That is really sad. I always try to be respectful of service workers. My ex-wife was a waitress and a store clerk for a while, and she helped to see what they go through.

I don't think so. Sometimes it's a matter of fitting into the culture at large and respecting their ways. It doesn't mean you have to participate in all the rituals or whatever feels too wrong.

Am I right in thinking that there are more truly bi-sexual women than there are truly bisexual men?
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 14, 2018:
I don't know. It seems that way, but probably just because women don't seem to have to deal with the same hard core taboos about being close to the same sex, at least in the past, though that may be changing now.

Is a married human being happier than unmarried one?
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 14, 2018:
It depends entirely on the person and the situation. I was very happy in my marriage for many years, and very upset and unhappy for quite a while after it ended. I'm the type of person that needs others in my life. But I am learning to be happy alone, and it is making me "grow up", so maybe someday I'll see it as a good thing.

Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 14, 2018:
I was in band, and at our school we also had a stage band, a small group that did more popular things and oldies. At the end of my freshman year, the band director came up to me and handed me a folder of guitar music, and said to learn this over the summer. He had chosen me to play guitar in the stage band, and I wasn't even aware that he knew I played guitar. Turns out, the stage band guitar player before me, whom I knew, had recommended me. I was in stage band for the next 3 years, and later played banjo in our dixieland band, along with being a drummer in the marching band. Band was my favorite part of being in high school, and I also made out with girls a few times on the band bus.
How do you stay grounded?
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 14, 2018:

How does music effect you...?
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 14, 2018:
Deeply, most of the time. I've played music for more than 50 years, and though I'm not that great, it's a huge emotional outlet, both playing and listening. I just think that chemically, some people respond more to music than others. I don't know why. I'm sure everyone has known people without rythym, or that don't feel much when listening to music. It's hard for me to understand, but it's there.

Is it ever reasonable for a healthy but unhappy adult to commit suicide?
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 13, 2018:
I depends on what you consider to be reasonable. Yes, I think it can be reasonable to the person involved, though not neccessarily to others. Everyone has their own things to deal with, and apparently some people can't deal.

Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 11, 2018:
I worked at the same place for 20 years until my retirement. For the first 10 or 15 years I really enjoyed it, was challenged by it, and it was very suited to my personality. I travelled a lot, and dealt with lots of different people, both within the company and without. The last few years, however, got worse and worse. I dealt with fewer people within the company who I considered friends (because of downsizing) and the morale and spirit within the company became less and less, and the challenges became a little too great. At the end, it was just something to put up with and get through until retirement.
