I was raised in a Protestant family by a single mother. I grew up in the Bible Belt where nearly everyone I knew was religious. Started questioning the stories in the Bible when I was a young teenager. Up until this year I identified as agnostic, now I identify as atheist. Used to be very anti-theist some years ago, but now I don't bother unless religion interferes with others or myself. I don't feel the need to explain my non-belief to anyone unless it's a conversation of understanding rather than blatant statements and arguing over ideas. Nothing is learned from the latter. I do believe in one thing that could be derived from the Bible, although I'm sure it's origin is from elsewhere. The "golden rule" of doing unto others as I would have others do unto me. It is an elegant rule that everyone can agree on or at least respect. Enough philosophy for now.
