@Renickulous Again, by the scientific standards you accept, answer the questions about your actions in the face of these "murders." You have tge attention of a pretty diverse forum. I'd think you'd want to share how much in depth ghought you've given to your own assertions. Consider my poll question an abstention for the moment. But this is literally "your baby." Enlighten us, please. I am certainly interested as I am sure at least a few others are as well. We're conducting this in multiple locations and I'm responding in both. Did I ask you ask the "save one only petri dish "baby"/"baby" baby in a fire" question here yet? Should be easy to answer for you since you assert you have the answer to the "what is a human life?" question. Have at it, Renick. You got the floor.

@Renickulous You're not a prosecutor so get bent lad. But you are making some statements that you insist carry some obligations depending on how it is answered. You say humans are being murdered. No one in here that I know of is currently murdering any. But these "murders" are taking place, and yet the extent you are sticking your neck out is to ask the "are they human?" question in an online forum. A question you say you already know the answer to. A question that, regardless which of the two options I should select, you'll still be in here... doing nothing... but asking questions... in the face of these "murders" you say are being committed. So murder only bothers you to the extent you can get someone else to adopt your own viewpoint, but no more than that. Are you one of those that feel even contraception is murder? If not, do you work for greater sex education and pregnancy prevention programs? You know, "Children by choice not chance?" If not, why not? That would help YOU prevent a lot of these "murders" you want everyone else to concede are happening. Or is that "concession" the extent of your concern?

@Renickulous There's no statute of limitations on murder. Would you try to prosecute everyone who ever had or performed one? If not why not? You insist terminology is important. @Renickulous That's like saying you not lobbying for mothers and doctors to be prosecuted for murder destroys your argument... or does it? You feel it is the "murder" of a human being, and yet your own actions seem to fall short of that. Why so? Are there other murders you so casually condone? Why or why not? This seems to do a fairly good job framing the issue. "Abortion is the focus of some of the most intense social, cultural, political, religious, and ethical debates in modern American society. Some regard abortion as something people should be able to choose while others say abortion is a great evil which is destroying the moral fabric of society. Many of the debates turn on the status of the fetus: Is a fetus a person? Does a fetus have moral or legal rights? How we define a person and the fetus may decide the abortion debates." https://www.thoughtco.com/when-fetus-become-person-with-rights-248026

Well honestly, just dipping my toe in the water s I have has been a little disconcerting so far. The first knockdown drag out I have been involved with in here was for my own public post regarding a 3-day ban on Facebook. I had used the single word "Putz" commenting on some nonsense Chuck Schumer was supporting (criminalizing BDS iirc). This otherwise liberal former prosecutor came in swinging smearing me as an anti-Semite. I won't tag him here but he's mentioned by name there still because I addressed every one of his smears and statements point by point. He then deleted all his comments and disappeared. I personally am sick to death of those considering any criticisms of Israel, or Zionism, or Zionists themselves as anti-Semitic and I was loaded for bear. He skidaddled right quick.

@TheMiddleWay I haven't created any arguments with the other side. No comments at all in their group as of yet. Just looked at a comment stating a negative view of some godless camp run by the SSA (Secular Student Association) because they were too liberal. Kinsey interviewed quite a number of people convicted of sexual crimes iirc. Regardless of his feelings towards their actions (child molesters, for instance), I believe he was able to gather data by doing his research in a clinical, dispassionate, non-judgemental manner. It is irrelevant if outside of those interviews he thought or said to someone, "that was one sick fuck!" And before you unleash your grad school whoop-ass on me, I'm not comparing my venture over there to someone doing hard research, but as I stated, I am genuinely curious (bipartisan curious? ? ). I hope I'd learn something like Bernie Sanders did when he did a townhall in WV following the Trump win. Those counties voted for Obama twice, but went for Trump in 2016. He wound up bringing quite a few to agreeing with his policy goals. I have no doubts that the dead-enders are unreachable, but winning back the presidency in 2020 will most likely require coalition building of some sort. And I can't imagine a better group of Republicans than the godless as far as picking their brains for ideas. They should be amenable to some sort of reason, where the religiously fixated often are not. But I will not be looking to sway anyone in there necessarily, because that is not my purpose in being there, but I hope can learn something that could be useful outside of that specific group. I made one sardonic comment in my original post about a figurehead I expect they'll either be forced to defend, or actually want to. Challenging them won't come from me though because I already stated I would not be in there a bomb-throwing troll. Possibly I might ask questions hoping they'd choose to flesh out their views. If any of them see my post here, as the public setting of my post would allow, I'll gladly engage them at any level they choose. Just as I'm doing with you. If having identified myself here means someone responds to me there, I'll specifically not resort to any ad hominems, even with regard to #45. You're welcome to bring up any of your points or concerns there as well. I'm addressing them here in a context not applicable there. Ironically, the approach I think will be most effective will be a Hitlerian model, though it doesn't require being based on deceit. “All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.” ~ Adolf Hitler And with regards to me seeming pissy here - "Under certain circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to ...

@TheMiddleWay Then let them meet head to head in the arena of ideas. They're snowflakes calling everyone else snowflakes. You have not established your point in the least. It's the analysis I'm asking to be impartial (a synonym of dispassionate). To look at the evidence itself dispassionately regardless of whatever strong feelings one has based on the things one has already learned supported by facts. If someone makes a better argument even if from a stance not in line with my own, I concede the fact. We can disagree on interpretations, but it has to start with acknowledging a common baseline of factual information, no?

Your half the population observation is correct. Republicans claim to love America, but easily hate half the population. WilliamCharles replies on Mar 12, 2019:
Here's an example of a clinical observation. Republicans have long sounded the alarm about the growing federal deficit and deficit spending and portrayed themselves as responsible stewards of the economy. Now that they have exploded the deficit, they say it's no big deal, while at the same time pushing to destroy many of the social programs they've always hated because of it. Again, probably my biggest curiosity and reason for joining in the first place is to see how they can reconcile their humanism with a party of avowed god-botherers. The party with massive evangelical support of someone so lacking in Christian morals and integrity ("Christian" as stated, not practiced). This is a party of whom many feel the election of Trump is no less than God's will. How can unbelievers ally themselves with this? It's as incongruous as Jews for Hitler would be. Or Dems ignoring the abuses of apartheid Israel. I imagine what I'll find is it is all about power. It usually is. There's power in a group hating the same things you hate. If the hatred is warranted, I have no problem with that. What I hate is a lack of integrity and hypocrisy that goes with that. I feel standards should be applied uniformly, and am willing to call out anyone who deserves it.

WilliamCharles replies on Mar 12, 2019:
@TheMiddleWay - There is no incongruity. The assessment can be dispassionate, while the reaction itself can be quite strident. I don't mind an intensely emotional reaction if it is supported by facts. I'd agree with them if they pointed out that Hillary Clinton is criminally corrupt, or that often governmental programs can be counterproductive. The lack of objectivity is my concern. That doesn't require sugar coating everything or falling back on a "both sides" approach either. As I said, while I'll be leaving all this outside, I can still judge their arguments, should they present any, on merits. If a particular sobriquet is deserved, so much the better. "If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention."

Why, because I open with a dig on the Mango Manchild? Should I offer my views here on why the Yam-in-Chief is such an execrable piece of garbage? My dispassionate analysis brings me to the conclusion that he should be mocked endlessly in the hope it will chase him from office as rapidly as possible. The only reason ridiculing his physical attributes is fair game is because it's a staple of his own attacks, and the tiny hands gigging is especially annoying to him. The mayor reference is because he's so wholly incompetent and corrupt, that it's truly unbearable that he has failed upward to the point of the position he now holds. The damage unstable POS is causing will be long lasting. This is about as dispassionate as I can get regarding Fuckface von Clownstick. If the winky emoji is meant to be like a snark tag, no matter. An interesting tidbit about the art used in the show and the video linked. "Yaoi" is a genre of Japanese art, usually made for and by girls, that uses fictional media to create sexual or romantic relationships between male characters. This art form was displayed heavily in the Season Nineteen episode, "Tweek x Craig" and in the video game South Park: The Fractured But Whole as a part of the Scavenger Hunt: The Yaoi Project mission. Many of the Yaoi pictures seen in the episode were drawn and submitted by South Park fans, at the request of the show's creators. I've been told by women who've suffered abuse that they don't feel it is ever appropriate to use as it was a regular element of their abuse. The artist is Australian so it doesn't have quite the same context as it does for Americans (comic Jim Jefferies does a great defense of it - says it is even in Chaucer). I find it such a happy little ditty despite the subject matter. I regularly have it running thtough my head when walking/hiking as it wonderfully sets the pace and I cover quite a bit of ground. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e8sI_nDq2kw&t=9s

I worked at a university with a large international student body. Always loved getting viewpoints from around the globe.

@JOHNGALT - Was the staff advisor to the student atheist group for a time. It's eye opening to feel more in common from someone from the other side of the world than some of the holy rollers of your own street/city/state/country.

I'm really happy you are enjoying the group and I dig your contributions. I haven't been able to engage much in the last couple of days but yes I approve and if you max out on how many posts you can put up in a day let me know and I will lift it again. I only changed it due to the recent group ...

I hit the six max limit but no need to change it on my account. The tracks will still be out there tomorrow (hopefully).

Parlez - moi, mon grand bon - a - rien, Tu ta gaspiller mon bien! Parlez - moi, mon grand bon - a - rien, Tu ta gaspiller mon bien! English translation: Let's talk of drinking, not of marriage, Always regretting those pretty days gone by. If you marry a pretty girl, They all want to steal her away from you. If you marry an ugly girl, You've got to live with her your whole life long. If you marry a poor girl, You'll spend all your life working. But if you marry a rich girl, Nobody respects you. "Tell me about it, you big good - for nothing; You've used up (wasted) all my wealth! TelI me about it, you big good - for nothing; You've used up all my wealth!"
