What attracts you to someone?
Tomfoolery33 comments on May 21, 2018:
Sad to say, but initially looks matter. Not that she has to be conventionally beautiful, but at least attractive to me. But that doesn't last long, that just gets the ball rolling. After that, it's intelligence, a sense of humor, kindness, and all those good human qualities.

Tomfoolery33 comments on May 21, 2018:
Voting is very important, and for more than just the president. Yes, the electoral college can fuck things up, but that's only one piece. We need to vote in people who will represent us at every level, from dog catcher to Senator. It all matters, and is necessary for the system to work. People who didn't vote are the ones who got Trump elected.
Nice Thoughts.

Why are the school shooters almost always young boys?
Tomfoolery33 comments on May 20, 2018:
I agree completely. When I was in Junior High and High School, I was tagged a "homo" because I was one of the first in my small town to grow my hair long. I avoided the bathrooms between classes and worried about getting beaten up, though I never was. My parents were thoughtful and accepting, and I soon found a group of like-minded friends where I was accepted. By the time I graduated I was "cool" and everyone had long hair. I don't know how I would have turned out if I had remained an outcast, but I don't think violence is something I would have resorted to, because I'm a conflict avoider.

Tomfoolery33 comments on May 19, 2018:
It depends a lot on where you live, too. When my wife and I were making over 100,000, I thought we had it made. Nice house, nice vehicles, nice neighborhood. We could do most of the things we wanted. But we lived in a small city, in a generally not-rich part of the country. That's no excuse for the ridiculously low minimum wage, though, no matter where you are. And with CEOs making 400 times the money of their workers, plus all the stock options, etc., it makes me sick.
This is a great band!!!

Was your first true love so profound you still feel it ?
Tomfoolery33 comments on May 19, 2018:
Yes, I can still feel my first love, though maybe by now it's just memories of love. I was 15, and we were only together for about 6 months, when she broke it off. But my main true love, that I can still feel, but sometimes wish I couldn't, is for my wife of 35 years. Unfortunately, we are divorced now. Long story.

My German Shepherd will bolt anytime he gets the chance. I can't let him off the leash on our walks. He's gotten out of the fence several times, and I've had to chase him around the neighborhood. The only good ? Thing, is that he's so big, he's easy for drivers to see, and is probably not as likely to get hit as a small dog.

How great of a role does appearance play when looking for a partner?
Tomfoolery33 comments on May 19, 2018:
For me, it means more than I wish it did. Now that I'm older, and divorced, my skill at spotting the prettiest woman in the room is pretty useless, because almost always, they are too young for me. I've got to adjust my settings for the age I actually am, rather than the age I can imagine myself to be. I don't want to be sexist, or ageist, but I'm a very visual person, and a lifetime of the media feeding me images of what is perceived to be attractive has had its affect on me.

Tomfoolery33 comments on May 18, 2018:
It depends on what time of day it is. During the day or early evening I like the philosophical or science posts. Or maybe relationships. Late at night, I often have the TV on, and my brain is tired, and I go with the lighter stuff. I tend to avoid a lot of the political stuff, because it depresses me, and I hear enough about it everywhere else. And I'm always up for funny stuff.
