@PondartIncbendog No, Emus are BIRDS, bloody BIG birds, they actually make a rudimentary 'nest' on the ground, merely a rough circle shape of of piled up loose soil with a few leaves in the middle. They are omnivorous and eat vegetation, small lizards, small rodents ( field mice), insects, frogs and even carrion when times are tough as well, BUT they do NOT weave webs.

@girlwithsmiles No probs, I suppose each different country/culturehas their terminologies for when Ewes, etc, deliver their young. Over here we call "tupping" letting the rams ( usually Sheep Graziers over here keep a maximum of 1 Ram, sometimes 2) in with the Ewes, and "Lambing is when the Ewes deliver their lambs. Lamb-marking is when the flock, as with on my friends Property, is Mustered, driven in to the Mustering Yards, the Lambs are separated out from the Ewes ( temporarily) and the male lambs are 'knackerized' ( have their 'family jewels cut off' and then a constrictor ring is placed around the base of tail on ALL lambs to remove the tail and stop 'dags' ( bundles of sheep manure) from sticking to the tails and attracting Blow-flies. Actually, these days almost ALL Graziers over here now use constrictors rings for both lamb-marking jobs rather than the old fashioned sharp knife and a quick nick.

@Allamanda Well, in actualfact and as I posted above, Ewes can breed within 2-3 weeks of weaning a lamb IF there is a ram/ram-lamb around them. Usually a ram-lamb is not fully sexually mature until around 6 - 8 months of age BUT there are copious documented evidences of ram-lambs, around 5- 6 motnths of age who have actually impregnated their own mothers. That is the reason why Sheep Graziers here 'lamb mark' around 3 -3 and a half months AFTER the Ewes have dropped their lambs.

@girlwithsmiles Culling is NOT a permanent solution to the bigger problem of the continual breeding, etc, that WILL occur. Here in Australia we have been culling Camel Populations for decades now and we have NOT even made much more than a mere scratch, so to speak. I don't know how the Sheep Farmers operate where you are BUT here the Sheep Graziers only turn the Rams out amongst the Ewes once every year, i.e. in late Summer/Early Autumn, so the Ewes lamb around Mid to Late Winter. So, IF the Rams were left to 'run' with Ewes 365 days per year then once Ewes had weaned one dropping of lambs then, most likely, as with Goats ( a somewhat close relative of Sheep, there would be at least another crop of lambs arriving later in that year and so on and so forth, would that not be so? Oh, and to save you from researching, Sheep(Ewes) have a regular fertility cycle of 17 days and IF not mated will repeat that cycle continuously UNTIL mated.

@girlwithsmiles Yea the 'Bush Chooks' will usualy just miil about UNTIL you approach them or they decide that you are a threat, then they WILL come after you. They are also a very curious bird, the Aborigines used to catch them by hiding behind a bush and kicking up dust, the Emus would come to see what was causing the dust then the hunters would grab one or two and kill it. They are also attracted to spot-lights shone from vehicles at night when people are out hunting for rabbits, etc, they will come right up to car by following the beam of the spot-light. Only the male "Bush Chooks" incubate the eggs and raise the young, once she's laid the eggs the female wanders off, mates with another male, lays eggs again and wanders to do the same thing over and over again. Rules of Thumb out here in the Aussie outback, A) Never approach a nesting male Bush Chook, B) Never go near a male Bush Chook with young around him, C) IF you startle a male Bush Chook either run like the wind ( depending on how far away he was in the beginning) or hide behind a big tree, climb the tree or hide in a gully out of sight because the male Bush Chooks are very vicious, especially when caring for their young.

Triphid replies on May 13, 2020:
@Fred_Snerd Just out curiousity here Fred_Snerd, since so many Vegans say we should stop eat meat from animals we breed solely for that purpose then what will happen to all those sheep, fore example, that breed every year, have lambs, sometimes even twin, need shearing, crutching, drenching, feeding, watering, etc, etc? 1 Ram can 'service' ( mate with) some 300+ Ewes in 1 single night thus impregnating at least 85% od those Ewes and resulting in an 85% INCREASE in the size and population of EACH flock. So, mathematically, year ! there are 386 sheep roaming free, year 2 there are 381 sheep and lambs roaming free, year 3 there are another 385 sheep PLUS another 85% of those with lambs in tow and so on and so forth EVERY year. Now that is JUST using sheep as an example, so aprrox. within the space of a mere 10 years we would have, considering that Sheep Farmers usually number their flocks in THOUSANDS and not mere Hundreds, we would be literally inundated with Sheep needing to feed, etc, using, not Hundreds of tons of feed btw, BUT thousands, if not Millions, of tons of feed, etc, etc, roaming free and even raiding agricultural plots, etc, everywhere and anywhere. Has ANY Vegan/Animal Rights Activist, etc, ever actually bothered to do that calculation? Yes, we COULD force sterilzation upon these sheep, but would that not be akin animal cruelty as well?

@FrayedBear One of the reasons why I went from being a nurse to the railways ( final job btw) was because it was heart-breaking to see little children suffering and dying due to parental neglect. But even that was over-shadowed by the utter carnage that I saw at collisions, etc, between trains and people/cars and the like. Though I must admit we did have the odd funny one from time to time, like when the Indian Pacific arrived at the Station one morning and I was summoned down to 'help' get a lady free from the toilet where her bum had gotten stuck. She had gotten out of the shower to attend to a 'call of nature and while being wet all over the train had to brake suddenly and her nether region had become firmly wedged in. She asked me IF I could doanything to help her and me thinking, quite quickly, looked to see that she was holding a Steston type hat over her lap so I just said to her, " Sure, I can get you out of this mess BUT I don't think there's much I can do about the cowboy though, I reckon he's definitely a goner." Never saw anyone laugh as much as she did though after she heard that.

There are also those 'coconut types', unfortunately, who claim to cling to their Indigenous Heritage for the convenience of it and the 'extra' benefits they get from it. So the Australian Aboriginal Culture and Heritage of some 40,000+ years ago is still alive and kicking. And ,you are talking to an Aussie who has Aboriginal blood fromtwo separate clans/tribes within him PLUS both Cherokee and Navajo blood and European blood ( from many Ethnicities as well).

Male kangaroos do a very much similar thing as well and I have seen both Emus and 'Roos kill many a dog that way and even nursed a bloke who was attacked by an Emu and had his abdomen ripped open, luckily he was with other people who had the sense to chase the Emu away, wrap his abdomen in Clingwrap and then do a very fast and rapid run to the hospital in time to save his life. @Robecology Well DEAD is DEAD, Live is LIVE and the technicians making vaccines ensure that the virus is DEAD hence it cannot infect the patient. Actual 'immunity' to Covid brought about by infection has yet to be proven as there have quite a number of cases of re-infection reprted as well qacross the Globe. Though there are those who are suspected of being a-symptomatic Carriers as well just as there have always 'Carriers' for other diseases throughout history. There also is a difference between Immunity and Resistance when it comes to diseases and many other things that can be named, e.g. the web of a piece of railway line IS resistant to the constant pressures, etc, of the weight and vehicle vibrations traveling over it BUT it is NOT immune to the impact of a high velocity, hig powered bullet fired into from 50 t0 100 yards away, the bullet punches a neat hole straight through the steel web with relative ease and this 'experiment I have personally tried using a .243 calibre rifle. Sadly, human disease resistance is a hereditary thing whereas immunity comes mainly after the initialinfect has benn fought by the Immunity system itself.

Triphid replies on May 12, 2020:
You do realize that the Australian Aboriginal Heritage can be dated back to at least 40,000 year ago. That IS some 39,400+ years before the U.S.A. was INVADED by Europeans btw. Their Culture and Heritage IS the oldest Living Culture and Heritage on this planet and SHOULD be conserved, not destroyed by the sick whims of some dreamed up Middle Eastern Religion like the Non-Indigenous Americans have done to the Indigenous Natives of almost ALL of both parts of the American Continents.

@FrayedBear Yeah, SOME of what they show in movies can be quite factual but are nowhere near as gory and sicken as it is in real life. We had an 'episode' once of a bloke, estimated at being around late Teens early 20's ( could ONLY estimate age because of the mess he was made into btw) who decided to 'show off' to his mates and jump over a moving Freight train on a 185cc Yamaha trail-bike. Both him and the bike were literally SPLATTERED across two freight containers and also in between them both, we searched the area of the 'impact site' for over a 500 metre radius and could not find either his head or crash helmet.

@Merseyman1 Lorrae had a vertible list of favourite songs, ones like Cocomo, Bette Davis Eyes, Wild Thing, the theme from Dr. Who and the theme from Harry and the Hendersons and dozens more. I often wondered if she was the only kid around who had her own portable cassette player by the age of 4.

Triphid replies on May 12, 2020:
@Robecology Most vaccines contain what is known as an 'Attenuated' form of the infective virus, i.e. the virus is already DEAD but the immune system still recognises it and then sets about producing the correctly coded Immune System cells to correspond with and inhibit the projecting attachments of the virus that allows it to attach to and inject itself into the human cells so it can reproduce. That is, basically how vaccines are made, designed and work.

@FrayedBear No, FrayedBear, it flew into the Driver's Cab of an 80 Class Diesel-Electric Locomotive while the train was still travelling at 80 kilometres an hour. Needless to say, the Crew abandoned the cab and finished the journey by driving from the rear( second) cab. Though it had smashed through windscreen, the Eagle survived to fly another day AFTER we had arrived in Broken Hill and managed to get a Vet to sedate it and take it to the Vet Clinic. Some 'wag' with a sense of humour actualy painted the word "Eagle" on the sides of the 80 Class Loco and after that Loco 8031 was always know, affectionately,as the Eagle.

@FrayedBear, @powder I'm NOT trying to put a 'Guilt Trip' on you or anyone else for that matter BUT IAM trying to explain to you that perhaps yielding a wee bit of your rights/beliefs at this time is a good thing. Scenario 1), You shower, get dressed in fresh clothing, sanitise your hands, put on a mask, go out and get into your car or catch Public Transport, go to visit your friend/relative in the Nursing Home, correct? Now how many people, friends or strangers have you crossed paths with during that time? How many are just Carriers of the virus, no symptoms, just carriers? They may well have breathed within range of you, the virus may well have attached itself to your clothing, you may have even breathed it in, you may just pass it on to the person you are visiting as well, all these are NOT beyond the realms of reality btw. Scenario 2), you may not be carring the Covid virus BUT you may, unknowingly, be carrying the Flu virus and that may travel from you to the one whom you are visiting, that person is elderly/disabled/ have a low Immunity response or no Immune systemat all and 'BINGO,' they now have either the Flu virus or even worse on them, they then pass it on the next person, unknowingly, then the next, the next and the next and so it goes on and on. That, Sirs, is, in simple terms, how viruses travel, infect, etc, etc. Caution over personal rights and beliefs take precedence over EVERYTHING else in times like these in my Opinion as a Nurse with many, many years of experience dealing with such things.

Let me TRY my hardest and the simplest terms I can manage to explain to you WHY your assertion is 100% wrong and so far up the creek you've reached the point of No Return. 1) BEER, IS a combination of numerous molecules, NOT separate atoms, it contains numerous chemical elements drawn from the grains, etc, used to brew it, 2) BEER is what is known as a MELANGE of chemicals, etc, in a liquid form, i.e. a Chemical Ester, 3) Beer contains molecules of hydrogen and oxygen combined together as water, molecules of Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, etc, etc, combined together to form Hydrocarbon chains, molecules, that form the Alocohol content of the Beer, and last, but by no means least, 4) Albert Einstein did NOT split any atom/s during his whole life time, he merely theorised and proposed that it was possible to " split the Uranium atom and thus cause Nuclear Fision to occur," hence came for the Manhattan Project and the development, sadly, of the A-Bombs which destroyed Nagasaki and Hiroshima in 1945.

If the whole of Australian Government actions re- Corona virus weren't so ridiculously mis-matched nation-wide they might be funny. @FrayedBear, @powder Hey, I had 2 Uncles serve in WWII one at Tobruk and then in Europe, the other on the Kodado Track and then through the islands as well. I also had a Great-Uncle who was at Gallipoli for the whole time of that bloody, useless, needless debacle and Slaughter so I respect our Diggers as much anyone can. Being vaccinated is NOT, imo, a Fascist action/regulation, it IS for the safety of yourself and everyone else, and the age of the person, etc, should never matter. Up until I was approx. 17, I suffered regular bouts of either severe Bronchitis or Pneumonia from as early as 6 months old, to quote the Family G.P. I "was at Death's Door many times and pulled back by my sheer will to live," and it ain't no pretty sight nor experience that I'd want to go through ever again.

@FrayedBear A surgical mask should never be sprayed any disinfectant since the waerer will be inhaling the fumes directly and unadulterated. I use Glen 20 as a disinfectant spraying medium but nowhere near or on my face, even thaough it is a quite effective disinfectant and germicide, etc.

It would be the affiliates and why would the networks disallow this? It doesn't break any laws and in certain demographics, could be quite lucrative to air.

Oh YEAH, gotta keep on selling God and Jesus to the masses, gotta keep those donations a-rolling in, the Preacher has HUGE expenses he has to cover, Jet Fuel doesn't come cheap you know, neither do Armani suits and top of the range cars, shoes, watches, mansions and all the other trappings a Man of God requires.

Well funny you should mention it but yesterday I saw an ad (in Australia) for an evangelical style 'pastor' and it stuck in my mind because I don't recall seeing anything like it before. Is it a planetary take over I wonder? Or maybe I have just blocked them out over the years and have not been ...

Geez Louise, don't you get the 'Free-to-Air Stations we get over here in NSW? IF not your very lucky because we are now stuck with Channel 54, I think that is its number, a TV Channel dedicated to the likes of Jimmy Swaggart, etc, etc, 24/7. Mind you, my Evangelidiot neighbour is very upset and disappointed that I refuse to have or watch such drivel. Just had a wee thought, I might tell Evangelidiot that they are changing the number of his beloved Channel 54 to Channel 666 and see how he reacts....LOL.

Beer was a part of the staple diet in Ancient Egypt since at least the time of the earliest Kings. I've actually had a taste of that beer made using the ancient Egyptian recipes, it is a taste that one needs to get used to, but, none-the-less, it is quite refreshing and nutritious as well.
Triphid replies on May 8, 2020:
, @Haemish1 WTF, Einstein "split the Beer atom?" You've got to be pulling my leg. The Effervesnce in "Draught" Beers is caused by 2 things, a( the carbon dioxide released during the frementation process, and, 2) the addition of pressuiised Carbon Dioxide gas as it tapped from the keg or bottle/can, etc, NOT by the " Einstein Process of Split the Beer Atom, since splitting an ATOM causes a Chain Reaction to occur as each atom sheds particles and those particles hit other atoms and so on and so forth,. That Sir, in simple terms IS how an Atomic Bomb explodes, i.e. a small charge is detonated to move 1 pice of Nuclear material into close contact with another piece of Nuclear material thus starting the Chain Reaction which the becomes Nuclear Fision.
