I identify as Libertarian. Why? its the box that I best fit into. At the same time, I am sure some point I will disagree with someone else. Because no 2 people think alike. I use history, logic and reason for my political assertions. The far right has no time for such heresy, nor does the far left. They both run on emotion. They both(if ever had) abandoned the critical thinking process.
Am I the only one? Who thinks politcal views should come under the same evidence and logic ...

This is one of the things that bothers me about this site. We can have intelligent conversation about religion, but not politics. For some reason minds seem to close and logic/facts blow away in the wind. My observation is there is a great multitude who do not practice what they preach.
Why do you think the religious right are so intent on forcing their agendas on others???
Veteran229 comments on Oct 8, 2018:
The religious right is no different than the fanatical left. They are both idealogical at root. Neither can understand why someone does not think the way they do. Neither thinks, they run on feelings and emotion. They use different means, but they both MUST change your mind and behavior.

Many errors here. A Republic was created to protect from a pure Democracy. And the Constitution was written to give the government specific and limited ability. As well as the amendment process. The Amendment process for the people( congress) and the States, to do what needs done without the executive and judicial branch. The states lost their right to control part of the federal government with the 17th amendment. State legislatures used to vote their own representative. Now they are by popular election. "The confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh by the US Senate by the slimmest of margins over the strong objections of half of the American people has just demonstrated the last vestiges of US government has abandoned that fundamental founding principle."--- Wrong, a Republic is a representative government for the specific purpose of keeping the mob rule of pure Democracy away. Supreme court appointment as well as Trumps election are the way the system has been all along. Amazingly when people do not get their way, now all of sudden the system has failed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seventeenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

My Mother once asked my if I believed creationism was possible. I told her yes, but not the imaginary one she believes. I explained to her, aliens creating the human race is more plausible than the God story. She was shocked and laughed, replying that aliens would be silly. So I had to explain to her that the human race has developed primitive space travel. We have developed a moderate understanding of genetics and manipulation. So if some species out there had better technology than we have, they could do it. Why? because if we had the tech, we would probably do it. the phone went silent, she had no reply.

What made it hard to have faith in a god?
Veteran229 comments on Oct 7, 2018:
When i was younger, kid got drunk and died in the accident. The sermon the next day was how alcohol was evil. This is a direct condradiction of the scripture stating the love of anything above God was sin. The loving of something denotes habitual behavior, not a one time thing. I knew the kid, his name was Chad. He was not a drinker, he just enjoyed a little too much. This is my example of man's blatant manipulation of their own faith. which invalidates it, if it can be manipulated.

Remind her the Bible teaches a woman cannot seek divorce. Remind her if she does not do this she will burn in Hell for it.

I have done a fair share of distro hopping. I usually stick with the simplicity of XFCE, for a DE. So that narrows my options when I go hopping.
