I think I like Pantera's better. Avenged Sevenfold- Walk [youtu.be]
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 11, 2018:
Not bad, but I have to agree, I like Pantera's version better. The thing about covers to me is that doing it the same way the original was, I'm thinking, what's the point? But those who do covers and put their own Style into it making the song different and new. I do really like. Like for example, 'Disturbed' Sound of silence. They made that song their own, and did a great job of it too.
I did it! I made it! Thanks for helping me get to Level 8, everyone!!!

I always felt it was child abuse, even as a child.
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 10, 2018:
This is exactly how my father treated me. He was very abusive to me, not just physical, but mentally as well. Aside from that I was diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder, which means I hear and see things that are not really there, major depression, suicidal thoughts, and a few other things. And it gets worse the older I get. Now I hear voices telling me the same things that my father did. saying things like, you are broken, damaged, a waste of space, that I am a burden on every one I know, so I should just end it all. Thankfully, as Dr's. and therapists over the years have come to know much more about the disorder, and the medication has improved. Plus the therapy I get, And I use it very much, I've learned coping skills, and tools to combat the depression, and voices, halucinations etc. I'f it weren't for that I would probably be dead by now, but thankfully, I've been progressing a lot better. I actually love life, and being able to cope with that disorder better makes the loving life much easier.
If you could only pick one...
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 10, 2018:
With my mental disorder if I didn't have therapy, and actually use it I would probably be dead. As far as a red flag,.. I guess it would have to be fake boobs. To me that just screams of some one who is not comfortable being who they are. That kind of insecurity is kind of a big turn off for me. Just saying.

I’ll be visiting my mother in less than a month.
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 9, 2018:
I was brought up as a non-believer, so it's hard to know what you might be going through. That being said, I have quite a few friends that are believers that I have a great relationship with. I guess what I am trying to say is that if your mother really loves you, it's possible that she will still accept you even though you might have a difference towards God, and or religion. Although I've known some friends that have 'come out' as a non-believer, and they were met with distain and even shunned by friends and family. That is something I've dealt with with some so called friends that won't even talk to me because i am deemed as evil, and they do not want to have any thing to do with me. However 'coming out actuall made me more friends Theists or not. They judge me for the person that I have proven to be regardless of me beliefs. and those are the people that I not only favor, but respect as well. Sorry for the long winded aproach to your question, but I still have to stick to my guns and say. If your mother truelly loves you, I honestly think that she would embrace you as her son,With love and not some heathen. Either way I hope the best for you nand your mom.
That a HA moment.

I can remember that same feeling. When I was younger a few friends and I used to travel to Vermont to ski. Take the ride to the top, and just stay up there for a while and soak it all in. like you said there was no sounds other that the wind through the pine trees, and the freshness of the air. And the view was more that I have the words for. I've lived in Florida for a long while, so I don't get to ski, or climb high mountian trails any more. But there is still another sense of oneness with nature by going to the beach. Just feeling the nice breeze, and the sound of the waves is very calming.

Why Do So Many Incompetent Men Become Leaders?
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 9, 2018:
Incompetence knows no bounds of gender, or race. Ironically, it seems that those that are leaders are the ones that have figured out how to bullshit, and manipulate more than those who actually would be great leaders but are honest. I was fortunate that I was brought up in a household, and school where there was not real mention of god, or religion. I was taught at an early age the value of using the Scientific method for learning anything. For the most part that was apparent in the way my classes went from Math, to History, to Chemistry, and every thing in between. They didn't just give us a book, told to read a chapter, memorize it then take a test one it. That I believe is probably the worst way to teach someone. Instead, they would give us a topic, or a problem to solve, to do the experiments to get our own findings. then present them. Which to me was the best way I could think of to get children to learn, to actually go and test, or research for ourselves. Even if we were wrong in our findings, there was the experiencing of learning from ours or others. Even better, we learned to question everything, never assume. I don't know how or why most school systems don't do that any more, but it is very frustrating to see the decline in many people that can not even comprehend critical thinking. And with this being the so called 'information age'.I see it get mis-used way too much. With the ability to have virtually learn every thing there is to learn with a few clicks of a mouse. But instead, way too many would rather just post a picture af a cat that says something funny on facebook, and then wait for the 50 'likes' that follow. Even worse, a lot of times I will see people not having a sense of critical thinking will give the same weight to a paper written by someone with a Doctorate, as they would from some conspiracy theory nut job living in their moms basement. Sorry for the long rant, this topic just strikes a sore nerve with me.
Question on terminology.
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 9, 2018:
I honestly do not care what word is used at least for me. I usually just use the word Atheist because I've never been a believer my whole life, and back when I was a kid that was the word poeple used to call it, so I guess it just stuck with me out of habit. That is what I use for my lack of belief, and to be honest I really don't talk much about my dis-belief in a god, or gods. There really is no point as much as I can tell. I have some great friends that are believers, and we get along just fine. However, I do rather like the term, anti-theist. That is something I actually do talk a lot about actively. I despise religion and I have no problem bashing it with disdain and contempt.
What's the best coffee you've ever had and where did you have it?
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 9, 2018:
I'had countless different beans and different roasts in my time. Some were really great, some not so much. But as for the best I'v ever had, well I don't know what brand it was, but in Vermont every place we went to had the best, better than any where. I didn't know why for a long time, then some one I was talking to up there explained to me it was the water. There they use natural spring water and the minerals make the water taste soft and smooth. I would have never thought of that before.
Irresistible
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 9, 2018:
Yes I did. There was a woman that worked in the same office as me, April was her name. She was beyond drop dead hot. I kind of felt bad for her sometimes, because she got hit on by just about every male in the place.Except me. i was way ti insecure, and shy to actually ask some one out, especially her, all i could think of was that she was way out of my league. One day a mutual friend of ours told me that April had asked about me, and that we should go out to have some drinks some night and she would introduce us to one another. It took a while to get out of the shyness, for both of us. And at one point she had aked me why I never talked to her before, and I explained that I saw her getting hit on all the time, and that I never though that she would be interested in me. The real irony was that she thought the same about me. in that instant we bonded wonderfully. We both had some sort of mental issues that aslo made it real easy to relate to. That relationship went on for quite a long time.
MEN: What would your reason be for asking a woman what she does for a living, upon meeting her?
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 9, 2018:
I actually don't date any more, I kind of gave that up a while back. I did do a lot of dating when I was younger. I was very shy around people back then, in fact I don't think I ever asked any one out. It was usually a friend would set me up with someone they new, so They already knew what I was like, what I did for a living etc. If they didn't know I had no problem telling them. I just figured that if they didn't like me because of how much money I made, then I'm glad to know that right off the bat. But as far as how I felt about whet they did for a living, Honestly, I really couldn't care less. It's the person that I liked, not their job.

Collective Identity of Non-theists
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 7, 2018:
I suppose there is a community of non believers. From what I have seen in the last decade or so has shown me that along with becoming a non-theist has put most in the interest of math, evolutionary biologe, astro physics and such, and for that is something that I love to see. But it was different for me. I have always been a non-believer, I was not brought up in a religious houshold. And in my time back when, I was lucky enough that all of the sciences were taught with no religious intent. I learned a lot back then, and it got me into some great classes in colledge. I have been greatful that I was able to learn about evolutional biology, phisics, and advanced math. It wasn't till a few decades later that I started to hear about Atheism, flat earthers, the world is only 6 thousand years old and many things like that. I find it abismal that the education system is so frought with discrepency that simeple things are questioned by those that have no education, yet will post such nonsense, and even more, there are so many that will believe it just because they read it on the internet. For fuck's sake, there are some people that believe, that we didn't go to the moon, or that the earth is flat. WTF. I don't honestly chalk it up to stupidity, I rather posture that most are very misinformed. I'm not sure that I know a solution to that, but I do what I can to provide some real Science to those that do not know any better.

Why have people become so gullible to accept lies as facts?
TristanNuvo comments on Jul 5, 2018:
One of the things I hate about the information age, is that people don't for the most part use any critical thinking when trying to find out if something is true or not. Most usually go to some site that they like and look for what they want to hear. to the extent that A paper from a nobel winner, is on par with some either some conspiracy theory nut, or something like that gives just as much weight to one another. I was taught a long time ago that if I really want to know something, I should look up many different sources and deduce my findings from that which gives the most evidence. I've seen in many debates about god, or religion, creationism etc. the believers will pretty much go to 'Answers in Genesis', spout off a quote that some appologetics moron writes. Where as those that are more Science minded, will in fact look up many articles or papers to make their point.

That's why I like Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson. He rarely talks about religion at all, He is all about teaching people how wonderful it is to learn about the universe. Although, I do from time to time I do love to have a go at bashing religion. Sometimes it's just damn fun. lol.

But it rarely ever came up. The world that I lived in was more about Science, global envirement, polution, Scientific endevors and such. Over the years I've seen the decline of that way of thinking. I don't have the words to my dismay that I feel about that fact.
Discussion time.

I had it lucky. Back when I was in High School, the bus that I took had an 8 track to play music. Me and a few of my friends got them to play Black Sabbath master of reality. That was more than cool.

What would you do if some of your Facebook friends were constantly posting those corny Hallmark ...
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 28, 2018:
To be honest it doesn't bother me. All of my friends Theist, and non- Theists alike value each others belief, or non belief. Our friendship goes much farther that. so I never give them any bad comments, and they don't of me. In fact some of my friends that are believers have given me a nice comment saying that even they don't share the same belief as me, they give me a thumbs up for speaking my honest mind. I choose my friends wisely.
Complete the following sentence: I do not trust... (For me it's dentists.)

“We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity.

I agree with you on that very much. The only thing I would add though, is that often times people working together can have a positive effect too.
Just feeling silly today.

What's the worst gift you've ever had?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 27, 2018:
The best gift for me was havin'g a heart to heart with my mother when I was about 20'ish. I found out that the reason that she divorced my father was nbecause she could not stand how he treated me. My bio dad was a fucking abusive tyrant to me. most of my life I never had the feeling that someone had my back, or suportive of me, so I rebelled. But one day Me and my mother had a great heart to heart about what went down back then. And we've been very close ever since then. No bad gifts can trump that.
The Weird, Ever-Evolving Story of Your DNA - The Atlantic
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 27, 2018:
My bacground is mostly math and phyiccs, but I have been godsmacked be the advances that have been made of breaking down genes, and dna. One of the things I found interesting is that the head of the Genom Progect, Francis Sellers Collins. is actually a theist. the one thing I get from that is that Science supercieds biblical text. Theist or not, I am happy beond words that we have been able to unravel the building blocks of evolution, and the data keeps on going. so the creationists have continualy less, and lest to stand on.
Gotta love Ricky.

What statements do you get bored of hearing from theists and religious people?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 27, 2018:
Yes, America is a Christian Nation. It even says in god we trust on our money.
There is no such thing as a 'humble' opinion.
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 26, 2018:
A little while I commented on a post that I will speak my mind no matter whom it might offend. And I got some negativity from that comment. But to be honest, That comment meant to be a statement of fuck you I will be an ass no matter who I might piss off. And to get to my point, I'm not sure that this might be "humble" or not, but I always speak the truth as I might know or think. The humbling part of that I will gladly change my views if the right evidense shows me other wise. to that end, I whill gladly humble to what some one smarter than me might have a better understang than I do. I love to learn from those smarter than I am. I guess that that notion could be an act of humbleness.
Why can't a man have a friendship with a women like he does with another man?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 26, 2018:
My best friend of a little over a decade was inserprabe to me, and we of him. We had some diferent of opinion on some some subgests, be always we didn't have a problem with the differences of what might be. we valudude what we had in common rather than argeuing over some trivial bullshit. He died a few years ago and Couldn't find another that could fill his shoes. Iv'e made some rather great friends over the last few years, and I am greatful for those that I have met. but I still hasve judgedment on others that I meet because I still compair them to my old best friend. I know I need to let go and get on with my life,.. But its hard sometimes. real honestly and the bonding really is hard to fill those shoes.
I have a question for all you music lovers out there: Do you have a favorite song? If so, why?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 26, 2018:
My short list would still be way over than 100 songs. There is no way I could pick. Plus the ones I favor to listen to change along with my mood.

Have you found your "calling" in life?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 25, 2018:
I have my music. I've been doing it for decades now. I've been through a lot of different changes over the years. I played the cello when I was younger, then switched to metal on guitar, and many more. for the last 12 years or so I've had a passion for Spanish guitar. I've writen quite a lot, and with my home studio I built I've been able to record my stuff. I've posted most of my stuff on youtube. I hardly have any follers, but I don't care, I write, and record them for me. It's like therapy.
I listen to "The profane argument" podcast, and so far it's the only Atheistic podcast I've found.

What are the best and/or your favorite musicians of all time?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 25, 2018:
I posted earlier that Bach was my fovorite composer. But thinking about it I had to mention my favorite singer. I love a great many, but Lisa Gerrard stands out to me one of the best. She has a certian power, depth, warmth, range, and such that not many that I've heard coming close to. https://youtu.be/xfgl57vINmw
I bet I am not...
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 25, 2018:
Depending on the song. Sometimes there are tunes that mellow me out like metallicas Orion. Then again there songs like Panteras Wal that will wake me up better than a cup of coffee.
Let me Google that for you?

It is something that I have thought about for a very long time. With just a few simple clicks, any one has the most vast knowledge at their disposal. Yet Most people will use the great tool to lol a funny kitten on Facebook, rather than learn any thing.

TristanNuvo comments on Jun 25, 2018:
Honestly i've never thought about, I've never been on a dating site. I suppose that this place is sort of a dating site, but that's not why I joined. I joined to have a place where like minded people can share their views and not get trolled by a ton of religious nutbags all the time.
Today, I thought to myself: 'I'm sick to death of Donald Trump'.
