Rustee comments on Mar 21, 2019:
As soon as we start limiting the types and number of guns our citizenry can have, the anti-gun people will use that to tighten the proverbial noose until there are no guns in private hands left to protect. I do not *like* many types of firearms, but I believe we need to honor our right to have them.

"The trick of declaring war against the armed resistance and then attacking the resisters’ unarmed kin as well as the surrounding population with the most gruesome products of Death-Science”; this trick is not new. American Pioneers were pioneers in this too; they made it standard practice to declare war on indigenous warriors and then to murder and burn villages with only women and children in them. This is already modern war, what we know as war against civilian populations; it has also been called, more candidly, mass murder or genocide. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised that the perpetrators of a Pogrom portray themselves as the victims, in the present case as victims of the Holocaust. Herman Melville noticed over a century ago, in his analysis of the metaphysics of Indian-hating, that those who made a full-time profession of hunting and murdering indigenous people of this continent always made themselves appear, even in their own eyes, as the victims of manhunts. The use the Nazis made of the International Jewish Conspiracy is better known: during all the years of atrocities defying belief, the Nazis considered themselves the victimized. It’s as if the experience of being a victim gave exemption from human solidarity, as if it gave special powers, as if it gave a license to kill." Already we have had forced on us, against our will, some 600,000 Zionist Jews. We are threatened with many hundreds of thousands more. Our position is so simple and natural that we are amazed it should even be questioned. It is exactly the same position you in America take in regard to the unhappy European Jews. You are sorry for them, but you do not want them in your country. We do not want them in ours, either. Not because they are Jews, but because they are foreigners. We would not want hundreds of thousands of foreigners in our country, be they Englishmen or Norwegians or Brazilians or whatever. Think for a moment: In the last 25 years we have had one third of our entire population forced upon us. In America that would be the equivalent of 45,000,000 complete strangers admitted to your country, over your violent protest, since 1921. How would you have reacted to that? Because of our perfectly natural dislike of being overwhelmed in our own homeland, we are called blind nationalists and heartless anti-Semites. In the capitalist system the banks have priority economic rights and enjoy first-class citizenship, which is why we can say that the banks are worth more than life. If you ever demonstrate that you do think yourself, I might be interested in that as well. Instead, you seem to want to fling poo because of whatever bug has crawled up your ass. The topic is the attack on the USS Liberty and what people think is the truth about it. I'll have to scroll back and see what precious gems of wisdom you have offered. Someone voted "Don't know." That might be as far as they take it. I think it applies to our current relationship as much as it did back them. One rationale was it was a false flag to draw the US into the conflict on the Israeli side. Another was that it was an attempt to hide the fact they were murdering captured Egyption soldiers (which did happen). Regardless of the motivation, the Israelis committed war crimes against Amaerican naval personnel... and got away with it. The history of the event and the contortions in covering it up speaks volumes about the exceptionalism granted Chosanistan. But please, continue with your amateurish attempts at oneupsmanship. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot." ~ Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot

@Donotbelieve no connection specifically to this thread (other than maybe a tenuous one to "cigar" lol). The connection for me is things that intrigue. Over there someone said "No one wants to see men's junk on TV," to which you enthusiastically responded, "Oh, I do!" Either you were kidding, or you happen to be one of those (rare?) women for whom visual erotica and/or depiction of male genitalia is arousing/enjoyable/stimulating/pleasurable/tolerated/whatever etc. That brought to mind my own sharing in a FB PM of an image of myself that was treated as the type that people (men) inflicting photos of their naughty bits on women are. It was a pic that was actually in my public profile, but I had failed to notice I had not cropped sufficiently. It was my cat on my bed in front of the mirror at the head of the bed that I took sans pants. It just looked like two legs, when in actuality, a portion of "third leg" was displayed. She had already seen and liked the pic, but I had apparently erred in revealing that particular tidbit.

@Donotbelieve The winding road down to the hospital would have been a challenge as well, what with venemous reptile toxin coursing through my veins, amplified by the adrenalin of fear, and the extertion of the hike back (should I have made it that far) as it is a pretty steep climb out. The downhill traverse alone gets me winded. In fact, another time while driving up to a different hiking spot on the same road with friends after ingesting some substances intended to put us in an altered state once we got there, it kicked in early and I declared excitedly, "We're driving on the back if a snake!"

Every single argument against Renickulous's position is bullshit, one degree or another. That being said... Sorry, buddy, I don't agree with you either... And some of your arguments and counter points have been pretty weak, or downright rude. I get it, it's a sensitive topic, but you've gotta grant...
WilliamCharles replies on Mar 13, 2019:
I am actively anti-war and push for prosecution for war crimes to prevent further war crimes. That falls in a greatest good for the greatest number category considering. Renick has numbers, but it's debateable if it's greatest good material. We all pick our battles whether rhinos, or kittens, or abortion, or whatever. There is nuance to questions about birth control or support for children already here and mothers in need if assistance. I am actually not that far from his position as I recently heard a host on one of the humanist shows I think who said most likely in the future people who were pro-choice will be seen as being on the wrong side of history the same as we view a pro-slavery position now. It reminded me of a scene in the 2010 sequel I read (will look up) where the future women the astronaut was about to have sex with saw he was circumcised and got grossed out, feeling it was a barbaric practice. Ideally, I believe abortion safe, legal, and rare. It is an issue that women deserve the greatest say over. As the joke goes, if men could get pregnant abortion would be a sacrament. The same holy rollers dead set against contraception and even child welfare are the most vocal about making the decision for the mother including in cases where the viability of the fetus and life of the mothrr come into play. Patriarchy plays a part as does the desire to control others based on one's oorld view. The same applies to same sex relations. If you don't like gay sex, don't do gay sex. All of us are subjected to Catch-22, which author Joseph Heller described in an interview as, "Catch-22 means people have the right to do to you anything which you can't prevent them from doing to you." So yeah, I reject his framing of "if you admit a fetus produced by human combination is human, then it demands you agree with me" as being bullshit, and lacking nuance itself. We live in a world with varying degrees of control over any number of things. It would be nice to have more choices that were simple cases of black and white, but that's not the cases. Thanks for your input. Not complete disagreement I think, but neither have me persuaded on anything substanitive.
