i'm 63 years of age, separated since 2005, would happily get a divorce IF I had any idea where my estranged wife was living.
I have been married twice, had a son who was stillborn and a daughter who passed away aged 16 from cancer in January 2001, I live alone except for my fish in an aquarium, I enjoy gardening, reading, 60s -80s music, art, poetry, good documentaries, English crime shows and decent movies including history based ones, cook for myself, mostly healthy foods but the occasional 'fast foods'' as a kind of 'treat' once or twice a fortnight, grow my vegies when I can.
I'm a very laid back, easy going type of person so what you see is pretty much what you get.

Triphid comments on Sep 13, 2019:
I'd rather come face to face with a rattlesnake than an Australian King Brown or Black Snake any day. At least your 'rattlers' make a noise, ours are silent, deadly and bloody swift when they bite.

I can't for the life of me figure out WHY Churches need to be so ornate and opulent for a god that can create ANYTHING, supposedly, that it wants and yet allow/permit literally millions, if not BILLIONS, to live, starve and die in abject poverty.

Well I thought for a while that the Organised Religions had sunken as far as they could, BUT this has proved to me that these 'so-called' "Men of God" still have NOT reached the very lowest depths of corruption, depravity and inhumanity yet. Give the bastards term of Life Sentences with the Hardest and Foulest of Labors imaginable, allow them NO Visitors, No Privileges what-so ever, seize ALL their personal Assets and properties, then liquidate those assets, etc, and give the monies back to those whom the persecuted.

I'm not a woman, but I liked this, and thought I would share it: . . . .
Triphid comments on Sep 12, 2019:
I'm not a woman either BUT I have experienced similar with a few women in my time. I'm a pacifist by nature UNLESS you're a confrontational, in your face type Bible Basher then you WILL get the verbal 'Bum's Rush' from me. Yes, I like and enjoy the company of women and am 100% hetero, BUT the pushie ones are one of the biggest 'turn-offs' ever to me.

Triphid comments on Sep 11, 2019:
Oh FFS, what's next, the Feminazis seeking to ban women from sport like Cricket, Aussie Rules, Soccer, etc, because the uniforms are too revealing or the games are too masculine? I can't bear to watch the men playing Cricket, Aussie Rules, Soccer, etc, because the men are way too namby-panby, out-rated, over-paid Show Ponies, the women, on the other hand, actually play the game with all their gusto and are 100% entertaining doing. I always though 'Gender Equality' was an ideology that was meant to ALLOW women to freely choose and pursue WHAT EVER avenue/career they wished, NOT be shackled by the whims and desires of others like these Feminazis.
Good Morning my PEEPS
Triphid comments on Sep 10, 2019:
As my Dad would ever so often say, " ANY day you're still above ground IS a very good day." He was a local, hard-rock, Underground Miner in the local Silver.Lead and Zinc Mines for his entire working life, part of his job, besides digging through literally tons of rock to extract the ores, was as a part of the Rescue Teams sent in when there were huge rockfalls to 'extract' fellow miners caught under them, often they'd be crushed beyond recognition or have horrific injuries, sometimes it may take weeks of digging before they'd finally find their remains, so I reckon he was 100% right with his saying.
I turned 65 today, and this is how I feel this morning
Triphid comments on Sep 10, 2019:
I know pretty much how you feel, I'll be 66 in a few months time and every day my joints, etc, feel like I've been hit by a Semi-Trailer doing about 110 kms an hour loaded with tons of rocks. My joints creak and groan like an Outback Dunny ( Toilet) door in a windstorm and as my G.P. told me about 18 years ago, " Mate, IF you were a horse we'd have put you down by now....LOL" But HEY, I'm still alive. breathing and can enjoy things like sunny days, my gardens and the odd trip fishing ( well teaching worms to swim actually).
I can't stop laughing.
Triphid comments on Sep 10, 2019:
A truly bloody great cartoon, I almost pissed my pants laughing at it.
Can all 'why' questions be translated into 'how' questions?
Triphid comments on Sep 9, 2019:
As I was once told by my High School Teachers, " To find the How we must first find the Why, to find the Why we must find the How." To me it works the same with the old " Wisdom" and "Knowledge" thing, i.e. to gain Wisdom one must first gain knowledge then turn knowledge into Wisdom BUT first you need to have the Wisdom to want to seek Knowledge, no matter the consequences, BEFORE one can turn knowledge into Wisdom.
How would you reply to a theist who says, "You send yourself to hell"?
Triphid comments on Sep 9, 2019:
The last time a Faithfool pulled a similar thing on me I simply replied with " That's okay, I'll save you a seat close to the fires if you'd like." Haven't seen hide nor hair of that Faithfool since then and, to be 100% honest, I like the space they've left behind since their departure.
Anyone try Facebook dating yet?
Triphid comments on Sep 9, 2019:
Signed up for Zoosk on Zuckerbook many. many years back and got inundated with scammers from Ghana, Nigeria, etc, worked out for myself that most Dating Sites are about as useful as a One legged man in an arse kicking contest. Even though Agnostic.com purports to be a 'Dating Site/Group' of sorts I joined it, NOT for and in the hopes of finding a date or a relationship, but for the enjoyment and conversations, etc, that I could have with like minded Atheists and Agnostics like myself and haven't been back on Zuckerbook ever since.

Triphid comments on Sep 8, 2019:
I started really questioning religion when I was about 8 years old or maybe even younger BUT I tend to think that actually reading the Bible, aka The Goat herders Guide to the Galaxy, word by word, verse by verse, page by page, etc, plus being expelled from EVERY Xrstian Sunday School by the time I was 9 years old for simply asking questions only served to consolidate and reinforce my rejection of religion and all of its woo-woo.

Triphid comments on Sep 8, 2019:
My 'mother' ( a believer when it was convenient for her btw) literally FORCED me to attend Sunday School at 8 years of age. I started asking questions almost immediately ( I was a child who asked questions about everything) and was EXPELLED on the first day. I was then forced to attend another and slightly different Sunday School the next week, asked questions again and was EXPELLED immediately and so it went on and on until the final resort was to send me to a Catholic Sunday School, same result, I asked questions, got a dozen hard whacks with a cane from the Priest and was EXPELLED that very morning. My Dad, being a life-long Atheist, was always pleased when I came home with the Expulsion notes every Sunday BUT the Catholic Priest was not very pleased when he was confronted by my Dad for striking me with the cane since my Dad told him that" Should he EVER see him raise his hand to ANY child he, my Dad, would shove that stinking cane so far up his Catholic arse it would take a Search Party to find it again." So began my life as an Atheist and so shall it remain.

Triphid comments on Sep 8, 2019:
Ages ago I gave up boiling a kettle to make coffee, then last year friends gave me a Nescafe "Dolce Gusto" Coffee Maker for my birthday and Xmas. It's great, just put hot or cold water from the kitchen tap into the water container, add a coffee pod ( they come in many various kinds btw) into the receptacle, press the button and wait until goes from red to green, insert your cup and steaming hot coffee to suit your taste comes out. It makes a great Cappuccino, Latte, Flat White, etc, and has changed my morning 'routine' from a glass of Iced Coffee to a piping hot cup of coffee these days.
Risk rescuers' lives for people who refused mandatory evacuation?
Triphid comments on Sep 7, 2019:
Back in 1992 when I was a volunteer ( all were volunteers btw) with the State Emergency Service here in Broken Hill, Australia we had a summer storm, nowhere quite near the scale of a Cyclone/Hurricane but truly bad enough btw, where houses were flooded, roofs torn off, trees up-rooted and the normally dry, sandy creeks were just torrents of water running at depths of up to 8 to 10 feet. Half of our crew were working around the clock pumping out flooded houses, covering torn off roofs, etc, while the rest were racing from one place to the next rescuing rank idiots who decided to IGNORE warnings and would, instead, try racing cars through flooded creek crossings, thankfully no-one actually drowned BUT 4 of our crew were swept away down stream a number of times during these rescues and could have quite easily been drowned. Yet those rank idiots that needed rescuing because of their stupidity did NOT even get cautioned or fined, etc, by the Authorities afterwards, so on one hand, I say rescue them, but on the other hand TRY to educate them that their own stupidity ACTUALLY has the consequences and chances that IT can/will cost the lives of others.

IF the radiation doesn't get them, trying to escape by swimming then the sharks most certainly will.

Triphid comments on Sep 4, 2019:
Great and Massive Kudos to you and your family for being True and Decent Human Beings and my most sincere condolences on the loss of your brother, it IS people like yourselves that bolster my hopes for Humanity and the Human Race. You've reminded me of when our little community with a population of around 19,000 people all got together and collected nearly 300 tonnes of non-perishable goods, blankets, tents, cooking utensils, clothing, etc, with not a Bible in the entire lot then asked a Xrstian Charity IF they'd help us to send them to the needy in the big Himalayan Earthquake a few years back. The Charity, which I won't name at present though a well media publicised one, REFUSED point-blank since " We had NOT included bibles or religious materials in our donations." We searched around and found a Non-Religious, Non-Government Group that not only sent trucks to collect everything we had collected BUT also air freighted it ALL to the needy FREE of Charge. We had also struck the same problem when we had collected for the Boxing Day Tsunami, a refusal from a Xrstian Charity BUT an acceptance and assistance from another Non-Religious/Non-Government Organisation who also air freighted our collection totally free of charge. I tend to think that " If you want something done the right and decent way, then do it yourself/selves and do NOT rely upon or let the religious organisations finish the job."

As I ever so often would remind/tell my Born Again Xrstian, Evangelist neighbor, "Praying to God to ask God for ANYTHING at ALL is totally futile since, according to the Goat-herders Guide to the Galaxy, aka the bible, God's plan for everyone and everything IS absolutely Immutable and therefore CANNOT be changed EVER." But I would also remind him that as an Atheist, like myself, he COULD have the ability, IF he had the will and inner strength as well, HE could work at changing this in his life and destiny to the better. Now, since he has been AWOL for over 6 months at least, so to speak, I find out that he is now residing in an Institution that deals with SEVERE Mental Disturbances, undergoing Drug Rehabilitation Therapies and most likely facing being Scheduled for Suicidal/Dangerous Obsessions with Knives and other sharp objects and threatening others with them. The old saying, " There ARE NONE so blind as they who refuse to see, there are NONE so deaf as they who refuse to see" rings ever so true in his case I think.

Most thankfully SOME of the Scientific/Historic Community has begun using B.C.E. and C.E instead of the terms IMPOSED upon us by the Catholic Church. B.C.E. - BEFORE Common Era, C.E. - Common Era. Far, far better imho than the arcane B.C. - before Christ, and A.D.- Anno Domini ( the Year of Our Lord) considering that the word 'Domini' comes directly from the ORIGINAL Latin, Dominus-Lord/Master, etc, and actually means Our Lords, NOT Our lord. Yes, I realise someone will dispute my direct translation of the Latin into English BUT it IS 100% correct none-the-less.

Though I am definitely not Gay, etc, and have been heterosexual ( straight) all my life I applaud Canada for their stance. Religions of ANY kind belong, if they ever did, in Churches, Temples, etc, etc, and NOT in the private sex lives of others. For example, for almost 2 millenia the Catholic Church has railed against and persecuted those who are not heterosexual in nature BU, as we ALL aware, Homosexuality has been practiced among Priests, Bishops, Cardinals and the like for as long as Catholicism has been around, it IS a case of the Pot calling the Kettle black with a very over-liberal dose of " Don't do as WE do, do as WE tell you" tossed in for good measure.

As a Trained and Practicing Mid-Wife, and YES I am a man also and a Straight one as well, I can safely state that new born babies have absolutely no knowledge of God/Gods or any other Deities what-so-ever. Al a baby is truly awe of, so to speak, is that they need feeding, nurturing and comfort from adults and their parent/s, religious knowledge/instruction ONLY impacts upon them IF and WHEN either society or the parent/s begin to impose it upon them later in their life such as when they actually develop the ability required to understand what they have been told by others around them. All babies are born Atheists despite IF they are the offspring of Atheist or religious parents.

Triphid comments on Aug 29, 2019:
Over the many years of my life I've learned that " guilt-tripping" by both individuals and Organisations, etc, are exploited to the max. as means to tug on our heart strings whilst loosening our 'purse' strings as well. For example, here in Aus. we get inundated literally EVERY meal time on television with adverts from Save the Children, etc, so, through very thorough research I discovered that such organisations that 'claim' to be solely there to help the children, etc, ACTUALLY give only a small percentage of what they receive towards their aim, the majority of it goes to Administration, Advertising, etc, etc, SO now I ONLY give as directly as I can possibly manage to ensure that the majority of my gift/s DOES go directly to those in need and NOT to those administrating instead. Yes, I know it sounds uncharitable, BUT at least I can try to ensure that someone does NOT grow fat from the needs of those less fortunate,

That brings to mind a discussion I recently had with a few good friends where we posited that IF we removed the words God and Angels from the bible stories/tales and inserted such things as 'Extraterrestrial Commanders and their sub- commanders instead would that be a possibility that the ages old legends of " Peoples coming from the Stars" and intermingling with the primitive humans could be, in fact, somewhat distorted and adorned 'references' to early human history and human development? Since almost EVERY Culture/Race( for want of a better term) has its own 'legends', etc, referring to such Star Peoples visiting them from time to time could not they be the root source of these somewhat outlandish bible stories/tales, for example, Australian Aboriginals have legends of the " wandjinna," ( Sky Beings) who taught them about survival, their origins, etc, in this somewhat harsh land, the Ancient Egyptians had legends of their 'Gods' being from the skies, Norse Deities were said to live in and come from the Skies, the Mayans, Aztecs, Toltecs, Incas, etc, ALL shared similar tales and legends, even the early Europeans, etc, all had very similar stories/legends but every culture WAS separated by vast distances, often insurmountable ones as well, BUT those tales/legends ALL share a very similar theme do they not?

Had my 'mother' try to hammer into me her God beliefs, beliefs that were somewhat brought out ONLY when she needed to use them or suited her best btw, she forced me to attend Sunday School, even though she very rarely attended church herself and ONLY when and IF she thought it was necessary to 'keep up appearances.' But my Dad taught me to ask questions about the things I didn't understand and as such I got expelled from EVERY Sunday School held by every form of Christianity that was around the town. My Dad was proud of my expulsions, so proud that he kept a folder containing EVERY Expulsion letter and requested that they be buried with him ( which I made sure they were). Even at both Primary and Secondary School I managed to get myself marked as " Unwanted at Scripture Lessons" ( which were at the time Compulsory) and as such spent many a wonderful hour reading books in the School Library. At first, I was the only student on the " Unwanted List" but eventually the list grew to having 20 regular 'members' all gathered together in the library once ever week, though time amd years have since intervened, we still manage to occasionally keep in touch and reminisce over those wonderful times when we were left to learn about reality rather than religion.

Young rabbits as well as adult ones DO have tails but not as long as other animals and that definitely looks like a very young rabbit to me since they are born hairless at first.
This fits me to a tee...Pardon the pun!

Love it. I once had a shirt made with " Exposure to Religion can be harmful to your mental health" printed on it, it always caused quite a stir when ever the Faithfools saw me wearing it.

What about grief? How long should you wait to seriously consider trying to find a new relationship? ...
Triphid comments on Aug 23, 2019:
Anyone should take as long as they really need to grieve because it really depends upon the individual in my opinion. I still go through times where I grieve over the loss of my 16 year old Daughter even though it has been nearly 19 years now. But, to my regrets, I found that grief often foster feelings of utter loneliness and that was where I made a most regrettable mistake and fell for the ministrations of one those ' predatory' users ( there ARE both male and female ones btw) that thrive on the grief of others, I got into a relationship with her, married her THINKING I was besotted with her only to realise much later that she was using me and my grief as an exit strategy to escape the town where she lived and had built up a very bad reputation and wanted/needed to find fresher fields. Within less than 3 years I found out that she was 'playing the field' whilst I was watching her children and I forgave her the first time, like the forgiving sucker that I am, but the second time I told her NO MORE, and packed up her and her children ( none of them being mine by blood but loved by me none-the-less) and sent her on her way only to find afterwards that she had rippied me off for well over $1,800 before she left. Yes, I miss those 2 great children and the laughs I had with them around BUT the moral to my story is, " Do NOT let grief cloud your mind and loneliness take hold because when we are grieving THAT is precisely when we are at our emotional weakest and loneliness WILL take over, suppressing our inner cautiousness, often with disastrous results."

We are ALL here simply because at some time the sperm from your biological father entered the vagina of your soon to be biological mother, squeezed through the narrow opening of the cervix, up through her uterus, on into her Fallopian tube/s to meet up with her ovum, they connected and, VOILA, her ovum was fertilised and grew to become a foetus then a baby. A quite banal way of putting it all, I know, but none-the-less that is how it happens and what your 'purpose' in life is/will be is solely up to you, nothing more, nothing less.

Sounds to me like you've struck yet another of those Bible-Thumping Dictator type Professors. I ran up against a few of them when I started studying for my ThD through a PUBLIC University, not through a Seminary, they went as far as registering protests with the Dean of the University because I had openly declared that I was an Atheist, fortunately the Dean dismissed ALL their protests completely and firmly told them that the ENTIRE was to be taught as per the prescribed curriculum and that the curriculum IS open to ONE and ALL WITHOUT exception/bias,etc, etc. Now I proudly hold a Doctorate in Theology and Comparative Modern Religions, presented to me, personally, by the Dean himself.

In my 50+ years of life as an Atheist I can honestly state that I have met and known well far, far more decent, honest, caring Atheists/Agnostics than I have Believers/Faithfools. For example and a personal one at that, Some time ago I was walking back home from the nearby Supermarket when I spotted a car by the roadside with a flat tyre and an elderly lady attempting to change the tyre. I stopped, put down my bag of groceries and changed the tyre for her, when I was finished she said to me, " You ARE a true Christian Gentleman, thank you, what church do you attend?" I replied, openly and honestly, " I am an Atheist, I attend NO church." I then received a torrent of verbal abuse from her including, " Get away from me you evil, Heathen Bastard, I don't want to get infected by you." 1 week later, whilst standing in the corner shop, that very same elderly lady walked in, saw me and literally screamed out, " I've been a customer here for over 30 years, IF you are going to let Heathens like him patronise this place then I'll never cross your threshold ever again," and she literally stormed out slamming the door as well. The shop owner, whom I later found out was also an Atheist btw, sincerely and abjectly apologised to me in front of the other 5 or so customers for the embarrassment I must be feeling at receiving such unwarranted abuse. That IS just 1 case of the innumerable cases I could mention where Believers have proven themselves to judgmental, heartless, unkind, cruel and anti-social in my opinion.

Triphid comments on Aug 16, 2019:
As soon as I felt that my daughter was old enough to understand what I was explaining to her I told her the truth in words and ways that were appropriate to her level/s of comprehension at the time/s. By the time she was around 10 years old, she knew all about, except the nitty-gritty bits, the Facts of Life ( the Birds and Bees bit), was fascinated with things scientific, etc, and had formed her opinion that God/s never existed despite what her mother and others tried to tell her. Don't think for even ONE minute that children are DUMB, they are not, just answer their questions factually and in terms appropriate to their age and levels of comprehension BECAUSE they do and can understand much better than we give them credit for.

Triphid comments on Aug 16, 2019:
Logic WILL tell anyone that anything they've lost WILL be found in the very LAST place they look for it. It's kind of like the old story of a bloke who goes to church and asks God " If a million dollars to mortals is the same as a dollar to him and a minute to him is like a million years to mortals." God then replies, " Yes my child that is correct." The bloke then asks, " Well God could you perhaps loan me a dollar, I'm broke and my family are starving?' God replies, " No problem my child, just give me a few minutes to think it over."

Triphid comments on Aug 10, 2019:
I am and always have been an Atheist since my childhood when I came to realise that there ARE, and never will be, ANY Logical Reasonings/Reasons as to why there must be or ever has been a Supreme Deity/God because, to put it simply, everything occurs due to the forces, etc, of Nature in a completely Natural World. A truly thinking person will say " I don't know, BUT I WILL seek out the answers," where those who are afraid or wish to gain control, etc, will respond, almost immediately, with something like " Everything is the work and will of a Greater Power/God/Deity/Deities and we should NEVER question it again."
Are people that don't reason humans?
Triphid comments on Aug 10, 2019:
Well, like it or not, we ARE all members of the species of Homo Sapiens, even those who are dull, etc, etc. However, having said that, TRYING to get a Faithfool to see or use reasoning is like taking a horse to water and making it drink, it IS nigh nearly impossible task.
How do you deal with having to hide your atheism?
Triphid comments on Aug 10, 2019:
Sounds truly difficult for you, but I live in Australia and here we don't, so far, need to hide our Atheism/Agnosticism so I'm very up-front about it, though I still get the Faithfools trying to preach to me. Al I can suggest is to hold true your Non-beliefs, stay free of their mind-washing attempts and NEVER give in.

Define Cult.... Define Religion.... Describe the differences:
Triphid comments on Aug 8, 2019:
Cult = a belief system centred around a 'deified' figure, prophet, etc, Religion = the system of belief engendered by the same 'deified' figure, prophet, etc, Both, imho, are completely baseless, founded solely upon presumptions, assumptions, etc, and imaginings with the added bonuses to the Founder/s/ Purveyors of a steady and reliable source of financial income.

More than likely there as many women out there who commit D.V. as there are men BUT men are often brought up to believe that they should either "take it like a man," or simply remain silent about it. We should TRY to remember that D.V. comes in as many forms as any other type of Abuse, i.e. Physical, Emotional, Psychological, etc, AND not ALL them leaves visible scars. I, for one, can attest to being on the receiving end of D.V. during my first marriage, I still bear the pains from the physical injuries to my lower spine and neck vertebra as well as the emotional/psychological unseen scars.

Even though we, here in Australia are, perhaps, stuck with a Happy Clappy, Jesus Chappy as Prime Minister for next 3 years, unless the Lib-Nationals have another of the hissy fits that is, we are still a country, for the most part, that is still quite okay with people NOT being religious, i.e. Atheists, etc.
