I am giving away four TVs that I no longer use. We "cut the cord" years ago, but kept the biggest screen to use as a monitor for streaming movies and sharing stuff on the net. I have never missed television programming.

What's your favorite breakfast/morning tea?
Zster comments on Feb 3, 2019:
I used to love Contant Comment! Since being ordered down to almost no caffeine, I have largely gravitated toward white and herbal teas. My top white, so far, for taste is White Peony. If I want SOME caffeine, Silver Needle is good.

My son and I were just discussing the social decay that we are witnessing and the evidence that we wont do anything to stop it. I asked if one should even consider having a kid or two anymore. He said yes, and you raise them with the values to survive and rebuild something better after it all collapses. He was NOT kidding. THIS is what we are handing off and our youth knows it.

Would you pay extra taxes so that all can get health care?
Zster comments on Feb 2, 2019:
I could come out ahead to pay more in taxes for it if my premiums, deductible, or direct medical costs went down as a result (without reducing the quality of coverage even more). Currently, my monthly premiums cost more than twice my mortgage and I still get to pay in full for doctor's visits because my deductible is in the thousands of dollars range. None of my siblings (by blood or marriage) are insured at all. Their health is horrible. This is likely to be literally killing them all.

Congrats on the sobriety! I did it with AA, taking "HP" to mean that getting sober was possible, if I keep an open mind. Personally, interacting with others seeking sobriety on a regular basis helped me the most. Not feeling alone in it and having someone to call when I struggled with the cravings got me through. Religion was not they key, for me.

I love all the different music that the internet allows me to try, vs being tied to some radio station's play list. My kids (ages 22 and 19) and I are road tripping to hear Panic! at the Disco and Twenty One Pilots live (separate shows). Both kids are constantly turning me on to something new.

I want honest opinions and no fighting.
Zster comments on Jan 28, 2019:
It's not as simplistic as source, but balance of ALL of the nutritional components required to thrive. If the essential amino acid proportions (part of protein that we ultimately need) can be provided by other than a meat diet, then that should meet the cat's protein needs (assuming it's eaten, digested, etc...). Meeting the protein needs meat free might miss other nutrients that are needed though, vitamins, minerals, specific fats etc... The balancing act can be very tricky - ask any vet or animal nutrition major. If I needed to avoid animal protein in my pet, I would work with a professional (vet or nearby university) to make sure any resulting diet is not deficient in anything. Certain deficiencies can kill.Cat food producers used to not know that cats require taurine. A lot of lives likely got cut short (cardiac effects etc) due to that mistake. As to blackballing the applicant to a FB group based on such a thing, seems like malarky to me, with what little I have heard about it.

How do you cope with the death of a loved one
Zster comments on Jan 24, 2019:
I allow myself to hurt, to feel sad, for as long as it takes. I also find much comfort in speaking with others who feel the loss. I do a lot of mental processing when I put my feelings and thoughts into words, be they spoken or written. Time will lessen the ripping sting, but never seems to do so quickly enough. I am sorry if you are currently grieving. There is no pain like it.
Sometimes Being An Atheist is Hard.
Zster comments on Jan 24, 2019:
Ok, my answers are all over the board as I was not real sure what your question was... I don't have issue with either response. When religious rituals make a nonbeliever umcomfortable, it makes good sense to step away. Likewise, even when one believes that such rituals have no power, joining in at such a time in order to draw comfort from sharing in the activity with loved ones harms no one and can be helpful for some. If you are trying to say that you WISH that you could draw honest comfort from such, I hear you. I wish the after life aspects of the fairy tale was true when faced with loss. No one should make you feel wrong if aspects of belief were tolerated or even comforting at such a time. No one keeps score of how "strong" your atheism is. Death is the toughest event I've ever had to face in this life journey. If anything can help with the pain, can get me through it, I'd see that as a good thing. I told myself relious things when my husband passed. I do not believe that way now, but don't punish myself. It got me through. My sincere condolences at the loss of your mother. 101 was a long life. I know that even at that, it could feel too short.

Join the widowed group here at ag.com. You'll find LOTS of people to sound off to, whenever you need. You were correct, at least by my experience. We call thise grief crashes "waves". They are nearly constant immediately after the loss (less than 2 months certainly counts), but tend to space out more with time. It's been twelve years since I lost my husband to cancer. In my case, playing "Dark Side of the Moon" for my son ripped me pretty hard. I can say, though, that many memories now make me smile instead of cry.

That said, my husband was adamant that it be done. He said I had zero say, as the female parent.
When a man truly loves a woman does she become his weakness?
Zster comments on Jan 13, 2019:
As some others have said, a high quality relationship (mutual, respectful, balanced) hopefully strengthens both halves of a pair. However, such caring does often render both vulnerable, which is not do much a weakness as it is about depth of caring and the pain one feels if/when the other harmed.
