@FinchiMcQ One time we were playing at a bar, and a friend brought some "special" brownies. I didn't realize how strong they were, and ate a large one and washed it down with a beer. The next set we were JAMMIN! Another time, we were playing an outdoor party, and after a particularly raucous and feedback drenched version of "All Along the Watchtower", a boy who was the son of the party-giver said, "Man! If that don't bring the cops, nothing will!" Sure enough, about 10 minutes later the cops showed up and told us to keep it down.

What are your thoughts on online dating?
Katrik comments on Apr 10, 2018:
I think that most dating sites are either overpriced, and don't work; or they are full of scammers and bots, and are a waste of time. The one boyfriend I have had so far I met irl, after having given up on dating sites.
Tomfoolery33 replies on Apr 10, 2018:
Scammers, yes. Ran into way more of those than I thought I would.
There’s something soothing about falling asleep to the sound of rolling thunder
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 10, 2018:
Yes, and trains. I grew up going to sleep to the sound of trains.
Tomfoolery33 replies on Apr 10, 2018:
@ChrissyM Yes, busy city noise bothers me. But I grew up in a small town full of railroad lines. Freight railroad, which usually moved slowly, clanking along. And even the horns, as long as they weren't too close were nice. I lived in L.A. for several years, and depending on where you were, and how well insulated the walls were, noise could bother me. I generally like it quiet.
Made it to Level 8 - woohoo! Only 150,000 points to go to get to Level 9!

That's great! I don't think I've seen a level 9 person on here. Maybe I just haven't noticed. This is only my 2nd week.

Childhood mementos. Do you have any mementos from your childhood?

I have several scars on my knee where I fell on the goddamn playground lol

I've got some those too, and they're nice and black from the cinders.
You may have noted my dashing photo on this website - specifically, my T-shirt which says: READ.
Akfishlady comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Somewhere in our recent political division it is an insult to be educated, to think for yourself or be challenged on your beliefs. Certainly for those who think education is elitists your shirt will offend.
Tomfoolery33 replies on Apr 9, 2018:
@Donna_I I think part of it is a class thing. People who are in lower classes feel that they are being taken advantage of by the "elites" and made to feel lesser than others, and so they are resentful. There is crossover with the religious right, but it's not complete. I'm part of the same struggle. I've always been middle- or lower middle-class, but I've spent years educating myself. My father was the same way--he worked in a factory and read philosophy, which makes it hard to decide which group you belong with. Whether class is based on education or money.
People are highly susceptible to social influence but rarely understand the full extent of that ...
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Absolutely. People thing they are these totally independent beings, with all their actions determined by their own thoughts or desires, when actually so much that we do is based on social norms, whether going along with them, or fighting against them. We are truly social beings. There's a good piece...
Tomfoolery33 replies on Apr 9, 2018:
@Altaf Whatever the piece is, it's not a whole book. It's an essay that I found in one of my Dad's philosophy books.
It is truly disturbing how quickly anti-intellectual and pseudo-intellectual ideologies are spread ...
Tomfoolery33 comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Yes it is. As long as it sounds halfway reasonable, some people will believe it, even if it's wildly off base. The anti-intellectualism that seems to be spreading makes me angry.
Tomfoolery33 replies on Apr 9, 2018:
@eternalwisdom I understand what you're saying, and there is some truth to it, but I do think there's a fair amount of unconscious racism around. Not overt, or acted on, but still there underneath. I include myself in this statement, though I try to fight against it.

Jesus, would you look at the time!
RavenCT comments on Apr 9, 2018:
There are Jesus clocks on the web. A friend swears there was one on the market many years ago - that had a tortured scream on the hour.

Tomfoolery33 replies on Apr 8, 2018:
They do. I've been to church twice in the last 50 years. Both times for my kids.
