Glad you had the courage to go for some CBT treatment. We all can use some help and guidance sometimes and I had some CBT therapy 20 years ago to improve my own ways of thinking and view of life. I had been a people pleaser and was always trying to solve other people's problems to be helpful and keep everyone happy. It left me exhausted and unhappy though! So I learned to look after my own needs first to stay strong mentally and physically, and let others look after their own feelings and let them work through their own troubles most of the time. If I want I can help if they ASK for my help, but I do not intrude on their right to deal with their own lives. This community can at times be like a group self-help therapy session! Good luck. :)

Do you like your buns toasted?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Yeah, sometimes when camping on a cold night it's good to turn my backside towards the campfire. :) I prefer tangy Miracle Whip over mayonnaise any day, but more often on toast I use butter and my homemade raspbery freezer jam.
Do you believe all children are naturally born Atheist?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
No. That's a popular fallacy that makes as much sense as saying maple trees and frogs are Atheists too because they lack a belief in gods. Common sense tells you that to come to the decsion to be an Atheist it takes some thinking and maybe some research about some advanced mental concepts that a newborn (and a maple tree) do not have. To say babies are Atheists is a great diservice to the intellectual process needed.
Bad parenting: Paying for all your grown kids needs and wants.
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
It's not a simple question and there is no black and white answer that is best for everyone. It depends on the individuals, the degree and type of diaablilty, the ability oif the parents to provide things, and much more. Sometimes yes, the parents may be doing too much which might hold the mentally challenged person from trying harder. And sometimes they coud be doing the right thing, but to YOU it looks like they are doing too much from YOUR perspective. But would there be a reason why YOUR opinion would be better than the actual parents of the mentally challenged person who have known them all their lives/ Maybe they know things you don't?
DNA testing? For or against...
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
I have no need to know if my ancestors were Portugese pirates or Chinese Emperors or good for nothings. It might be useful for testing a fetus or young people as an indicator of possible future illness, but for mid life people most of the damage has already been done to change course so late. Maybe women should have it done on their husbands in case future paternity info might help resolve who was the real father of his secretary's unexpected baby. :)

WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
I'm pretty sure the Bible God is totallly against your idea of "what's sauce for the gander is sauce for the goose." Yahweh is rather misogynistic having been created in the imaginations of self-serving half educated Bronze Age men. Modern ideas about monogamous marriage really were not as common as people think until just about 400 years ago, and marriage was more for practical business or social reasons with sex and love happening outside of marriage quite often. Personally I have no objection to women having more than one husband or lovers, but until the willpower appears in society to change the Laws, marriage will remain between just two people in most areas of the world. It's taken millennia to just allow the common sense of same sex marriage, so adding more options will take time too. Start your pettition!
Opinions about Myers-Briggs Type Indicator?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
From what I have read it has a lot of critics for accurate results for people on average, but it may by coincidence work well for some people. Much like a newspaper horoscope might seem to have nailed it for 10 people and be useless for 100. People do not have specific barriers and their personality characteristics are on a wide spectrum. For each section the results might be close but they throw you to one side or the other. I just did it and it said I am an INFJ-A so maybe we think alike. Or again it was just coincidence! :)

Wicca is nothing like Agnosticism or Atheism. It is a religion usually havng beliefs in a Moon Goddess or Horned God, and various magic ideas, with rituals and beliefs that vary a great deal. Many modern poeple follow some of the parts they like, and ignore the parts they don't to have it be like personal entertainment to satisfy their emotional and psychological needs just like the major relgions are designed to do.

WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
I pick wisdom over knowledge! I value wisdom and knowledge, but knowledge on its own is not reliable for making important decisions in my Life. Prayer does help those so inclined by releasing feel good brain chemicals like dopamine and serotonin that may calm their mind to ponder more clearly, just like meditation does. Naturally it also depends on the situation too, and knowledge of whether a gun is loaded or not is better than praying it isn't! And having the wisdom to buy your partner a birthday present is better than the knowledge of what day it is!

Reasonable but wrong? Need examples! I am trying to find good examples of things that seem ...
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Main example is that we think it is reasonable to follow along with the customs and religious beliefs in our loving well meaning religious families, and may not find out how wrong that can be until years later! It is reasonable trusting in the system to get on a plane and think the pilot is not drunk or high on drugs, but we can be wrong and planes do go down sometimes due to pilot error. It is reasonable to assume your partner of 20 years will still be faithful next week, but people are wrong often and we see the divorce rate is rather scary. :) Life is not fair, it just is, no matter how reasonable we try to be.

Cats or Dogs
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
I like both, but mostly I have had Siamese cats over the years because they are so loving and smart and more indpendent and less care than dogs. Some would actually sleep under the covers with their head on the pillow. Also cats can survive a day or two alone if you leave supplies out, and do just fine. But dogs worry and go bananas and eat the sofa. I love the larger dogs though, mostly Golden retrievers, Dobermans and German Shepherds. Small yappy dogs seem too hyper and high maintenance for my quiet nature.
Misrepresentation?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
With 5 years already invested in the marriage, it's worth talking over with the person to understand better and perhaps uncover other issues that caused the change. People do evolve and change their views over the years, so compromise and adapting are a normal part of married life. Sometimes sex life needs changes and new ideas and finding what is mutually pleasurable. If it can't be worked out betwen you, seekng professional help is worth a try too. If you are a cheater type to just get it from someone else, you should not be married in the first place.
Is sports useful?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Ordinary sports are useful and can be fun, and they provide exercise and entertainment, and for teaching ideas about teamwork and reaching goals. Professional sports are more like businesses and they are too focused on money and fame and producing exciting shows to get more viewers, and less on real sportsmanship and good clean fun.

I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict. I am active for years in a 12 step program and have found a work...
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
There is no need to "work around" a belief a higher power in the !2 Step program. It may have started out with a Chirstian God as the higher power 80 years ago, but nowadays the program is open to however people choose to interpret that higher power to be. Most often it is seen by unbelievers as their own higher self that is in control and able to guide and support the person to encourage them to stay determined and be forgiving for slips even. I had done some volunteering with professional therapists for people with addictions (mostly drugs) , and a few people chose a 12 step program with the GOD idea because they came from strong religious backgrounds, but the therapists perferred people to build up their own inner strength without using a magic god idea as a crutch. So it looks like you did the right thing and managed to get along with others in the group who used a different higher power idea. You say you have stuck to it for years so that is great and shows you have puts serious effort into keeping your life better. Well done! Hope you find some 12 step Atheist friends here. The principle works about the same for all addicton types like drugs, gambling, sex, and alcohol. Good luck!
ANYONE OUT THERE WHO MEDITATES - Can you relate to this experience?...I'm honestly not sure what ...
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
It's not woo woo magic, but normal hidden brain chemistry at work in your subconscious mind. It seemed real because it WAS a real mental spiritual experience mostly created because you wanted and expected something to happen. Our subconscious mind can manifest what we wish to experience sometimes. This is well known and documented in Neuroscience for how brain chemistry can manifest such experiences. It can happen in religious settings too, where repettitous rituals and singing and and a monotonous sermon lulls the subconscious brain into a somewhat hypnotic state to allow visions or spiritual experiences of feeling the holy presence of Allah or Jesus or Krishna etc. I have had three such amazing experiences in my long life, but was unaware of what caused the first two at the time. Sometimes during these meditative experiences people may feel they are given special insight, or have an epihany of special knowledge, but often later when they relate what it was it is not that special or unusual. Again just an effect of brain chemistry and maybe because of excitement the release of feel good brain chemicals like serotonins and dopamine. Having done it once will make it easier to maybe have a similar experience again and you could even work towards doing it entirely on your own with practice.
For all my health conscious folks do you prefer to juice or blend your fruits and vegetables? Why do...
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
As soon as you process any raw food you increase the rate of its decomposition, so you should use it right away. Better not to juice because you lose important fiber. Blending is not necessary and we have teeth and a disgestive system specifcally designed to function best by chewing foods slowly to prepare them for the chemical factory in the stomach. No harm for having some juiced or blended foood in moderation for convenience or taking for a later snack in your workday of course.
are you afraid of death?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
As an older person I have had encounters with many relatives dying, and also in my past work in health care looking after seniors with serious illnesses, death was not a stranger to me. I have had a fulfilling Life, and I feel thankful and blessed actually. So death does not scare me much at all. I still enjoy life very much, so I strive to keep going and make the most of each day. But I know that when I die I will be in the same state I was in before I was conceived - a state of nonexistence. I don't think non-existence could be that troubling!
Is assisted suicide proper for terminally ill people
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Proper is an odd word. Assisted suicide is humane and compassionate and makes sense for some people in some situations. It has been legal nationwide here in Canada for almost 2 years and it is not taken lightly and has given relief to many who suffered pain, or other serious issues, and had no quality of life. Many mosdern progressive countries are having it legalized. I am surpised that Emperor Trump does not make it compulsory to save medical expenses. Whatever mental condition Trump has its obviously terminal and it is causing much suffering too, so perhaps he qualifies. Shall we start a petiition to end the suiffering?

WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
So if you are correct, how do you account for the example of the Bible God, who could not be harmed in any way, to lash out against Dirtman and Ribwoman for their first offense of eating one fruit? Did he not condemn them to spiritual death, and also make their decendants suffer for thousands of years thereafter? Was that not going a tad overboard? Did the Bible God not practice what He preached? lol

What are your thoughts on existentialism?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
We all have a pre-determined purpose, the same as every other species on Earth, that being to survive and to thrive. That is wired into us genetically and pscyhologically. The thriving part is highly comnplex for humans because we and the world we live in is so complicated. We make our own meaning by doing things that make us feel good and give us fulfilllment. Some thrive by being doctors or teachers, and some by being poets or rock stars or firemen. Some thrive by being stay at home Moms, and some by being skilled thieves or corrupt politicians. I think "essence" is an artifical pretend idea to descirbe one's natural physical and mental processes. We have to exist before we can develop any physical or mental processes.
Tract on Agnosticism
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
My opinion would be that Agnosticism is not based any logical proofs, but is simply a philsophical view for no belief in gods from the position of seeing gods as unknowable. Thus it can not be proven "right', since being right is not what Agnosticism is about anyway. Same for Atheism really because it is only based on belief, not proof. Neither Atheism, nor Agnosticism has anything to do with proving gods can not exist, and that would be impossible to prove anyway. But you could make an excellent case against the laughable Abrahanic type Gods all created in man's image with weak human needs and weak emotions. But you could not logically disprove an unknown and unknowable general type God concept simlar to what Modern Deists have. You do not need any proof to be an Agnostic. Just your own personal reasons that make sense to you personally. peace
Would it be beneficial to separate out the philosophies of religions from the supernatural aspects?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
That's not hard to do. Let's live our lives by love, truth, and peace, and scrap all religions. The money that goes to feed greedy religions, selling their dreams of a magic afterlife for cash, can then pay for free quality universal health care for all. That is actually what has already happened in many Scnadinavian countries. Most modern progressive countries have basic free health care for everyone anyway though. No excuses King Trump!

WalterWhite comments on Apr 8, 2018:
No, but many dogs have been known to run off with soles. The "energy that is within us" is only the energy that is within us, much like that in a watermelon or frog. There is however the real human spirit, as that part of our mind where we use our wisdom and love to contemplate those we love and interact with. And our higher thoughts for things like compassion, zest for lfie, meaning and our place in the Universe. That is not woo woo stuff, just real Neuroscience and Human Psychology.

There are some insecure or damaged people out there who like to play mind games perhaps, or maybe just get a kick out of the fantasy that a desirable interesting person is interested in what they say they are. I'd advise lots of conversation and questions to catch such people in their web of lies before getting to the point of actually dating. I think most people are sincere and honest though, so I wish you well in finding some friends, if not a close friend who becomes a life partner.
Are you racist?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 7, 2018:
I used to be a rascist in my early childhood because my grandparents were bigots against black people and I didn't know any better. Now I know we are all of ONE race, that of Homo sapiens, and all human beings, no matter what shape, color, or continent, are all 99.9% genetically identical. It is not that I do not see color or other ethnic characteristics, but that I make a great effort to see them as a person first, and then the little details get addded later. I live in Canada which helps because of our open attitude towards immigrants for a long time now. That is reflected in the mix of people on the streets especially in urban areas. We still have some racism of course, but things are steadily slowly improving.
Do you dislike all religions equally?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 7, 2018:
The Theistic religions are more or less all equally bad, with not much to offer other than the comfort of coming together in worship and do the repetitive rituals which most humans are drawn to doing. History shows these kinds of religions have done more harm than good, and they cause division in families, communities, nations, and between cultures. But some religions do not have threatening magic invisible gods, and some are more like a Philosophy of Life to set out basic tolerant moral ideas and sensible ways to live a kind and loving Life. Some of the basics of Buddhism come to mind for that. Some people find it easier to join such a group instead of having to start at square one to research what the religion says and maybe have incorrect interpretations. But people in modern educated and progressive countries have no need of religions to know how to live a decent moral and productive Life.

Paranormal Experiences?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 6, 2018:
When you admit you do not know the source, and you have no verifiable evidence to go on, then the only logical conclusion you can arrive at is the answer, "I do not know." Not knowing the cause of something, and having no explanation is no reason at all to leap to speculations that therefore Thor did it,or aliens did it. Things that get tossed across a room was the only odd thing you mentioned, and the others most always have normal explanations. Was it something heavy that got tossed and were room conditions just normal at the time? The most common reason for something being thrown across a room is forgeting your wife's birthday! Human Psychology does often push us to use our imaginations to fabricate possible dangerous possibilities though. That is perfectlty normal and comes from our older lizard part of the brain from our caveman days when a noise in the night or something moving might be a sabertooth tiger! So we play it cautious and get fearful just in case we have to make a run for it. Parallel Universe ideas are not supernatural, but normal Physics.

How comfortable are you with the word "Atheist" ?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I dislike labels for people, and see them more useful for things like grocery store items. I am an Apatheist, rather than an Atheist, but I try not to mention it in conversations because then it often obligates me explain the nuances and varieties of approaches to ideas about the God concept that could take 10 or 20 minutes. I am more comfortable with something more simple and self-explanatory like Truth seeker, or even realist, which leaves out gods, ghosts, and Santa Claus all at the same time. I can also be honest and just say I am an ordinary imperfect man with no need for labels. From the point of view of a Theist, even other Theists in other religions are Atheists because obviously those misguided souls are not believing in the "right" god! :)
Is atheism linked to depression/anxiety?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 6, 2018:
No, Atheism is only linked to lacking a belief in gods and nothing else. But the people who may be Atheists may have a more realistic honest view of the world if they have the mindset of looking for good evidence for the reality of things. Religious people on average tend to be wishers and dreamers and are able shut out unpleasant realities and thus in their delusion they have less reason to be depreessed! Relgious people live slightly longer on average actually the studies show. And the reality is that most modern non believers are a mutant genetic variation that differs from the mainstream of populations from a few centuries ago. So yes, mutants are real and non-believers may be gentically evolving to be X - men!!! Just kidding... I think Here is some background data on it: http://www.newsweek.com/religion-healthy-atheism-mutant-genes-756984

Prostitution, how do you feel about it?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Prostituion is not about love or having a date. Being briefly sexually satisfied is not the same as happiness. It's a sex business. It would not be as fulfilling as having a close genuine relationship, but some people do seek that, so it may help them. Prostitution has served a need in society for thousands of years and it is not going away. I wish it was legal and accepted everywhere, and was set up in decent business fashion where the workers have better living comnditions, have set limitations, and better protection from those that wish them harm. Also some modern public sex robot services are now being set up in some countries. So far only for male clients to have quick sex through the day that is free of disease risks and ecnomical. Possibly Mother Nature goofed when she gave men so much testosterone to drive them to do such things. Now with home virtual sex machines becoming available, you can stuimulate, and be stimulated by, someone in another part of the world even. Not my cup of tea. Once we are all wired from birth into the Matrix, I guess we will no longer be able to tell what is real from what is not. Neo? Is that you Neo?
What keeps you continuing on when there isn't any particular internal drive to do so?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 5, 2018:
The reason for you to continue existing is you are not dead yet, and you can add meaning to your life by moving outside your comfort zone to think about and explore real ways you could take small steps to add some interest and value to your days. You do not need any special skills to help others in small ways. Many volunteer options are there to just read to children or adults, talk with the elderly, write a thankful letter to a family member or friends who had a good influence in your life, helping a charitable organization an hour or two a week, and many more. Whatever your age you can still learn too, so learning an easy new skill is a possibility. Only you know the kinds of activities and klnds of people who made your heart sing sometimes through your life. You can have some of that again is you take a few baby steps. :)

So there was no great destruction after all, and those who panicked and died missed the sales at Walmart the next week.

I see no prob with an Atheist saying, "Why in God's name are you wearing those dirty old jeans to school?" or when you hit your finger with a hammer, should you say "golly" or Jesus Christ! :)

How to respond to a proselytizing sibling?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Just because she is a family member does not mean everything she wants to do must meet your approval, or needs your brotherly advice. The same as all the things YOU do, do not need her approval or advice, correct? Family memebers will do unproductive things sometimes. Lack of results and a negative experience may discourage her eventually, and it is better for her to learn that on her own to have it sink in better. So no need to interfere and let her do her misguided thing. :)

Does someone have to be college educated to be intelligent?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Education is not directly related to intelligence. Many stupid people manage to get a degree. And many uneducated peopel in an African jungle have better intelliogence to know how to survive there on their own, than any man only carrying his PhD degree in his hand to depend on. :)
Religion vs God
WalterWhite comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Them having misguided beiefs and bad comprehension problems does not get me upset much. I am old enough to not let people get me upset, or push my buttons, with mere words. I choose my own feelings, and giving power to others to make me sad or angry or upset with words is something I grew out of back in my early 20's.

I suggest New York woud be a good place for you aliens to start out, because there no matter what you look like on the streets, you will fit right in. Earth has many challenges for you and us too. You may find it a challenge to find clean water, clean air, uncontaminated food products, a decent leader for a nation, and a seat on the subway.

Evangelical Pastor Claims Traditional Gender Roles Can Prevent Sexual Abuse | HuffPost
WalterWhite comments on Apr 4, 2018:
He's a biased dreamer for sure! The stats say a lot of sexual abuse happens to girls and some boys by ordibnary straight members of their own families and near relatives. The long "tradition" of sexual abuse of men, women, and children by clergy of the Roman Catholic Church has been going on for many many centuries, so many THAT is what this Pastor should focus on, yes?

Life has blessed me and I count my blessings for the many caring helpful people I have met, as well as those who came into my life who I was able to love and help too. WalterWhite comments on Apr 3, 2018:
Here in Canada, doctor assited suicide is legal nationwide under regulated circumstances. It is not done lightly. In fact many modern progressive countrieas now have such laws having been pressured by their citizens to have more humane options available. Mostly it is for the elderly with illness and no quality of life, like those in pain and suffering from terminal illnesses. but age is not a strict requirment. People just wanting to commit suicide for other reasons, like being very depressed from bad life conditions,or family abuse and troubles, or addictions, do not qualify because depression and social issues can be solved and dealt with most often with medication and good psychological counselling. Not always of course.
Are we a superior design?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 3, 2018:
That is false. Humans didn't evolve from monkeys. Sometimes you hear relgious people saying that though. Monkeys are on a different branch of the tree of Evolution from us. We evolved from apes and are in the group called great apes. Monkeys have tails, and apes like goirillas, chimps and hominids like us humans do not have tails. We know fingers first evolved in fish species, and a whale skeleton has fingers in its fins with joints much like humans. Whales were land creatures that evolved to livei n water. Today we are observing some fish species evolving to live on land too. Always changing! Feet and hands ARE the equivalent of paws. The special thumb we have evolved from us climbing trees. Humans made no choices for how they evolved, and that was all up to Mother Nature and Chemistry, and the local environment. We have traced this through Genertics back to the first human tribes in whcih originated in north east Africa. Men's height, as well as life span, has changed due to much improved nutrition and living conditons over the last 200 years, and women had nothing to do with it. :) Women have gained some height too actually from long ago for the same reasons. Nature makes the female smaller in most hominid species and it really has nothing to do with who men pick. It is much the same in other mammal species. Lots of books on this in any major Library if you want ot explore it all in better detail.
What's on the other side people talk about?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 3, 2018:
The abundant evidence tells us exactly what happens at death for all living things, and the same death process happens for humans as it does for rats and maple trees and frogs. It's called the cycle of life and we get recycled back into the system. When vital parts of an organision stop functioning, then soon the death process begins. For humans it often takes 3 to 8 mintues to fully be dead depending on circumstances. They often call "clinical death' when you are not fully dead. When the brain chemistry stops working no electrical energy is avalable for creating the conscious self. Much like turning off a light swith when no energy gets delivered. It will be a state identical to what you had 1 year before you were conceived - total non-existence. I have no idea what a "next level of existence is." Reminds me of computer games where you graduate from level to level advancing your skill level! LIFE is not a computer game. There is zero proof to support any kind of things like "eternal souls" or a magic afterlife. or getting reincarnated into a chicken, an elephant or a butterfly. But if you find such dreams comforting and entertaining, you are free to have them!

WalterWhite comments on Apr 3, 2018:
Science is honest enough to say it can not prove anything to 100%, and it allows for possible future data and future methods of discovery. It is impossible for humans to know 100% that no gods can exist, due to us living in a Metaphysical Universe with limitations in our intelligence and abilties to peceive the world around us. However, some Atheists go so far as to say there are no Gods. Why they do that makes no sense to me because then they bear the burden of proof. It's best to stick with the basic Atheism defintion for lacking a beief in gods whcih carries no burden of proof, and leave the burden of proof where it belongs with the Theists fro their claims. A good case could be made against the existence of the laughable Abrahamic type gods, all made in man's image with weak human needs and emotions. But it woud be impossible to prove the negative existence of an unknown and unknowable type god, or force, or state of existence beyond our abilities to perceive it.
Friends trying to "save" me!!
WalterWhite comments on Apr 3, 2018:
Their addiciton to their comforting beliefs drive Theists to do this. Like other addicts then try ot infect you too. Say no to drugs. Especially those offered by wolves in sheep's clothing. Be respectful but politely assertive. Expressing your real feelings of annoyance and frustration is honest and fair, and if they refuse to respect your feelings then they were not real friends in the first place. :)

WalterWhite comments on Apr 3, 2018:
If you have a history of not applying the diet, then you can't expect reliable results. Those Atkins diet types reduce wieght by reducing more water weight in the beginning, so poeple get excited that it is so easy, but that does not last and it gets harder and harder as the body fights back. The DASH diet is still number one for good reason with proven results over a long time now. Lots of info online free on it. You have use what works for you, and basically any diet that cuts down on the usual salt, sugar, and fat will be more healthy! Also diets takes time, so don't weigh yourself every day or obsess over a lb or two in one direction or the other. It's a lifestyle change for what will benefit you in the long run and setting that routine to be your "normal" food choices takes a while. Maybe others have some good hints too. Good luck!
Purpose
WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
I think the purpose of life for humans is identical to that for every other species on Earth. That being to survive and to thrive! Humans are very complicated silly creatures of course, so the thriving part for us is very complicated becaue we, and the world we live in, is so complex and diverse. Some people may thrive by feeling fulfilled as a nurse, or doctor, or a stay at home Mom. Some may be driven to be great singers, or actors, or be rock stars. Some thrive and feel persoanly fulfilled by gaining money or fame or setting new world records. Some may have misguided ideas due to bad circumstances and thrive by taking advantage of others or causing harm. That is part of our reaility as well. Each of us makes our own meaning as we see fit, and we are all imperfect so sometimes we struggle to find the right way on our path.

WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
As an older person I have no problem admitting when I am wrong if that's the case, or apologizing, and thankfully I seldom put my foot in my mouth anymore. But having had a long life and lots of life experience, I tend to offer advice to those who truly may not need it sometimes. I think I do it from love with the hope of saving them from trying things that most often do not work. I do not aim to solve people's problems for them. But just to guide them to think, and maybe ask themselves some questions to give them a different perspective. For you, asking what the problem is works best as you tried, but if someone totally cuts you off, then you have accept that and move on. I suggest not letting it wiegh you down with worry that it must be entirely your own fault. Sometimes we can say things too truthfully to someone that hits too close to home for them without realizing it. Seomtimes it may be your fault too. And they may shut down unexpectedly to avoid facing an issue, or to avoid being hurt. You have 7 billion other poeple to choose from for chats! Have a super day.

Just hold that up to the comment you are reading and your prayers are answered to be smiled at! lol Just kidding by the way. :)
Are You Lonely?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
Thanks for the good ideas and info on the kinds of loneliness. I am a 1,2 and 4 as well, but more heavy on the 1 side. I am older, at 69, and gay, and over the last 5 years I thought perhaps my needs for the close contact for things like a bit of sex and cuddling, and holding someone tight would be fading away! But I was wrong. I had been married to a loving woman for 20 years and also have a terrific son. ( long story but no regrets) After a short time of turmoil and personal growth for me, my wife found a new man in her life, and I found a new man too. I had a great long term relationship with a guy but our age difference eventually came into play and we decided to part as partners. We still remain close friends though. I am feeling lonely, and common sense tells me I have had my share, so I should just suppress my needs. Then my common sense also says what do I have to lose to search for another guy to build a genuine friendship and relationship with? To hold tight, give love and respect, give warm oil massages to, and give tender unexpected kisses on the neck to make that person feel loved like I hope will happen in return? lol Am I just a silly old man that should let it go? What does your high IQ, and obviously fine mind, have to say about my dream for more love in my life?
Would you date a woman that had sex on the first date?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
It's fine for women to have sex with whom they want, when they choose, if it is mutally agreed upon, yes? If the date went well, perhaps sex with her date would be fine. If the date went badly, she might find relief by having sex with someone else, or by her own hand, or buy a pizza and watch a nice movie at home. I see no reason why women cannot have the same choices as men. Well, except for that prostste checkup thing! :)
Atheists make up their own fantasy morals and meanings of life. [patheos.com]
WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
So sort of like Theists do a lot of the time as well I guess. Theists in various regligions make up their own ideas on morals and the meaning of life from their own interpretations of their man-made writings. Atheism makes no comment on morals or the meaning of life, so there is no reason that the people who happen to be Atheists would not be allowed to decide for themselves what their views are on those things, correct?
Forest for the trees
WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
Being a victim of one religion or another brings with it the false idea that the person is special and perhaps superior to others. Thus relgions often cause division between people in families, communituies, nations, and between cultures. In their indoctrinated efforts to prove their personal invisible god version is the "real" one, we see throughout History how religious followers are often willing to die for, and to kill for, their heartfelt beiefs in man-made stories they are trained to take on faith. Those not afflicted with relgion are more free to evolve to be more enlightened to see the truth that we are all one family in one species on this little spaceship Earth. So a soldier aiming a rifle at "the enemy" is in truth aiming at a member of his own extended family that he is having a dispute with. Sad really.

Should religion be taught in schools?
WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
NEVER! One of my pet peeves actually. Innocent children are vulnerable to being trained to just believe things at a time when they have not yet developed good reasoning and skeptical thinking skills. Teach them basic common sense morals, and leave Allah's, Jesus', Yahweh's, and Kishna's relgion businesses out of it.

WalterWhite comments on Apr 2, 2018:
We do have a real human spirit as that part of our minds and selves realtied to our higher thoughts of love and compassion, and how we relate to others and the Universe around us. The word soul was actually used in a medical sense in Pscychology as that part of the psyche until about a century ago. But as for religious "eternal souls", that idea was not fabricated until fairly recent times on mankind's long 200,000+ year timeline. There is zero evidence that any supernatural souls exist in man any more than in rats or maple trees.
