TristanNuvo comments on Jun 23, 2018:
Right here. I've had my run,ins on many blog sites, that never dittured me from sayiing what mimight think think. Honestly though most of them have given me some great praise for me stand up for what I believe. I feel privelighed To have them in my train of thought. I have known them long enough to establish a grat understang that even though we might have different opinion about god and such, we stand on the laurals of thet were all about helping others., I feel fortunate to have those Who truelly get that
So long Vinnie Paul Abbott... you had a great run....
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 23, 2018:
It always seem that the more I like a band there always seems to be some tragity with a member dieing. Lane Stanly, Dimebag, vinny, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, the list goes one and on. I think about this with some great sorrow. Yet I also thing sometimes that all of those guys were the same age as me. So I am in conflict with missing them, and that some how I am still alive.
Do we really have the right to believe whatever we want?

One of things I hate about America, is that those that will say"I stand up for you to believe in want". But under their breath, they are saying, well only if it is what I believe.

How do you deal with the death of a friend?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 23, 2018:
Over the years I've had many people that I knew die. Most of them died from cancer or some other ailment, so I was glad they passed away, they no longer had to suffer anymore. But when my best friend died. Well it was a hard pill to swallow. I still miss him, and sometimes I still have dreams that he is still alive. It's hard to know I'll never get to hang with him like we used to. But over time the sorrow has gone away. Not entirely, but I've been getting better with my loss after some time.
My sister is getting married in October in a catholic wedding(I know, Blah).
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 23, 2018:
Honestly, it doesn't bother me. I've been to many wedings, and funerals that took place in a church. The way I figure it is they don't give me shit about my non-beliefs, so I won't give them shit about their beliefs. In the end it's all about you being there for your sister. The venue shouldn't matter.
Why are you athiest?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 23, 2018:
I have been an Atheist my whole life. I was never indoctrinated into the silly notion that a god exists. I have to thank my parents for that.
What is your opinion about to get married?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 22, 2018:

TristanNuvo comments on Jun 21, 2018:
Any thing country and western. Then again, gospel music is something I despise well.
Did you grow up atheist or agnostic?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 21, 2018:
I was always a non-believer. The only times I went to church was for a wedding or a funeral. I think my parents might have believed in god, but were not a fan of religion. I never really spouted out about my non beliefs, and the religious never tried to force their crap on me. Granted, this was in the late 60's and 70;s so so there was no such thing as PC then. I never thought to have to speak ouy on my views back then. That went on for about 20 years. Then came the internet. I got turned on to quite a few out spoken Atheists who taught me about just how much religion is poison to people. So then I started to read many books from people like Dawkins, Dennet, Tyson, Harris, and many others. So I went on a rampage with my Science backround, and spent years debating religious nut bags. After a while I got to the point of not giving a shit what the religest had to say, so i made mi interests to back to education. but the stupid kept on going on, and on about their creationism and so I thought it was time to chime in. I did for a while get into debates with believersand hit them with stuff that they coulden't give a response with out name calling and some really dumb ass shit. I still do post some things about Atheism, but what I really think, and aspire to is Science, math, understanding what the universe really is. I am aware that we don't have all of the answers, and it is entirely possible that we might never get a grasp on every thing. there is. But I will always be a part of the people that testing things, observe things, questing things. Even if I am wrong about every thing I hold dear. I would rather go out in failer than believing something that makes no sense. So to answer your question. I Think I could be listed as both Atheist, and Agnostic. The point I have to explane myself. I am an Aatheist because I think that the notion of a god or gods is simply just silly. I will also go with Agnostic because I don't have the ability to disprove that some sort of devine being can't exists. sorry for the long winded comment, but the topick just struck a nerve and I just had to reply.

TristanNuvo comments on Jun 20, 2018:
Cool. Back in the later 90' till the early 2000's I had a room mate that he, and his twin brother were working as costumes, makeup, and model making. So needless to say we had some great costumes. we always went to the Halloween festival in Ybor city, which by the way rivals fat Tuesday. we always went in some theme together. one year we made costumes of all the caracters of Mortal Kombat. They got the spects for the costumes and built them exactly like the games, and movies. There were 7 of us, and we won like 5 best costume prizes. Those days are something I will never forget. So much fun.

What do you say to someone that insists that "God"
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 19, 2018:
There was a time when I would get into their face and argue my beliefs,or but non-beliefs as it may. but I've learned that a single post, or contradictions a debate won't do much to discourage them from their indoctranation, so I usually just back away. but sometimes I think that speaking out about my non-beliefs, and my vocal points might hit some one enough to possibly challenge their ways. To me, if I get one person to think, and critically think out side their box... Well I call a win.
Rob Zombie - American Witch [youtu.be]
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 19, 2018:
Zombie is another of my fave's. The album astro creep is one of those that I've played a gizillion times, just like did with Dirt, Vulgar display, aenima, and such. and still after all these years will go back and play them again and again. some music is so good, that they don't lesson over the ages.
Society seems obsessed with 'super-heros' but what about REAL heros?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 19, 2018:
Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and Richard Dawkins. Both very educated, and work to inspire people to use critical thinking. I remember a vid with the two of them talking about what they called "The poetry of Science". One of my favorite lines was, Neil saying, " I do not require you to believe in anything". I know I listed two, but to be honest I have somewhere around 10 people that have given me to insperation to go back to school to learn more about the Scientific method, and a more developed understanding of maths.

I made a group for us Halloween lovers.
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 18, 2018:
Halloween was always my favorite time of the year. My best friend and I would plan, desighn some great costumes and go from Halloween party to Halloween party, and where I live that's a pretty big thing. But when my friend died I've found it hard to do that again. But who knows maybe in time I might find it fun again, and get back into the spirit of things.

Very cool. I will have to admit that I have a rather brown finger. But my mother has the most green thumb there is. She's been in a few magazines about her gardining. I wish I had the same green thumb that my mother has, but alas I suck at it, but I do hold the utmost respect to the people that do.
What's the biggest physical turn-off when looking for a mate?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 18, 2018:
Over the years ago I had many girlfriends. Some were just about sex, some were because we had similar interests. but growing older I've come to realize that I don't have the need to have a romantic partner to enjoy life. I've learned that I respect the friends of mine for what they are. In my book good people are good people. It doesn't matter their political beliefs, religious beliefs etc. So to answer your question, I don't have a so called thing that I have as a "turn off". I alway tend to value those that are helpful to others, and are kind to animals, and are honest to me and themselves.

Have you lost any friends because of your religious non-belief?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 17, 2018:
I was never a believer so I didn't lose any one by "coming out". i do actually have some really great friends that are believers, had them for many years. I have however met many that had some real horror stories about things like losing their jobs, kicked out of the house, families disowning them and such just admitting that they didn't believe any more.

Interesting read on Gen Xer's.
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 12, 2018:
I was born in 64, so I am right on the cusp between Baby boomers, and Gen-xer's. It's been odd groing up, and still even through adulthood. I remember rotery dialed telephones, pay phones that cost a dime, leaded gasoline, and such. And yet I was still young enough to grow with the new, for example, I got to listen to some great music through the 80's, and yet I was old enough to know that most of the hits in the 80's were in fact covers of tunes. I could go on, and about how things have changed, and how tec has grown through the years but that could take weeks. One thing though, most of the I know that I know that my same age are stuck in the 70's or 80's music wise, but I've never been able to live like that. I have always been one of those that looked for something new music wise all the time, I always love to be turned on to new stuff. I hope that never goes away.
I'm watching The Princess Bride on tv right now.

70s Black Sabbath is amazing! At least according to this old metalhead. :) [youtube.com]
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 10, 2018:
As a pre teen in the early 70's I was always turned on to from older siblings and cousins and such that played Beatles, the doors and such which I did like. But one day at an arcade. yes I am showing my age knowing what an arcade was, quarters and all. on the speakers they were playing some Black Sabboth. I had never heard any thing like it before. I learned to play the guitar before then, and the first thing I did was trying who was that band. It took me a while, but I final found out who it was, and after I found out, I spent about every time I could to learning how to play Tony Iomni's every riff. before that I was a cello player in the school orcrasta. but when I heard bsabbat5h, my whole life , and my taste for music was changed for ever.
I hope this is okay to post.

Announcement! Musicians have a new group.
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I just saw this group and thought I love to be a member. I am a musician, and I have a bunch of stuff mostly classical, and Spanish guitar on youtube that I'll post here every now and then. some might like it, some won't but what ever, I had a lot of fun writing and recording them. I built my own digital studio out of a couple of PC's and a good mic, and some really good software. I love to write and record, it's like therapy for me.
Hello. I wonder how many people here are musicians?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I'm a musician too. I've been playing since I was a kid, cello, spanish guitar, classical guiter even metal because it's a lot of fun. I can read music, but I almost never do. At an early age i realized that I had a good knack for playing by ear and it stuck with me over the years. I have a bunch of stuff on youtube, and I'll be posting some here and there if you are interested.
Is it possible to detach religious art from its original theistic context and appreciate it entirely...
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
Sure most of what religion in my book has done more harm that anything I can think of. But to be honest, in their belief some have created some of the best art, the most beautiful music, and some amazing artcitecture. Don't forget that Sir Issac Newton was a devout christian, yet he developed the laws of gravity, better yet he invented calculas to do it. Micheal Faraday was also a devout christian, and his discoveries about electricity and magnatism, are the beginings of the electric world we live in today. The list goes on and on.
Any other artists or musicians here? Sharing creativity is a good way to make friend.

For those brought up In religious households, do you remember at what point your world changed?
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I was fortunate that I wasn't raised with any religion. In fact the only times we went to church were for weddings and funerals. Over the years I've come to find and made friends with people that are non-believers, but were once raised in families that were very religious. I've heard some heart breaking stories of how they were treated by their own families and so called friends who did things like kicking them out of the house, to banning them to have any contact with them. I just wanted to comment on your post because I very much look up to those who had the guts to come out as a non-believer no matter what others might say. Cheers to all of you.
Dating after 50
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I feel the same. I'm 53, but I still look like I'm in my 30's, and I get a lot from people, "you should find a nice woman and settle down", and such like that. They just don't seem to understand that I have no intention of settling down, I love life, and I don't need a romantic partner to enjoy life. I enjoy my self, and my friends. All that dating stuff was stuff I did back in the day. I simply have no use for it any more.

TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I've had some negative comments on my posts on FB and othere places about my stand on how toxic religion really is, and how silly beliefs are.But not from my family or friends, they all know how I stand and have come to respect my thoughts. I see many posts about Jesus, God, Allah etc. and people give "likes" and such all the time, so I feel that I have the right to post my thoughts about not believing as much as the religious do. The people that really know me don't give me shit about it. In fact manoy of them give me "likes" non my posts for me taking a stand.
The Atheist movement has changed since the days of Christopher Hitchens (hallowed be his name).
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
Yes I do agree that Hitch had his faults, but I did, and still do admire his speaking out against religion. Sorry that he died, he was an insperation to the Atheist movement. I was never a believer in god or gods, but it was people like Hitch, Dawkins and other Atheists that showed the true nature of just how toxic religion really is. For me though, it's not a matter of just not believing in a god. I like those who promote Science and math, engeneering, biology, etc. rather than religion, Like Richard Dawkins, Neil DeGrass Tyson, Lawence Krauss and such. Thanks to places like Youtube, Their words spread far and wide to people that didn't know any better than what their preacer told them. Hitch was one of those that paved the way for others to be out spoken about religion, and I will always thank him for that.
Due to the recent celebrity suicides, mental health is being discussed a lot.
TristanNuvo comments on Jun 9, 2018:
This is something I can really relate to. I was diagnosed with schitzo-affective dissorder years ago.It is essentially I see and hear things that are not there. I have major bouts of depression, suicidal thoughts, lack of sleep, etc. At the time I couldn't afford any kind of health care. But after a while with some help I did end up getting dissability, which also gave me medicare, and medicaid so I've since then been able to get therapy, and medication. I really feel for those that don't have that kind of help. I was there too , and it sucks. I honestly believe that every one should get the kind of health care that they need.
