Retired from Nursing after 25 years. In the 70's to early 80's I worked at a FDA research center. In 1981 had a bad motorcycle accident that put me in the hospital for over a month. I spent a year off work, and during that time I learned that R.N's were making 3 times what I was in research, so during that time off I started in nursing school. The research center would allow me to go to school, and during my breaks I would work at the center. After my 1 year in nursing school, I was offered the opportunity to work in the E.R. As a clinical nurse external, so after school, and on week ends I worked the Land of ER, and during the summers I worked the research center. It was actually a great learning experience, plus it kept me from starving
Luckily most of my college credits I received while working at N.C.T.R. ( the National Center for Toxicological Research ) was tranferrable for my nursing degree. I was studying animal sciences, had received my A.A.L.A.S certifications as lab tech and the AALAS Registered Lab Animal Technologist cert. .
Hell, spent a whole lot of time in classes over the years.
I was raised in Arkansas and have been an Atheist for 58 years. Living in the south AND being an Atheist was a challenge in the 60's and 70's. I've been living in Mississippi 28 years ( another state that is a challenge to live as an atheist ) . From 2000 to 2010 I did the travel nursing ( taking 13 week contracts at hospitals needing nurses in other states ) and traveled around the U.S. . That in it's self was an educational experience! I've got a fair scientific background, and love sciences. ( which is great when it comes to arguing with Theist) I'm hoping to meet a lot of people on here, a learn some new things. Get some additional insights , maybe hear some thoughts that I haven't considered! Thanks!
