Now they’ve No Platformed Richard Dawkins
Willow_Wisp comments on Oct 3, 2020:
The funny part is I've never bought or borrowed one of his books, I just listened to almost everything ever recorded of him on Youtube. Celebrity comes and goes and in most cases it'll be appreciated from afar and soon drown from memory in the backwash noise of the media stream. So I'll watch more Aron Ra. Not a tragedy.

You could look at tithing as a kind of tax, the way many Christians I know feel about income taxes, you'd think the promise of a mansion in cosmic disneyland after you're dead wouldn't get as much of a following as people resenting public education and health care because it's funded by taxes, nope they would rather live in the third world because they believe in this stupid imaginary world. Willow_Wisp comments on Oct 2, 2020:
It's a good thing, before Boris Johnson came down with COVID the Brits were well on the road to MAGA level stupidity too, they had already cut off their nose to spite their face with Brexit. The big danger was that Trump had the kind of physical constitutional advantages that protect the profoundly stupid and drunks. Then he would use his reckless actions and policy as evidence of how minor the pandemic is. Now that that hurdle is over I am torn between wishing on him what he richly deserves for my personal amusement and hoping he recovers for political reasons, primarily so the white supremacist culture warriors from the Evangelicals, Fox News, the Republican Party and all those MAGA morons won't go around claiming that somehow antifa murdered Trump because it won't take five minutes for them to have an elaborate detailed conspiracy theory as soon as Trump started cooling down to room temperature. I live in a rich nuanced world of political perception, it's too bad the MAGA army of darkness thinks people like me are celebrating with drugs, child cannibalism and sodomy while stupidly rooting for Trumps early demise; like they would if it were Hillary. They tend to be shallow like that.

These aren't typical Christian views on the matter, those views are seldom based on "scripture." For many, like Tammy Fey Baker, Heaven is Gods version of Disneyland. Those views range from the ridiculous to the sublime. I've found a wider range of views about the afterlife within Christianity then I've found between other religions. You can clap your hand and chant "I do believe in fairies, I do" the rest of your life and they'll have the exact same chance of showing up as Jesus coming back on a horseback ride with his buddies to save those that suffer from holier then thou'ism. It's so sad that "adults" remain obstanantly naïve on purpose.

Atheist with theological backgrounds have dismissed most of the Sun worshiping theories from Zeitgeist as seriously lame, and this is just carbon copy Zeitgeist paste Zeitgeist and that just sucks. It's not enough to dismiss religion and dogma, it is important to look for competence in all data. My atheism isn't a social club like Fox News, it's a personal quest for truth and competent information. This video is no better than religion itself, just an opposing argument that was at best a flawed hypothesis. Misinformation is my enemy, Christianity is my enemy because it is a carrier of misinformation, the toxic isn't the God stuff, it's all the lies, remove all the lies and the God stuff is gone too.

We can't trust any political party that lies to us, Trump lied about kids being immune to the virus so open the damned schools, that's attempted mass murder. You don't get to invoke a rule that the administration can't appoint a Supreme Court Judge in an election year and get everyone to agree, then appoint one during the election when it's your turn. This illustrates the dishonesty, the self interest, the egotism and the craven hunger for power that has to be removed even if it involves grave sacrifice, they have defined themselves as our enemy, we didn't start this, but we will finish it.
Please raise your hand if you're an atheist AND antitheist.

Which is the more violent holy book?
Willow_Wisp comments on Sep 19, 2020:
I'll not disrespect one by condemning the other, they're both used for vile purpose. It's like asking which is worse the eastern diamond back rattlesnake or the western diamond back rattlesnake. The key is the rattle snake part.

Willow_Wisp comments on Sep 19, 2020:
I like less echo, even if it's fallacious or profoundly naive. If they're legitimate then we don't need as many straw men since they seem more preposterous than my average straw man. Funny the more atheist there are around believers the more believers rely on straw men themselves while the effect is just the opposite for atheist.
Thanks for trying to hang on, Justice RBG.

I don't think an angry 65% of the US population will let that happen. When it comes down to it neither will law enforcement or the military. Well, some law enforcement will, but they're no match.

Do you think religious trauma gets taken seriously?
Willow_Wisp comments on Sep 18, 2020:
Religion is considered so sacrosanct that it has to be a small minority religion to get the title "cult" attached to it before mental health will tackle the problem. It's like killer T cells letting a cancer grow because it doesn't recognize the cancer as a threat. Yes, I AM comparing religion to a tumor in an unflattering way, because they are so very similar.

What do you all think of Pascal's Wager?
Willow_Wisp comments on Sep 18, 2020:
It's a bet I'm in no danger of falling for, it seems if you pretend to believe in God you're as doomed as rejecting the belief in God, so the wager is meaningless if you believe in the divine thought police or if you don't believe in the divine thought police. Willow_Wisp comments on Sep 18, 2020:
Conservatives are simple people that have cartoon images of every group of "others" that they're aware of. protesters = rioters, blacks = angry, education = arrogance, climate change = hoax. Oddly they're the easiest group to generalize. All this civil unrest is for reasons, good reasons. This administration is a beacon of hope to clueless incompetent dunderheads throughout the nation. It's time to end this.
Have you been ostracized because of your lack of belief?
Willow_Wisp comments on Sep 17, 2020:
I can hear relatives whispering and complaining behind my back on those odd rare occasions when I've visited. This was typically followed by lot's of Jesus talk and assurances of nasty kind of condescending love that would defile me if I settled for it. I'd say it's a mutual avoidance. I live in the fire zone, they live in the flood zone. Any closer and volcano's might start going off. A sleep over would create a black hole because it would be too unreal for this universe to accept. I can't stand them but I still worry about them, especially with all the flooding in their area.

I guess today is "Ask an Atheist Day." Is anyone else inviting people to ask?
Willow_Wisp comments on Sep 17, 2020:
Half the draw of being an atheist is to not need to convince people that they have to think like me. I see no point in being an evangelist if you're not evangelical. In the past more often people approach me and I ask questions, like why do you believe this? Why should I believe this. I'm sorry you haven't convinced me, line of conversation. People don't approach me like that anymore.
