Back in the days when religion held 'sway' here in Australia I remember there being what was colloquially known as the "6 o'clock Swill" at hotels where the patrons where required by Law to cease drinking at 6 pm sharp because of a similar reason. Plus ALL Hotels and Clubs where closed tight shut on Sunday mornings everywhere within the town/city limits UNTIL after 1.00pm on Sundays. Many a local family would have the usual 'Sunday Lunch' then get in to the family car and head out for a 'Sunday Drive' to the nearest hotel that was well and truly outside the town/city limits. The kids would get a 'Pub Raspberry' or 'Pub Squash' to drink and a packet of potato chips and the parents would all sit back and enjoy a beer or two. Happily, for now at least, things here have changed for the better and Pubs and Clubs are open on Sundays. There used to be a similar thing with Supermarkets here as well but now that too has gone by the wayside.

I tend to think that while some people merely see colour/s as exactly what they are a sort of plain, base colours and they have simple type of conception of them, but when I look at trees, landscapes, the sky, etc, etc, I feel, for want of a better expression, and see the nuances in them and that they aren't quite as simple, base and staid as they may seem to others. Depends mostly on the material the conduit is made of, if it is plastic you can possibly bend it to the shape desired by first putting a decent amount of dry sand inside the conduit then sealing both ends with a cork, put the conduit into boiling water until the area that you want to bend softens and gently bend around a solid piece of metal piping with same diameter as you want the bend to take on. The sand usually stops the conduit from 'pinching' in on itself as you bend, but best to practice on scrap pieces until you've got it down pat first though.

A little personal anecdote here that may interest many. In April, 2000 while my daughter was going through Chemotherapy ( I was with her 24/7 btw), I had the opportunity to fulfill one of life-long wishes, the being to go out and watch the whales as they migrated around South Australian waters. I was lucky in that I found the Captain of Fishing Trawler who had retired from fishing and had set his boat up as a Whale Watching boat instead. After telling him what I was trying to do, he agreed that he could take Lorrae, myself and 8 other children plus a nurse out to see if we could find any whales, the cost surprised me, he was asking a mere $5.00 per head and would supply both a Morning, a Lunch and an Afternoon Tea for everyone as well. We were about 30 miles out from land when a Hump-back broke the surface followed by a smaller one, which we later were told was most likely her Calf. The kids were awestruck as the whale was only about 150-200 yards away from the boat, but things changed for the better when the Hump-back turned slowly and seemed quite deliberately to move towards the boat with the kids along the port side railings. She and her calf, then began to swim around the boat in slowly decreasing circles until she reached the side of the boat, stopped and 'hovered' in the water actually touching the boat. A few mments went by and and then this huge flipper of hers came out of the water and she rested on the railings right were the kids were as if asking the everyone to pat/stroke her flipper. Everyone, including the Captain, patted her Flipper, she then moved slightly away from the boat, turned and pushed her calf alongside the boat and lifted the calf's head clear of the water so it too was level with the railings for , we assumed , the kids to pat the calf as well. While all that was happening, the Captain, tapped me on the shoulder and pointed towards the stern of the boat and said, "We've got more visitors over there, this must be our lucky day." About 50 yards to the stern there were 6 more Hump-backs swimming slowly and calmly on the surface led by what I assume was the very big Bull Hump-back. But, besides the smiles and enjoyments on the faces of the kids, I'll always remember the look in the eye of the female Hump-back, it was so kind, caring and almost a sweet and loving look that you can only get from a friend who truly cares.

Yes it does work to some extent since drying laundry on a clothes line in sunlight does kill off most bacteria and viruses. Having low output UVC lights was tried and tested at the Broken Hill and District Hospital in 1972 - 1974 and was found to be most effective, it was continued in use until some 'bright spark' from a University decided to deem that is was 'Risk to the Public' simply because, as it was later found, that, 1) he had a slight case of a reaction, visually speaking, to staring at 'Black Lights in Discos, etc, and, 2) that, as was later discovered btw, that his family had shares in a very large producer of Antiseptic Solutions, etc, etc. so the Government Health Department Foo-Fooed the whole idea and within a matter of a few weeks the whole local Hospital was battling a massive outbreak of Pseudomonus Pycenias, a very virulent form of bacteria that invades wounds and literally eats away the living flesh. I still use a UVC low-level output bulb ( aka Black Light) in my hallway at home as a first line response to bacteria, etc, as well as shunning Clothes Dryers in favour of drying my laundry the natural way using the UV light from the sun to sterilise my clothing, etc. I'd recommend Black Light to anyone in times like these as well as drying your laundry in the sunlight since Dryers do NOT remove/destroy bacteria, etc, etc.

I was with my 15 year old Daughter, 24/7 for the 10 months of Chemo for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and with her through the remission period until it returned and we were re-admitted to hospital until she passed away on January 7th, 2001. We suffered with people telling us that her cancer was " part of God's plan for her," she got cancer because she was defective and so she deserved it," " she was diseased and cancer was contagious," and innumerable other utter bullshit things from ADULTS who should KNOW better. It continued during the remission period as well and I so much felt like punching these rank IDIOTS in the mouth so often but actually managed to restrain the urges somehow. All I offer and say is " Don't let these arse-wipes get to you, DON'T let them get you down, you ARE stronger and better than they can EVER hope to be BECAUSE you ARE a Survivor."
