What's your opinion on the burning of the Notre Dame?

Notre Dame is an icon. It is not owned by the Catholic Church but by the City of Paris. It means more than just a big church, that being said I don’t know if you can repair an 850 year old icon and have it be the same as it the same as it was or will it be a new copy of an 850 year old icon. I ...

Sorry to inform you BUT under Canon Law ALL properties the Church REMAIN Church Property and Assets UNTIL or UNLESS they are Deconsecrated and sold off to private or public concerns. Just as in a very small clause in Canon Law states, " All members of the Church/Congregation ARE and always shall be considered as being the PROPERTY of the Church." Ergo, Notre Dame is NOT the property of Paris or the French Peoples, it IS the sole property of the Catholic Church and the Vatican.

Triphid replies on Apr 21, 2019:
@Jolanta Oh yeah, the Lib-Nats always vote for Tax Cuts for their 'Big End of Town' mates and the average worker, etc, gets S.F.A. BECAUSE the system is set up that way, i.e. the HIGHER your Income = the greater percentage tax cut you get, where it SHOULD REALISTICLY be ther HIGHER the Income = the less of a percentage cut you receive and the lower the income the greater the percentage you receive. As for Labor under Bill Shortonballs, they are about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike, they couldn't find their way out of wet paper bag even with a road map and GPS system. Labor once, many, many moons ago that is, stood up for the Workers, Families and the Average Peoples but these days I think of them as being the Amateur Liberal Party. The Greens are just hopeful hangers-on who, going on a few of the past performance would, imho, sell their Grandmothers IF the price was right. It seems to me, and numerous others I've spoken with over the years, that EVERY time the Libs-Nats get into Federal Government or State Government their first and most immediate task is to re-draw the boundaries of the Voting Constituencies to suit themselves for future elections based on the numbers of favourable votes polled by Lib-Nat voters and then they simply pour in money for 'Infrastructure.' etc, to further ensure their voting status whilst anywhere further west/east/north/south ( depending upon which State you are in that is) of the 'coastal zone, i.e. 600-700kms west, etc, gets little more a few miserable crumbs, IF anything at all. The entire Westminster based 2 Party Electoral/Government System has an odour that can only be described as being reminiscent of a Dockyard Whorehouse at a very LOW tide.

@HippieChick58 Yeah, the Goat-herders Guide is truly a mélange of superstitions, innuendos, myths, legends, fire-side tales and stories designed to scare children, etc, etc, made up, completely, from plagiarized tales, etc, of other much older cultures, etc. For example, the biblical flood myth is direct from both the Epic of Gilgamesh and the once Annual Flooding of the Nile Valley in Egypt, and also most likely from ancient memories passed down from the end of the last big Ice Age when the waters of the Mediterranean Sea rose up and forced their way through what was once a narrow land mass and is now the Straits connecting it and the once fresh waters of the Black Sea.

@F-IM-Forty In actual FACT the Catholic Church sought and fought tooth and nail for centuries to suppress and repress sciences, knowledge, human sovial advancement, etc, etc. For example, Galileo was imprisoned for years for his observations and theories about the Solar System, etc, Newton was threatened with Excommunication by both the Catholic and Anglican Churches for his theory of Gravity at first, who knows, exactly, how many others were persecuted/executed simply because they figured that what religion was teaching was 100% incorrect. In truth, human advancement has ONLY occurred SINCE the vice-grips of religions have been prised open in the last 100+ years or so.

I like to think that I helped them to realise that they picked the wrong town and the wrong people to try and spread their bullshit in. We do have a Faithfool element in town, but Broken Hill has always a very secular based place and population, more churches have closed down around here than almost anywhere of a comparable size that I know of. In past years we have seen Catholicism go from having 1 cathedral and 4 schools with churches attached down to 1 cathedral and its attached Primary/Secondary, which are both struggling btw, and at least 5 other churches of various religious sects including Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist close down simply because people haven't been filling the pews, etc. And word around town has it that others are fighting a loosing battle as well, even the Morons, sorry Mormons are steadily shrinking as are the Jehos, the Sevos and the few Evangelical groups are " pushing shit uphill" these days. But I'll have a better idea after this morning about the ones from yesterday since I'm heading back into the CBD again to got to the local Temple of Atheism, Heathenism, etc, aka the Public Library.

It was Lady E, she must've arrived while we still inside, I told Henry to go to the fridge and get the container with the 'roo meat in it, then him, his parents and I went outside. Henry then spent the best part of an hour hand-feeding Lady E pieces of 'roo meat as well as being allowed to pat her head and getting to scratch her chest, something she used to allow me to do. Sadly, I'd let the batteries in my camera go flat BUT his Mum managed to get a few shots of Henry and his new-found friend which Henry plans to take to school to show the Teacher, etc, when school returns in 2 weeks time.

The hearts only job is to Pump blood around the body, it does NOT think for itself, it feels no pain nor emotions it IS just a bundle of muscle with 4 separate chambers, i.e. 2 Atria and 2 Ventricles, veins and arteries attached to it just like hoses, etc, from a water pump. What your doctor was telling in very basic, and in my opinion, and a somewhat demeaning terminology was that the electrical signals arriving at either the atria or the ventricles were not in synch as the should normal be, i.e. you were either experiencing bouts of Atrial or Ventricular Bradycardia or Tachycardia or possibly slight ectopic heart beats.
