I'm still okay with my in-laws. They just can't handle too many at once right now. They came and had Thanksgiving with us many times when we were married. I'm okay though. It was just something that occurred to me.
Today is the first Thanksgiving I haven't been with my (now ex-) wife in 37 years.

Holidays can be hard. Just know that you are not alone in feeling that way. Many of us are learning to make plans to handle those situations. It still is a bit lonely. Take care - Devrais

Me, too! My ex celebrated with his girlfriend and our adult children are scattered so I went to a restaurant with my sister and her beau. It was nice. My ex and I get along but it is time to create new traditions.

First one since I've been divorced. I had my kids, but it wasn't the same for anyone involved.

It's probably more comforting to the human psyche to say "the devil made me do it" than to confront their own responsibility, shame and psychosis that surrounds their behavior. It's a classic denial of responsibility.
