Similarly, to propagate itself, the Islam virus must infect human consciousness.
Triphid replies on Apr 20, 2020:
Any religious virus, be it Islam, Christianity, etc, etc, requires the invasion of a human host to replicate and multiply, it has done so since almost time immemorium simply because it seeks out those who have no resistence/immunity or a weakness ( temporary or permanent) to the religious virus just as does any other virus though, unlike thevirus that is religion, real viruses, when robbed of an abundance of hosts will die out or be forced to evolve thus becoming stronger imo.

I'll leave it up to your imagination as to what can be found in such bodies at times.

Oh, and FYI, the Infection/detection rate here in Australia has been well below the 1% level for over a week now, how is the rate in America going since, sadly, it has surpassed the rate of any other country in the world of late?

Sadly, it's more like HOW do you get the Cops to come on a call-out around here when I was told some 6+ months ago that , quote, " We only are permitted to have ONE Patrol car on the road during each shift because of the low crime rate in this area" - Inspector Smith, NSW Police, Broken Hill District. And yet one can, as I do by Bus go past the local Cop Shop every second Tuesday morning and see EVERY Cop car parked in a neat row in the street outside the Cop Shop, at least @ cops walking down the street to get their morning coffees, a round trip of 4 city blocks btw, past 3 other Coffee Outlets, from the local ' Yuppie' Coffee Hang-Out. Yet about 4 weeks ago when I rang the cops at about 9.30pm to report that 2 Indigenous women were having a real set-to Cat fight in the street in front of my house the response I get was " Can you detain them until we can get a car around there, we are very, very busy at the moment." Yeah, like I'm a 66 year old man who is going to step in to a cat-fight between 2 women who are literally tearing at each other, ripping out hair and tearing off clothing, etc, etc, and try to 'detain them' for the next hour or so, you've got to be kidding.

@Allamanda I tend to disagree with you on those points for the most part. Yes, we Atheists do have an adverse reaction to religion/s but with good and solidly founded reasons as well, but is it not these very 'reactions' that have made us, for majority part, better humans than our so-called religious bretheren? I for one find beauty, connection, etc, etc, in everything around me, I have a community and community support, I also give back to the 'community' much more than I recievefrom it knowing that what I do is a good, decent and proper thing to do. However, to me it seems, somewhat, that by your comment/s you are attempting to 'Tar everyone with the same brush' which is an impossible and totally wrong thing to do imho. Those who chose/elect to ignore/neglect the inherent/innate ethics and morals, etc, that they are born with are not only damaging themselves but are damaging society as a whole as well, are they not? But, when it is all broken down to it, those choices are theirs and theirs alone, not the choice and consencus of the soiety as a whole. If it were then it would be, simply and imho, yet another example of the Totalitarianism Ideology that runs like blood through the veins of most religious beliefs, i.e. "you are either with us or you are against us, there is NO middle ground."

The elements he ascribes to religions are already an innate and inherent part of us as humans right there from almost conception, we don't need seek them out via a religious belief system, we can, if we so desire, merely call upon them at will. When one looks deeply enough in to religions one does find that religions/religious prctises, etc, etc, are, more often than not, a breeding ground for the very elements of Snobbery, etc, that he speaks about. A prime example, imho, is the British Royal Family, they CLAIM that they have been chosen and anointed by God, pure and unadulterated Snobbery in my opinion since there never has, nor never will be a God/Gods.

Triphid replies on Apr 17, 2020:
I irrigate using water from the town supply and I'd reckon I've put in hundreds of hours turn the little top-soil we have, adding manure, kitchen vegetable scraps, wood shavings, etc, etc, to it. I use a potting mix in the potted plants though but aslo add a touch of manure every so often. I can dig down about 8-14 inches before reaching the rocky, clay type soil that is normally found around.

Love the lillies! But Joanna the Goana & Little Miss Spikey are the best!
Triphid replies on Apr 17, 2020:
If you like Joanna & and Spikey then hopefully you'll also like my other very good friend, Lady E, the Wedgetail Eagle. She was my first rescue when I found her as a very young fledgling almost starving and half dead trying to get a drink from my pond one very hot summers day over 8 years ago now. I took her in, fed her up, had a Vet check her over but he was pretty sure that she wouldn't recover, surpris, surprise for him. 2 weeks of hand-feeding her with raw minced kangaroo meat, hard boiled eggs and a mix of of mineral water and vitamins she'd gone from approx. 1.2 kilograms in weight to a nice hefty 3.7 kilos, could walk around the yard and was bwgining to flap her wings once again, 6 weeks later she weighed in at very nice 5.2 kilos, could flap enough to actually lift off of the ground and reach about 6-8 feet in the air and could feed herself from a bowl as well as tear chunk of meat from kangaroo bones. Now she is fully grown, has a wing span over over 6 feet, weighs in at aguess of around 13 kilos, comes back to my house for the occassional free snack, pat and stroking of her head and is living in the wild, as she should, but still lands on my outstretched, bare forearm without even leaving the slightest scratch. She has also presented me with her mate and their young every breeding season since I first released her back into the wild.
G'day everyone, I'm new to this site.

My gardens were always being ravage by snails until Joanna the Goana ( pictured on the left) visited quite a few years ago now and decided to stay, now Snails Nil and Joanna very well fed and contented though the snail main course is no longer on the menu these days but she does her bit now by raiding the nests of the inported Sparrows at nesting time and catching the adults as well when they roost for the evenings during summer. My latest 'newcomer' is Little Miss Spikey, a pygmy Echidna, saved last winter when I found her mother curled up in a hollow tree that I was about to cut up for firewood, brought her Mum home and rehoused her in my gardens as well until my kind, wonderful (???) Evangeloon neighbour complained to the Local Wildlife Service claiming I had her caged up. They took Mrs. Spikey away but neither they nor I realized that she had left her daughter hidden elsewhere in my yard. Little Misss Spikey now calls my yard her domain and has set about ridding my gardens of ants, thankfully, though she is also very partial to a snack, hand-fed to her of course, of either Mealworms or ant eggs mixed in with fresh, finely minced kangaroo meat.
G'day everyone, I'm new to this site.

Welcome aboard! My brother has similar complaints living in Arizona. He has a beautiful house but the yard is a challenge. But there ARE native plants that will grow readily. What grows wild where you live? Any succulents? Ornamental grasses? Cacti?
Triphid replies on Apr 17, 2020:
We get a few native ground cover plants around here but not many and they are ptotected by Law but one can harvest seeds from thembut mostly there are just native trees like Eucalypts, Mulga, She-oak and other varieties of Acacias, etc. This winter I plan to sow Sturt Desert Pea seeds that I've collected over the last year or so, they are very hardy and thrive with only the natural water from rainfall, filtrated water can kill them faster than you can say your alphabet almost. All my gardens and vegie beds are grown only on Chicken manure and either cow or sheep manure when I can it from a friend's Grazing Property.
G'day everyone, I'm new to this site.

As far as I know weare still on Level One Water Restrictions since the drought has not broken out here as yet. I cheat a bit with my pond, I have a float valve system in it that is attached to the faucet in the gardens so when the level drops it alowws water to flow in freely, plus, all bar my potted plants are under a drip irrigation system as well.

I tend to think that one of major differences between this Pandemic and the 1918 Flu Epidemic is mainly due to the rapidity and availability of modern fast International transport and transit by aircraft that can passengers number from 100 upwards in relatively short periods of time. Plus even land transportation has been improved since 1918 where it once took days or even weeks to go from side a to side b of a country, now it only takes perhaps 24 to 48 hours for example. All this has facilitated the abilitiy of an infective agents to spread out further and faster through even larger human populations. Another reason, in my opinion, was and is the complacency of the Medical Researchers, etc, that came along AFTER the SARS and MERS outbreaks where they SHOULD have continued to research even deeper into the genome, etc, of viruses and prepared a multivalent vaccine in advance as a ready, willing and waiting premptative measure.

@Petter Plus recent research done using an assumed remains of a Crucified victim showe clearly thatIF nails were used they were driven through the heels of the feet on separate sides of the wooden beam and between the Ulna and the Radius of the forearm close to the wrist bones and given the shortage of trees and wood in ancient Judaeah it would be more likely that a victim would be crucified on an Upper case X shape or simply hung up on the neaest solid wall, probably the wall surround the town, city or village. The Romans were NEVER a people to waste valuable resources such as metals and nails on executions nor were they ones to go along and merely shorten the suffering of the victim either. As for the burialof the remains, there was a Senatorial Decree issued by unanimous agreement in the very earliest years of the Roman Republic that states clearly, " Only the remains of crucified members of the Nobilitas ( Nobles) condemned to Crucifixion may be released after death to be buried by family members, ALL others MUST be left as they were executed until the carrion eaters have devoured the flesh or their remains have fallen to the ground, then and only then shall the remains be burned and the ashes scattered to the four winds."

Why do you always post statements/questions with absolutes in them, such as above "any", "should"? By these questions it would seem as you still define your view of life with absolutes. Perhaps a hold over in your thinking from when you were a believer. Maybe you still are a closet believer? One ...

Have you asked him that? I think that would be something interesting, the answer should be rubbish but should be great fun to listen to the gibberish. It would be interesting as well to point out the percentage of each that has perished due to this. I believe the percentage of religious people that ...

@Paddypereira You could be right, though ever so many, including myself, have tried in times past to get across to him that he is making a pest and nuisance, etc, of himself, why even his own family have expressed the same at the times when they have visited him but it just does not seem to sink in.

@Lightupmylife Well have not religions always sought to tell US what we should and should not do? But this time we are requested to abide such rulings as apply during this pandemic because it IS for both our own good and that of others as well, not just for the benefit and furthering of belief system.
Does no one have common sense anymore?

This may be funny, however the virus doesn't come from eating bats, undercooked or not.
Triphid replies on Apr 11, 2020:
What you mean like how it was once believed thar Malaria was caused by Bad Air, which btw, is where the name Malaria came from) but now we know it comes from the Anopheles mosquito and is a parasite that is passed through the saliva of the mosquito when it bites and sucks the blood from its victim? According numerous and well respected Researchers Corona, SARS and Mers rose up from the 'Wet Markets' in Chinawhere insectivorous bats love to hang out and catch their food, i.e. insects and insects are well known vector for the transmission of diseases, both bacterial and viral.

Not so dumb after all? Another species we practiced genocide on?
Triphid replies on Apr 10, 2020:
@Allamanda Yes, and if the Neanderthal had gone through the change from Hunter-Gathers to agriculture and large community living chances are they'd still be living around us today.
