those cases, the cop always walks. Even in this case, without the video, the cop's word would have trumped that of all the bystander witnesses.

I have found that most people on the liberal side of the spectrum either lack the interest to seek alternative news sources or refuse to question the corporate media or the Dem Party establishment because they lack the strength and courage to deal with facing the reality that the corporate media and the Dem leadership are lying to them about anything that involves the interests of average Americans. It is simply too much for them to believe that continuing to elect corporate Dems will be never be enough to actually change anything for the everyday reality of most Americans.
