@FrayedBear @FrayedBear, 1) NOT ALL mental illnesses are caused by what you 'call' the defective gene heritage and Mental Illness Institutions ARE NOT always full of such patients, etc, and, most are now called Psychiatric Hospitals btw. 2) Is it not time that you ceased LABELLING those who are unfortunate to be enduring such Mental/Psychological Illness in such a foul, derisive, degrading and totally abusive manner? 3) YES, many of we Australians can trace, proudly I might add, our Ancestry back to those whom Darling Mother England sent over here in chains and as little more than SLAVES to the Squatters and the like BUT at least we ARE NOT 10 Quid (Pounds Sterling) Aussies, we EARNED the right to live here via the Blood, Sweat and Toils of our Ancestors. DID YOU? 4) Try doing some ACTUAL researching for a change, MOST so-called 'convicts' were shipped BECAUSE they stole. poached, etc, the barest needs for survival of themselves or their families AS DID one of my Irish-English Ancestors who was aged just 14 years when convicted for taking an already DEAD rabbit to feed his very hungry siblings. BTW, he GOT 7 years and transportation for that. 5) try being an Aussie instead of a poor imitation of a whinging Pom for a change, you live HERE now NOT England.

@Sticks48 I'll have to watch "The Longest Day" to check upon it BUT I think he played an ordinary soldier in one of the Beach landing scenes. He played a really great role in " Hunt for Red October" and it beats me WHY the f**k they cast that rank maniac Mel Gibson in the role of William Wallace in "Braveheart" when Connery could do a far, far better job with his eyes closed AND he had the Scots accent to boot. Btw, I have the twin pack DVD of Longest Day and Tora, Tora, Tora in my ever growing collection.

@FrayedBear As to the familial relationship, if any, between Noel and Mad Mark Latham I wouldn't have a clue. WE are NOT a country of inbred, colonial hicks and drooling half-wits as your suggestion seems to imply. IF you want to look for the end results of inbreeding then look no further than the so-called English Nobility and the self-proclaimed Royal families, etc, etc. The REAL and TRUE people of this country fought tooth and nail through floods, droughts and hardship upon hardship to make something of themselves, for themselves and in many, many cases, BY themselves and still do to make something of this harsh country in which we all live. Btw, HAVE YOU ever stopped to consider that IT MAY just be your ATTITUDE, etc, when dealing with people like your G.P. or your local M.P., etc, etc, that IS the actual ROOT Cause of the situations and NOT them?

Hey, despite what I seem to see as your 'conspiracy theories, ' I still far far prefer the ALP over the LNP. Back when we had Gough Whitlam and the ALP this country was prospering and growing because the ALP stood for the average people be they unionists or not. Btw, FrayedBear, please don't try to convince me of the so-called 'evils' of Unionism when I was born and raised in one the then BIGGEST Producing Mining Towns in Australia. Under the hob-nailed boots of the Big Australian, B.H.P., men, women and children were actually living as near damned to ABJECT poverty UNTIL a Union was formed. Then came the Workers Strikes for better wages, shorter hours, better working conditions, NO child/person under 16 years to be employed underground or above ground on the mines. Men worked up to and including 14 hours per day, 6 days per week in conditions that would be considered today as SLAVERY and continuous danger and peril as well. Should you EVER get the chance, come up here and take a look at the Miners Memorial first hand, you WILL see how many lost their lives to make B.H.P. and the other companies richer than Croesus and ALL through the Blood, Sweat and Tears from the Miners and their families who left behind to grieve. Unionism is a protection for the Workers AGAINST the exploitations of the Companies and the Bosses my friend. It was a very sad and most unfortunate day when the LNP Weasel, one Noel Latham, tore down the Unions here to the level they are now in. Men in the mines here NOW work 12 hour shifts, 10 days on and 4 days off, day shift starts at 7.00am and finishes at 7.00pm, night shift starts at 7.00pm and finishes at 7.00am the next morning, the miners HAVE to be at work and ready to go underground by 6.30am/6.30pm EVERY shift or they are suspended or sacked on the spot, NO excuses accepted either. So don't tell me that Unionism is bad and the ALP is ruled over by Union Bosses, Banks, International Companies and the U.S. The ALP may have lost its way these days BUT your precious LNP is in the pockets of the Banks, etc, etc, for far and deeply that they have NOT seen the light of day for decades.
Well, in case anyone may be interested.

@Thirst2learn Oh dear, I think we have yet another of those poor delude Faithfools here perhaps. NO, schools ARE not the "Alpha Bullies," they are, in most cases, places of Learning, unless of course they are run by Religiously based Institutions. For, and speaking here as a Psychologist of some note, I would state and affirm that the Prime Alpha Bully of ALL would have to the Abrahamic God and his sub-Alphas would be those who claim to be his Priests, Ministers, etc. Since, does it NOT state in bible that this very, and most Invisible, Imaginary Deity STATES clearly the words " Thou SHALT NOT....." with the innuendos of " Should you disobey/oppose me then I SHAL condemn you fot ALL Eternity to Hell-fire and Torture." I've never ONCE heard of such a thing being expressed anywhere else EXCEPT in Religiously operated Schools and Institutions. And YES, I agree completely with @Aristippus' comment, for religions such as Catholicism teach and DEMAND totally, unwavering OBEDIENCE just as does any Alpha bully or his/her subordinates. And Yes, the so-called Teachers/Leaders in such schools as I mentioned earlier in this very response ARE the Wolves and their students are just the sheep, i.e, sheeple, being trained and taught to lead to the slaughter, so to speak, as meekly and mildly as possible.

Triphid replies on Oct 30, 2020:
@Thirst2learn "Also, religion favors the Underdog, not the alpha," there I disagree with you on some points. E.g. would you describe the Tithe Collectors (Priests, etc, ) as being Underdogs or would you describe the Faithfools/Gob-mobsters as being the Underdogs? In the animal world, to which, btw, we do actually belong, the Alpha gets the best does he/she not, and the sub-members have to obey the Alpha, etc, etc. Ergo, the Tithe Collector/s can be seen as being the 'Alphas' and the Tithe Payers being the Underdogs since they MUST obey and pay heed to the wishes, etc, of the Alpha Tithe Collectors. Also, in the animal world, the Alpha is often toppled by the sub-member who grows stronger as the Alpha ages, this I have seen often, first hand among the Kangaroo populations here in Australia and on many a documentary as well. But in religion, the Alpha, Tithe Collector, remains as the Alpha until, in many cases, he passes his Alpha position onto his chosen Successor as in many of these Televangelist cult systems or as in Catholicism/Anglicanism, etc, is 'replaced by the choice of an Uber-Alpha, i.e, the Pope, etc, etc.

@FrayedBear Yes and no, depending solely upon the circumstances, i.e. in their original nomadic existences it was a good thing since each of the clan/tribe cared for and shared with all others hence facilitating the survival of all, BUT in this modern world, not so good simply because it permits/allows those who choose NOT to become self-supporting, etc, to instead become the 'parasites' of those who have chosen to be self-supportive. Unfortunately it IS NOT confined ONLY the Aboriginals, it is also VERY prevalent among the Western Cultures as well.

@FrayedBear Well, it seems that you haven't experienced the "Rellies" situation that many of the good decent Aboriginal families have to endure then. The "Rellies" situation is where someone like my Good and Great Friend, Bev, ( a First Nation person btw) gets a house, makes good of herself, and in Bev's case, "adopts," in her own words, "a few stray kids/youths,' and suddenly the relatives(?) all appear from nowhere EXPECTING to be accommodated totally free of charge and for as long as they see fit. It took ,literally, 3 years of hard talking to actually convince Bev that she should accept the Aged Pension rather than relying upon her ever dwindling finances. Then another 3+ years to help her rid herself of the 'hangers-on' and get herself into a far smaller, easier to care for Community style Housing Complex where there is ONLY 1 bedroom, a kitchen, Dining area, bathroom, etc, etc, and NO room for the 'hangers-on' any more. Within a month she was actually pleasantly surprised at and by the amount of her pension that she had left after each fortnight instead of seeing literally eaten up by furnishing meals, etc. for others who were merely' using her.'

I wonder if the same result would have been obtained if the religion was other than Catholic? What is the ethnicity of the child victim? Does the case set precedent for future cases say against police for mistreatment of First Nations when arrested or targeted?
Triphid replies on Oct 30, 2020:
@FrayedBear Hey, I've known many a 'First Nations' people in my years and, technically by heritage am one of them. Amongst a lot of them there seems to an ethic of sorts that is kind of like " We can do anything we like/see fit BECAUSE WE do NOT come under White Fellas Laws, we are Aboriginals." Yet, those very same people are the first in line when it comes to reaping the benefits of White Fella Society, etc, etc. Yes, there ARE the good and decent ones as well and I also know many of them, BUT, the problems DO exist, for example, First Nation children of ALL ages are left to roam the streets at ALL hours day and night, here there are a certain number of families, whose last names I will not mention, with Police records stretching back almost as far as the eye can see, records for crimes such as Theft, Break and Enter, Drug Dealing, Disturbing the Peace, Drunk and Disorderly, Common Assault, Assault Causing G.B.H., Domestic Violence, Motor Vehicle Theft/s, Rape plus a whole lot more. So when you read about How bad things are for the First Nation Peoples TRY to remember that at LEAST 60% of it IS HYPE put out by the WHITE Do-Gooder Advisers who are making a fortune, literally, from it all and doing almost ZERO to help solve the problem.

Triphid replies on Oct 30, 2020:
@whiskywoman It would work. There was a case back in the mid 70's in a Gold mining town in W.A. Australia when the 'Ladies of the Night" went on a full on strike due to their 'employers' NOT having sufficient security and safety for their workers. Within a few days the married and single women of the town joined in with a kind of solidarity and brought in the 'No Sex Rule' on a total town-wide basis. There were, and still are, hundreds, if not thousands of men working in the mines there, and the 'repercussions' tremendous to say the least. Houses of 'Adult Entertainment' were literally 'Closed for Business,' the Street Walkers were also on strike, single men and married men alike were 'suffering' Forced Abstinence for well over a month, the numerous hotels were literally barring patrons by the dozens mainly because the male patrons were somewhat in a frustrated state and drinking to relieve their frustrations and getting into huge brawls, etc. Finally an 'agreement' was reached between parties and things improved immensely for the 'Ladies of the Night.' So, to my mind, the "Power of the Pussy" (so to speak and apologies for the crudity as well) IS truly a Power to behold.

@FrayedBear Well to the best of my understanding compensation comes from the Victims of Crime Funds initially and the Offenders are forced by law to relinquish monies, etc, to cover costs and compensations. It appears that Covid may be making life a bit 'tough' for Dealers and Junkies these days. It is a similar situation as is in use when it comes to arrest and conviction of Drug Dealers and Suppliers where the Police SIEZE ALL assets of those convicted. Just as they did here last Monday when the BIG Drug Busts occurred, 4 houses raided in quick succession, 5 arrested, approx. 1 million + dollars worth of Meth and pills, etc, and numerous unlicensed firearms a well. Plus, last weekend, and this IS no joke, a bloke decided to try and 'cover up' the odours emanating from his 'little Crack cooking Enterprise' by burning furniture in his backyard at 4.00am. The Firies and Police arrived because neighbours lodge complaints about the smoke and found his 'little' kitchen in full swing.

FYI, EACH newly 'elected' Pope gets a COMPLETEY new and VERY expensive wardrobe, a NEW and extremely expensive Papal ring, etc, etc, costing approx. 1 to 1.5 MILLION dollars U.S. ALL Papal apparel IS Tailor made by the most expensive Tailoring Firm in Italy and hand sewn from SILK with 24 carat gold thread, etc, sewn into it and most of the wardrobe is replaced at 1-2 yearly intervals until the reigning Pope dies. When EACH Pope kicks the bucket, EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING belonging to that Pope is destroyed INCLUDING the Papal ring/s.

@Cecilia2018 Listening to the excuses put forward by scum like those bastards really turns my stomach. "Women CONSENT to being raped," fucking unmitigated misogynistic bullshit of the very worst kind. Imo, RAPE occurs because MALES, a percentage them btw, do not have the inner strength to control their sexual urges, maturity has S.F.A. to do with it. Some of the MAIN causes, imo, of Rape are, 1) The world has lived far too long under the ideology of a Male Right to dominate women, this has been the result of at least 90% of Religious teachings and ideologies, Christianity being a PRIME example, Islam is another, 2) the 'eradication/loss' of the Chivalric idea/s of Honouring and Protecting women/females. Something that was instilled into me by my father and that I still adhere to strongly, 3) Western Justice systems seem to appear as though they ARE intent upon putting a high percentage of the blame on the victims thus to mitigate the actions of the Offender, and last but by no means least, 4) The Education system does NOT teach or FAILS miserably to teach that Women/Females ARE NOT merely Sexual Objects there to be lusted after, etc, etc.

Stupid. I'm not taking the side of the terrorists, but doesn't Charlie Hebdo know that they're just asking for it?

@Fit50something And, imo, it IS most likely those are the 'people' that these Fundie Terrorists types will still kill without first asking questions anyway. Have you ever tried taking a GOOD long look at how things truly were in Germany from circa 1930 to 1945-46? Regimes like the Fascist, etc, etc, thrived on those who would NOT stand up to be counted but still they too suffered and often died at the hands of those who oppressed them. Imo, EVERYONE is in some kind of danger should Fundamentalist Islam be allowed to spread its cancer throughout the world.
Dictator Dan is really getting too much.

Well, imo, if people can't be bothered about keeping themselves and others Covid Safe then I agree with him 1,000%. Try to remember that, A) we ARE all in the same boat during these times, B) It only takes 1 SINGLE infected person to infect a minimum of 3 others, those 3 can then go on and infect...

@powder "storm in tea cup" you say, well I say take a good long LOOK at the world-wide Infections and Death Tolls and then repeat that is just "A Storm in tea cup."

@Fit50something I tend to think that they decided for themselves to post cartoons of the Muslim Prophet ( Pox be upon him) rather than were literally forced to do so.
'Worship protest' expected to draw thousands to National Mall [thehill.

FFS, up goes the infection rates in the U.S. yet again. On average, it takes just ONE person to infect another 3 people, those 3 can go on and infect a minimum of 9 more, those 9 can go on and infect at least another 27 and so on and so forth, the infection rate rises and rises exponentially. It ...

@AmyTheBruce I know this may well come across as being somewhat uncaring and totally apathetic BUT, imo, at least under tRump the Undertakers are doing a Roaring Trade.
Here is a question to ask theists. Do you believe in ALIEN ABDUCTIONS?

As the pilot from Cyngus Major said to the pilot from Andromeda, " Jesus Christ, never heard of her and I've been everywhere Man." LOL. And YES, I can honestly state that, once when on a fishing trip with my father and a great school friend we did see what can be described as being a 'U.F.O.' of...

@TimeOutForMe Not actually the 'craft' as such, just the very brilliant light from it, far more brilliant than anything around back in the late 60's. Our rough estimation was that it was around 40-50 feet across, no blinding glare, no sound at all and simply stayed in one place without even being affected by the winds without even wavering as a helicopter normally does. Our camp-site faced due west, the stretch of river ran north to south, at first it was thought to be the sun rising until we tried to switch on the transistor radio, but no dial light, no sound, not even the crackle of static. That lasted for about 15-20 minutes, then the light just continued following the river very slowly and in a dead straight course until it was complete out of sight. 3 days later, when we returned home the newspaper were covered in stories of almost the same thing as what we saw but the stories came from places within 60-70 miles from where we were camped and all reports had almost the same time, description as well as a loss of electrical power associated with it. Plus, it is very usual and normal for the Graziers in this part of Australia to get up around 4-5 am each day to get their working day off to an early start especially during the summer time when the temperatures can reach well over 35-40 degrees Celsius by midday.
What is the strangest thing ever said to you after hearing you’re an atheist?
Triphid comments on Oct 24, 2020:
I've copped a few odd ones ( reactions) in my time. One that I remember quite clearly went something like this, " You're an Atheist, a Nurse, a Mid-wife and you do NOT believe that your skills came to you as a gift from God, how can that be?"
Triphid replies on Oct 24, 2020:
@Wildgreens Yes, back in those days, the early 70's it meant 6 weeks every year for 3 years spent in a Training School then the rest of the time in the Wards with hands on work rather than sitting at a desk in a University as they do these days. For the first 12 months you could 100% certain that you'd cop every shitty job, and I do mean shitty btw, that came along plus, as a Trainee MALE nurse I was expected to do work that was reserved mainly for the Wardsmen/Portering Staff as well and was paid around $20 per week LESS than the female nurses of the same grade.
