How common do you think asexuality is? Are we the last group to come out of the closet or what? Lol
Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 29, 2020:
It's less common than LGBT+ conditions. I think the hardest part for people to understand is that it’s not celibacy or abstinence, those would indicate desire. There's no desire, although I remember enjoying a good orgasm when I was active but that's been over 20 years now.
What has been the hardest part about being asexual for you?
Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 29, 2020:
When I say I'm not interested it's not a challenge for you to find my hidden kink... I don't even know if I have any kinks left. I think that trans women are more likely to be asexual then other populations, I have no credentials for this other than my own life.

I was part of the trash crew at the Long Beach Pride event and a reporter asked me what I thought of how much money the event was raising as if I were someone of authority, I said hopefully if they raised enough they would find a cure. To be fair I said it sarcastically, suddenly there's a person sticking a microphone in my face and asking about raising money. I had no idea what charity they were talking about because I was working and I had heard someone talking about aids a few minutes before. It's a great way to become unpopular in the media all at once.

That’s beautiful and awesome and it pisses me off that I wasn’t aware of the near extinction of chestnuts until now. It’s up there with passenger pidgins, Buffalo, and bald eagles. All because people foolishly try putting exotic species in environments that can’t deal with them. Feral pigs in the USA, rabbits in Australia, fish from Southern Asia brought to the Great Lakes in bilges of ships. All disasters. I don’t get silly about traffic stops to declare agricultural products you’re transporting.

Not to mention the financial perks, and white supremacist Christians can say they’re obviously not racist because black white supremacist ministers are a thing. Do you believe in mythology?
Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 25, 2020:
Yes, they're the demented diary of the human species. Each myth is typically environmentally inspired by natural observations. Like the great forest, which dies when it's cold, then comes back to life in spring. It happens with trees so it has to work for animals as well. Everyone knows cats have nine lives, and I saw that cat on the stairwell get ran over 35 years ago. Egyptian mythology is about the Nile River, an odd spot to focus on in an infinitely diverse universe. So the size of the world in these myths was limited by their perception of the world. A very small universe. It should be an academic study.

Most of this rift is from the "FU" conservatives and corporate Democrats. Sadly we didn't have a candidate with policies that were Progressive that weren't high priority targets for right wing media and sympathetic disapproval by moderate democrat media. But please state your case, tell us your agenda without lying about the designed outcome. Republicans advocating freedom of political speech typically spend a lot of time picking at whatever is the highest value targets of their political opponents. Hillary and Benghazi. They're still having court cases to reopen investigations, after what a billion dollars of court cost at tax payers expense. Republicans are a cult, a cult of conformist and their masters, all "True Christians" as opposed to denominations that don't agree with white supremacy.

The Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn has been in the news of late.
Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 25, 2020:
It's a conjunction of two different gods from two different mythologies that are are confusingly the same. Saturn is the Roman version of the Greek Titan Cronus who was the father of the Gods but didn't want kids so he'd swallow them all as they were born, but the wife of Cronus loved her children and switched the first with a large rock then kept him in a secret place to be raised as Zeus, who ultimately defeated his father and freed his brothers and sisters, Zeus in Roman is Jupiter. So from an astrological vantage point it's like misogynistic overload, double the toxic masculinity, just as the world faces the Trump toxic masculinity as well as toxic masculine movements all over the world. An unfortunate coincidence that many will take as evidence. After all it's one hell of a coincidence.

Reductive evolution depends on the ability of a species to receive the benefit they lose by being able to manufacture needed material directly from the environment. We primates have a good example of this, vitamin C production. When our distant ancestors had a mutation that disabled our ability to make our vitamin C they probably didn't notice, their diet already was rich in vitamin C due to fruit and vegetable consumption. The same mutation has probably happened in obligate carnivores on an individual level, but they die of scurvy before passing the broken genes to their descendants. Consequently we primates are the only family of species I know of that have no ability to manufacture vitamin C from an all meat diet, like cats, dogs, and killer whales.

There is a special wit to so succinctly saying something so clever. There's an art to it. Like an odd sort of poetry. Some of us love etymology, it's how I taught myself Old English back when the Internet was not something available except at universities. Either super computers or modem dial in that was limited or prohibitively expensive. I just cross referenced five unabridged dictionaries. We had one that was 27 volumes. But the others were just preposterously large books with small type that included the history of a word. Knife is spelled this way because in late Old English it was called cnīf with a hard c like can, from Old Norse it was called knífr, of Germanic origin. Try listening to Chaucer in Middle English, it's a different language and has a bit of my fascination.

Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 25, 2020:
It's a concern but not necessarily as much to fear as we expect. Yes we need to address this. Judges are more tightly constrained in their opinions then you might think. I know of no higher court judge that pulls opinions out of their ass because the opinions can only be built on precedent, not personal opinions. The worst situation they seem to achieve is being nudged toward using harsher language in their opinions. For example RBG couldn't just make an opinion that women should be treated fairly, she had to show how gender discrimination adversely affected everyone, even white men, before her opinions could carry the weight they needed to effect change. Republican politicians in particular find it perplexing when conservative judges don't tow the party line, but the line they're being called on to tow is to arbitrary and superficial for the judges to allow the nonsense to continue. But yes, if presented with the right case and with the right precedence they could overturn Row V Wade, but they can't and don't do such things the way politicians do, otherwise they wouldn't have ruled that the 1964 Civil Rights act article 7 covers LGBT+ issues, it's illegal to fire someone because they're queer or trans, not a ruling I would have expected from the SCOTUS that did it. Yes their faith disturbs me.
The issues regarding 'trans' people are some of the hardest for me to reconcile.

Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 24, 2020:
If Christians want to save Christianity they need to sound a lot more like the famous leftist Jesus. Lets face it there's always been believers, but here's the irony of it. Right wing Christians, Pre Civil War, were slave holders that preached rules and punishment, at the same time there were liberal non slave owning Christians that basically believed in humanism, fought for liberation of slaves and equality. Somehow since 1980 and the Reagan revolution the Right Wingers claim to own Christianity. When I believed I studied the words of Jesus (whom Christians consider God) and it was all very liberal. "What you do to the least of these you do also to me." Or the story of the good Samaritan, that's an ethnic slur not a title. Samaritans were despised they believed an older almost completely different version of Judaism. If Jesus told the story today I imagine it would be about Ministers and TV Evangelist trying to get money from a starving person and how a gay atheist fed him and nursed him back to health. I will always be grateful for my foundational studies in humanism coming from Christianity, but honestly when people are loud about "Christianity" they are specifically referring to white supremacist political Christianity. If the First and Second Councils of Nicaea were held in twenty first century America white supremacist Christianity would be called Heresy. Most people reject white supremacist Christianity for what it is, a capitalistic tool to enslave the masses just as Adolph Hitler used Christianity. Our reaction isn't a war on Christianity, it's a war on fascism. I greatly enjoy liberal Christians that involve themselves in politics, they advocate equality and helping people, LGBT and all. Here's a sample of Rev. Dr. William Barber II. one of a select few I enjoy hearing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9oqItV8FB8

I did little theater for awhile to overcome painful shyness. It's weird on stage, I couldn't see any faces at all due to the stage lights so I pretended the plays were being filmed and the audience reaction was the sound track that also becomes part of the act in the sense that sometimes you had to react to it while making it all look like part of the act. It was exciting, the only down side, old theater people who just went on and on as if their experience was the only one that mattered. I doubt that's as much of an issue with comedy, but I haven't had a chance to do comedy unless you count AA testimonials.

In 44 BC, following the death of Julius Caesar, a comet appeared in the heavens over Rome and was accepted to be a manifestation of the divine soul of Julius Caesar. It was thought to herald a new age of peace and prosperity. Augustus used this event to emphasize his familial association with the deified Julius. What does it have to do with the Nativity? It's a popular culture when there wasn't much by way of media. If you think people have a problem with "In God we Trust" on our money imagine how people in Palastine using Roman coins felt. Obviously if Caesar gets a star then so should the Messiah right? In fact like Christians today they tended to borrow validity anywhere they could, including the Magi that brought gifts. Magi was the title given to the priest class of the religion of Zoroastrianism or Mazdayasna. So if they brought gifts then the Jesus religion is better. It's as if Mormons claimed the Pope came and blessed the Mormon Temple in Utah, which of course he would never do, but what a propaganda coup to tell such a lie and get away with it. There's very good reason to believe the very same comet was claimed to be the Christmas Star it didn't matter that it was anachronistic, there's a lot of scrambled history in the Gospel fan fiction.

He'll sound as confident and validated two years from now, he'll be crying foul to his last breath even if he wins the 2024 election. This is why Republicans project emotional instability and childish grievance on their enemies, it all comes from within them, they only describe themselves, but only those of us who saw Trump for what it was would have believed that in 2015.

Trump is not only a loser, he is a pitiful fucked up sore loser, and his followers are even worse.

I knew he was a sore loser four years ago when he was a sore winner. Sore losers are sore winners too.
Now, doesn't this merit a NO SHIT, SHERLOCK more than anything else? [msn.com]

It has been attempted before. Liberal to Democratic Socialist level Progressive stations have formed but tend to lose their audience by spending a lot of in depth time on local issues while the Sith stations just keep repeating the same old baseless lies that Joe and Jane average just assume there's at least some truth to. There isn't and never was truth to any of it. Meanwhile in the next hour we'll be talking about the pine borer epidemic in the pine forest around big bear.
How can evil atheists not let the nativity be displayed on public property?
Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 13, 2020:
Only straw man atheist hate Christmas, actual atheist just have a good time like everyone else. There are more Christians that have doubts about December 25th than atheist since it has obvious pagan influences like the tree and yule log traditions. It's just conservative media trying to make aliens of us. Two can play that game. For example: "Trump is a liar, his nickname is shit, his heart pumps piss, and he don't love Jesus." Let that bounce around the kingdom hall a few months.

America’s Three Richest People Are Now Positioned To Pay Zero State Income Tax

Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 13, 2020:
I don't know, it all seems a bit presumptuous, I don't really think of "free thinkers" as a substitution for "enlightened" for example. It's not about having the one true outlook, it's about knowing the truth, about self, society, the physical universe, the nature of things as best we can tell. It takes time, and the less time invested the more preposterous the assumptions. I've learned so much it's making me stupid because the more you learn the more you find there is to learn, it's quite humbling.
Are we liberated from aggravation or do you stand alone to conquer the world?
Willow_Wisp comments on Dec 12, 2020:
Yes, memory is selective but I distinctly wished desperately to be alone as a kid. I built tree houses deep in the forest. I furnished and decorated the attic of our barn which was a segment of a pre WW1 barracks my dad bought from Fort Rucker. They never knew I had a secret place up there, and none of them would do a fool thing like climbing the wall to get up there like me. The best thing about Batman was his Bat Cave and his Bat Computer. The best thing about Superman was his fortress of solitude. I always wanted secret passages and hidden safe rooms, but that's so expensive, and easy to misunderstand. I considered joining a a religion that does cloistering and vows of silence just to be left the F alone. But childhood terror fades, I got married, for 14 years, and we had two daughters and a large comfortable house that was mostly paid for. Then the economy collapsed and we divorced and following Biblical advise I gave them my share of everything. became homeless and survived from 2008 to 2015 when I got my high tech career rebooted. Now the Covid-19 pandemic after a fight with cancer, type II diabetes brought on by to much Ibuprofen (2400 mg a day) by the VA. No carb diet two years cured it. But the expenses have me living in cheap hotels and sleeping in my car. I feel cat like... I want a hug then I want you to get the F away. That was before Covid.
