What's your best get-rid-of-hiccups tri-hick? asking for a hic friend?
Zster comments on Nov 6, 2018:
Drink a glass of water from the far side of the glass. I've never had it fail. There is entertainment value in it as well.
I've never understood why people talk on the phone in places like stores.
Zster comments on Nov 6, 2018:
If I am on my phone in a store, it's almost always to discuss what to buy. Sorry if that can be construed as rude, but it can be nice to run such things past the person who will share the purchase with me.
Anyone have plantar fasciitis?
Zster comments on Nov 4, 2018:
Mine did not resolve until I got custom orthotics made. My daughter was the same way. I battled for several years, watching my weight, stretches, well supported low shoes, nothing helped (esp the first step in the morning). I hope that you find relief!
Last Concert
Zster comments on Nov 4, 2018:
Most recent (Friday): Gary Clark Jr. Fave more recent show: Lord Huron. One of the greatest of the many I have been to: the Kinks, back in the early 1980s. Stevie Ray Vaughn put on one heck of a live show, back in the day, too. I am darned glad to have seen him when I could.
On a first date do you go Dutch (share the bill)?
Zster comments on Nov 4, 2018:
I always offer to split, but will defer to the one who did the inviting on the date if they feel strongly about it, unless I am picking up a creepy vibe and want to avoid being in an "owing" situation.
From the wtf desk...
Zster comments on Nov 4, 2018:
I don't think he/she understands the definitionof "open minded"...
Have you done the Myers Briggs?
Zster comments on Nov 4, 2018:
I don't care for labels on my profile. Having spent years on a site where most identify by their MB type +/- their enneagram, I did not find such info real helpful, except as a conversation topic. (: I am an ENFP, by the way...

Zster comments on Oct 29, 2018:
My kids are beyond Trick-or-treating age now, but... when Dave passed from cancer on Oct 30, 2006, both kids (then ages 6 and 9) still wanted to do the whole door-to-door tradition. It was very hard to do.
Are You Having A Typical Monday?
Zster comments on Oct 29, 2018:
It was a typical exhausted Monday following my usual sleepless Sunday night. My goal is simply to make it to 5PM without breaking anything. Today I succeeded!
Is your company laying off your newly made friends faster than you can make them?

1985 Top Hits-What Are Your Faves?
Zster comments on Oct 14, 2018:
Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, Ah-ha, and Chaka Kahn are the only ones I like from that list. Mainstream pop and I parted ways in the 80s, and the gulf has widened more since then.

Has anyone every given financial support for something on kickstarter?
Zster comments on Oct 13, 2018:
I really loved kickstarter and had good experiences early on. Later, I donated twice to what ended up being false "causes" (terminal illness, and another raising $ for the marching band). In both cases, someone that I both knew and trusted took the money. I will no longer donate that way.
After Almost 40 Years Polio Might be Back in the United States | Katie Paulson
Zster comments on Oct 12, 2018:
Many living now have no idea the demon that polio is. I realize this is only a related virus, but wonder if full vaccination might cross protect or moderate disease. Awful!

Which superpower would you choose?
Zster comments on Oct 9, 2018:
Tough to choose 1... Reading ANIMAL minds might be cool; breathing underwater, or, I know! Shapeshifting! Then I could also understand other animals and breathe under water (in certain forms).
Which states have you visited?
Zster comments on Oct 9, 2018:
The only ones I have yet to visit: VT, NH, OR, NV, and AK.
What's on your pasta?
Zster comments on Oct 7, 2018:
I seldom have pasta due to carb restriction and have to avoid tomato and red meat for GI reasons. So, I like to sautee some zucchini and mushrooms to toss with cauliflower gnocchi and pesto.
Have you had to turn on the heat yet?
Zster comments on Oct 7, 2018:
No. Still needing the AC. Highs around 90.

Life is basically avoiding people who have seen you naked.
Zster comments on Oct 4, 2018:
Well THAT sure simplifies things! (;
After 3 years on a variety of dating sites I have discovered the rule of 18.
Zster comments on Oct 4, 2018:
Interesting! I wonder if the bias toward younger men reflects fear of being widowed by guys much older. There also could be a higher apparent (might not be real) leaning toward conservative, religious, or patriarchial attitudes toward women as a man's age increases. Of course, it seems that men tend to want to date younger women as well. Perhaps both genders are drawn to the beauty +/- sexual vibe of those "in their youthful prime". It might be interesting to ask and see how folks answer...
What was the first album you ever bought?

Smarter children,?

My son sure is (all high As, aces exams, valedictorian, etc). He is also more ambitious and disciplined. My daughter is more talented than either of us, and that's saying a lot.

Has anyone been through an appendectomy? How long did it take to recover and feel 100% better?
Zster comments on Oct 1, 2018:
Just got mine out last year. No rupture or peritonitis, but I was allergic to the suture or something they used in there. I felt better almost immediately because the pain was gone. I itched for a month. Got most of my strength back within two to three weeks.
FACEBOOK CRAPOLA - My FB feed is filled with pro-Xian, pro-Trump, right wing rhetoric.
Zster comments on Oct 1, 2018:
The "don't follow" setting can do wonders for that, as can telling FB to quit showing you material like this or like that. I did that, plus started following some humor sites and it worked! FB is basically just entertainment for me, now.
Where do you come down on taxation of the churches?
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
Tax them the same way other businesses are taxed.
Today I had someone tell me, " if you don't spank your kids they'll grow up to be brats".
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
MANY of my relatives and people in my geographic area hounded me endlessly about how spoiled rotten my kids would turn out because I did not spank. Mine are now in college and tremendously successful there. Many of theirs have had some pretty huge problems. (not saying there's cause-effect there). Interestingly, my mother voices no small amount of guilt over having spanked my brother and I so much, only to see my kids turn out so well without it.
I'm fairly new to this site and haven't searched through all the old posts yet.
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
Yep. We love any excuse to gather, eat good food, and act celebratory, if for better reason than having the OPPORTUNITY to gather and eat. (:
I have always encouraged my children to be independent and stubborn.
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
It's refreshing to see that some other parents instilling values of independence and thinking over blind obedience and following. In our school system and general area, obedience is king. I think it spills over from the overboard religiosity here.
Patiently waiting for his turn in the box.....
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
I have to wonder how long his patience held. In my household, that cat in the box would have been on borrowed time...
Hairless cats, so many things you could say, but
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
Lol! That just might beat my prior favorite!
Do you think we understand the new generations?
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
As a mother of young adults, I think that while there seem to be skills that are no longer much in vogue, there are also NEW skills that we might not yet see the outcome of. I really think generational wars have always been and almost always underestimate the young to some degree. Time will tell.
To ghost or be ghosted?
Zster comments on Sep 30, 2018:
I try to act early and honestly. A severely hateful backlash, filled with plausible threats or worse can make one think twice about saying anything, though.
I ended up staying home tonight.
Zster comments on Sep 29, 2018:
Treasure this time! I am going through severe withdrawals as my kids are no longer in any bands since they went to college.
This is something that's been bothering me for a couple weeks.
Zster comments on Sep 29, 2018:
Come backs are wasted on a closed mind. I would just pity the fool and hope not to see him again for another twenty years.
What is the best way you see yourselves preparing for retirement?
Zster comments on Sep 28, 2018:
I lived below my means, saving and investing much. I have also done my best to eat right and exercise so that I'll hopefully have the health to enjoy retirement. I could retire in as little as 8 months. Less if this reorganization post merger offers me an earlier window.
How many cups/mugs of coffee do you drink per month?
Zster comments on Sep 28, 2018:
48, assuming 20 workdays in a four week month.
Ren fair woot woot

Zster comments on Sep 28, 2018:
My barn spiders are getting quite large as well... That's a nice one!
Pic of cat escaping flood . . . and human is spot on.
Zster comments on Sep 27, 2018:
Positively fabulous!
What song did your high school band play the most?
Zster comments on Sep 26, 2018:
"The Horse" was THE quintessential stands tune when (and where) I attended high school! Along with "Hawaii Five-O", "Vehicle", "25 or six to 4". At my second school, we played "Louie Louie" a ton.
So when you give your cats treats do they want you to stay there and watch then eat them?
Zster comments on Sep 26, 2018:
I don't think my sticking around is a requirement, but they do seem to enjoy the company at that time.
I'm taking a road trip into the South in November.

Why don’t victims of rape report?
Zster comments on Sep 24, 2018:
Why? Because sometimes the molester will tell the child victim that he will kill the kid's parent if he tells. My child's dad had just died. To threaten his mom was apparently very effective. To this day he wont speak of it.
Anyone here read The Stand by Stephen King? Just about to finish It!
Zster comments on Sep 23, 2018:
Yes! While I was in college I did. It was an excellent read! Kept me at the edge of my seat until the very end!
What have you eaten while not realizing what it was until afterwards?
Zster comments on Sep 23, 2018:
Not so much, but my son apparently ate donkey while visiting China on an exchange. He was not told until after. That meat is a delicacy in that part of the world.
Mine is tootsie rolls. ☺
Zster comments on Sep 23, 2018:
Then or now? Then: Hershey's Special Dark bars.

So I just had a friend die; one of the first to die of an "old age" related condition: heart attack.
Zster comments on Sep 23, 2018:
I am 54. There is emerging a big division of peers of similar age who, like me, look like older versions (slight greying, a hint of facial lines) of their college selves and those who look VERY old, grizzeled, cannot get around, some traveling with walkers or oxygen. It's unnerving because we are the same age! I realize a significant component = genetic roulette, but, there is a marked correlation with the older looking ones having lived hard (we ALL partied, back in the day) for longer. ALL of my sibs (by birth and by marriage) are facing life ending health issues. It's heartbreaking. I don't fear death as my kids are no longer dependent. I will likely welcome it if or when continued living becomes too painful. Oh, and that 59 = dying too young, but 60 = had a good full life is sort of BS, to my way of thinking. I've known very old 45+ year olds and crazy youthful 70 somethings.
What goes in the picnic basket?
Zster comments on Sep 22, 2018:
For a (hopefully) romantic picnic, definitely bring some sort of dessert! The chocolate was an excellent suggestion! Fresh fruit with honey/choc syrup to dip in can be good, French dessert cheese comes to mind... A sweet bread or piece of cake might do. When I pack for a utilitarian picnic, I never include dessert. Having it included would definitely be different/special.
So...are you really impressed by what car a person drives...like society seems to believe...ladies?
Zster comments on Sep 22, 2018:
Nope. Sometimes I wonder if the car is compensating for something...
Do you really care if another member blocks you?
Zster comments on Sep 22, 2018:
I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea... Why would I care about who reads my posts? I typically block to rid my space of negativity. It works!
Weekends..
Zster comments on Sep 22, 2018:
I abhor routine! Weekends are for winging it, doing whatever I want. Often that = cooking with leisure, (instead of rushing), getting the sleep that I want, spending time with my pets, etc.
Where do you prefer to be beach or mountain?
Zster comments on Sep 22, 2018:
I chose beach, but mountains really come close to tying.
Giant strawberries really piss me off.
Zster comments on Sep 22, 2018:
When I clicked on this, I had no idea what on earth giant strawberries could possibly do to earn one's wrath... NOW I know! ?
Happy Equinox fellow Heathens!

Ahoy!! It's "Talk Like a Pirate" day! Will you talk like a pirate today?

I should have brought a bag of Pirate Booty ti work today!
I would like to share a question some of my friends from the believer’s communities commonly ask.
Zster comments on Sep 19, 2018:
I am a human being and so somewhat social by nature. Spiritual opinions have little bearing on that. I get together with friends and family as often as my work schedule will allow. I celebrate what, when, and with whom I want. Honestly, I could flip the question on them and ask how they socialize if they are at church Sunday, Sunday night, Wed night, plus at worship band practice the other nights...
I used to think I had anger management issues when it comes to relationships, but I recently ...
Zster comments on Sep 19, 2018:
Not unreasonable at all. As to why people are not up front in the first place, at least some of the time: cowardice.
What bands do you think most people probably aren't aware of, but absolutely should be?
Zster comments on Sep 18, 2018:

It's a rainy day here in western Massachusetts.
Zster comments on Sep 18, 2018:
Man, does that ever look good! Pea Soup is my fave as well. A warm cup on a rainy day while curled up with a cat and a book sounds fabulous about now...
Who likes to cook, and what's your favorite food to make?
Zster comments on Sep 17, 2018:
I love to cook. I've cooked all meals for my family for twenty years, and cooked for my single self before that. I'm hard pressed to say that I have any one thing or category of food that I best like to prepare. It might be easier to name what I don't: cakes. I don't much care for cakes and have yet to make one that turned out.
Would you settle with a religious person or just stay single?
Zster comments on Sep 17, 2018:
Singlehood for me. I need to respect a partner. Unfortunately, magical thinking interferes with that. Then there's that whole thnking that I deserve hell thing to contend with. That's sort of a turn off.
HI. This group is new. Let's talk about genealogy. I have my tree on ancestry.com also did my DNA.
Zster comments on Sep 17, 2018:
We've been on Ancestry.com for a few years. Made my son the base of the tree in order to trace my late husband's side as well as mine. I am very glad. His family has been fascinating with significant (many generations) Scottish ties. No DNA testing yet, but who knows?
I love my son ❤????
Zster comments on Sep 16, 2018:
I could not agree more! I love my kids, no matter what.
Men versus women. Be honest now who makes their bed after waking up?
Zster comments on Sep 16, 2018:
I do because otherwise my bag-of-water bed would be very exposed to the claws of four cats. I cannot risk it.
Job satisfaction.
Zster comments on Sep 16, 2018:
I loved my current job initially, but current mgmt has sucked the soul out of the place. I feel depressed on Sundays, knowing that I have to go back. I have a plan, though. Change will be coming with my next birthday. (:
We finished the Natchez Trace this afternoon, a true American treasure.
Zster comments on Sep 16, 2018:

Can you love someone that does not love themselves?
Zster comments on Sep 16, 2018:
I have found trying to love those who hate themselves exhausting. In my experience, they both argue that I cannot love them because they are horrible while at the same time, they are demanding nearly constant reassurance that I still do. Also, how can I expect them to return my love if/when they do not have healthy experience of what love is? Both such lopsided relationships ultimately failed after I poured everything and then some into them, because the self-hating person could never accept that I could and did love them. It was heart breaking.
Our daughter's new baby girl.
