@azzow2 I think it will be a good pistol dispite the lower cost. In my opinion the Ruger’s are better pistols than the Kimber especially for the money and some of the other more expensive models. The Kimbers are over engineered, often to tight and prone to jam.

Trajan61 replies on Dec 2, 2018:
@TheGreatShadow If he likes the .357 he can just shoot the .38 special in that gun and it will probably have less recoil than the 9 mm as it’s likely a heavier gun being a .357. The .357 is a powerful cartridge and quite unpleasant to shoot especially in a light gun.

Why the preference for the .380 over the 9 mm? My gun smith friend says that the .380 is a direct blow back type of gun where as a 9mm is a delayed blow back pistol and therefore more reliable. I’ve owned a couple of .380 that were jammers so I’m inclined to believe him.

@RavenCT A 357 magnum revolver which is capable of stoping most any wild animal is a lot more convenient to carry than a shotgun or rifle. In Canada you do not have a right to carry a loaded pistol or for that matter even own a pistol and also when you are transporting a rifle or shotgun they are required to be unloaded so basically you have no rights when it comes to carrying any gun for self defense. You obviously are not very familiar with guns as is the case with most of the gun control folks.
