@Deiter I agree that jealousy and possessiveness are part of American culture. America is an individualistic society where people must "own" their partner. We are also a culture of monogamy and anything outside of that is sin, bad, or wrong. I believe people, in American society, can change their beliefs and work very well with a poly relationship. We don't innately just love one person. I don't quite understand the analogy of 1 child vs 10. If I had 10 children I would love all of them just as I love my 2 children.

Polyamory can work with open communication regarding emotions. Those involved don't have to contain emotions, they need to honestly express and respect emotions. If someone chooses to be poly it's not just about seeing other people. It's about loving others and being ok with your lovers loving others.
