Neat! I greatly enjoy journeys, myself...
Are there any anti vaxxers or flat earthers on this site?
Zster comments on May 15, 2018:
There definitely are some.
I identify with this too much.
Zster comments on May 15, 2018:
No rabies here... I've been vaccinated! (;
Hey how do we not have a weather group?
Zster comments on May 15, 2018:
I'm supposed to be moderating? Oops!
What percent of your purchases are made on-line?
Zster comments on May 14, 2018:
30-40%. Most gifts and certain nonperishables. My ordering has decreased some as I have gotten burned by shoddy merch because I could not see it first. Perishable foods and clothes I nearly always buy locally.
Which Star Trek series is your favorite?
Zster comments on May 14, 2018:
Original series, then Next Generation.
Anyone ever done an Escape Room?
Zster comments on May 14, 2018:
We've done a few, with some being operated better than others. I think it works best with a large group of friends. We did an escape once involving a mutant virus and the CDC. (;
So, it's a been quite some time since I've even considered dating.
Zster comments on May 13, 2018:
I honestly don't know. I've been widowed 11 years and have not been romantically drawn to anyone in that time. Yet, I've been repeatedly accused of threatening marriages, luring boyfriends, flirting. Why would I flirt if not attracted? How can common conversation be so mistaken? It's maddening. No real advice here, but plenty of sympathy.
I'm leaving for a while.
Zster comments on May 13, 2018:
Take good care of yourself! We'll look forward to your returning when things settle down around here.
Why are you still on Facebook?
Zster comments on May 13, 2018:
For entertainment mostly. I've set my filters to mostly just let humor content through. It's also the main conduit to much of my family.
Music/songs
Zster comments on May 13, 2018:
"How Great Thou Art", because it's been played at darned near every loved one's funeral. "Stand By Me", because it was our wedding song (he was killed by cancer).
What memory instantly makes you smile?
Zster comments on May 13, 2018:
Stretching out on the deck of the sailboat after cutting the motor beyond Clearwater Pass. Nothing but wind in the sails, sun on the shoulders, and sea whisking past the hull.
Is it necessary?
Zster comments on May 13, 2018:
No, but it can be required for certain careers, if that's what one dreams of doing.
Why don't people have pics of themselves on their profiles.
Zster comments on May 12, 2018:
Some of us get creeped out being shopped for by strangers judging us like a piece of meat. If my use of a humorous avatar, (which DOES reflect something key about me, by the way), upsets someone whose primary criterion is looks, then I consider myself lucky to weed them out before we waste each other's time. Also, seeing a personal photo is NO guarantee that it is an accurate representation of the person posting it., but the viewer will figure things out.
For those of you who believe in scientific theory.
Zster comments on May 12, 2018:
Scientists DO draw wrong conclusions, often. We're human. That is why we publish and encourage others to confirm or refute the work. Mistaken conclusions should get shaken out.

Zster comments on May 12, 2018:
Not sure if this behavior is still a problem or not. You might check out some books by Jackson Galaxy (from Animal Planet's "My Cat From Hell"). He frequently addresses feline aggression and fear behavior. Off the cuff, you might try some hands off play with her, to help her spend pent up energy. I attached catnip mice to the line on a child's fish pole, resulting in lots if chasing by my cats.

Zster comments on May 12, 2018:

Why can't there be more honesty?
Zster comments on May 12, 2018:
Authentic honestly should not be too much to ask. If it is, I'll grow old with my cats. (;

At which level would you be willing to date someone?
Zster comments on May 12, 2018:
If religion is important to them, I would be doing a disservice to tie up their time.
This isn't meant as a serious question so it won't need deep insight into.
Zster comments on May 12, 2018:
I've always had a soft spot for tricksters, like Loki or Coyote... As a kid,I was a huge fan of Bastet, probably a cat thing. (;

How do you handle people when they ask, how can you have morals and ethics without believing in god?
Zster comments on May 11, 2018:
Ask how anyone thinks that THEY have morals when their motivation is purely selfish: for personal reward (of heaven) or to avoid fire (hell).
Do you consider yourself a Scientist??
Zster comments on May 11, 2018:
Umm... yes. I am still doing microbiology/immunology professionally. It took getting a DVM and PhD, but has been well worth it.
Pie or Cake?
Zster comments on May 11, 2018:
"The cake is a lie." Pies, for the win. There are precious few cakes that I'll even touch. OTOH, I positively adoe a pastry crust!
Taking an unscheduled day off
Zster comments on May 10, 2018:
I am up front and tell mgmt ahead, unless I am really too sick to come in. I don't use sick time for non sick time off. I figure that's a good way to bring on a bout of illness. My fortune sure seems to run that way.

Men with long hair

I am strongly drawn to long hair. Even though I am older, long hair tends to still catch my attention.
Is there any science lovers out there? Nietzsche reader? Newton's fan? Am I an endangered species?

Anyone else watching the Vikings??
Zster comments on May 9, 2018:
I love it! Just started season 5.
I have lost alot of friends since I lost my husband.
Zster comments on May 9, 2018:
My mom and I were just discussing this. Mom was widowed this January and has already been subjected to insecure wives and the inevitable loss of friends. It's awful to see. I was widowed twelve years ago. Most of my friends dropped me, but I got new. It's an awful kick in the teeth when we are already down and hurt. Sorry this is happening to you.
Great Sign.

Pronouns???
Zster comments on May 8, 2018:
I am ok w calling me by my bio sex pronoun. I struggle with the neutral pronouns "it" and "they", because I was severely taught that using those in the newer way is improper, grammatically. I wish we had a new pronoun for gender neutrality.
I don't understand why a man can't be a cat guy when it comes to pets, and not be given shit about ...
Zster comments on May 7, 2018:
Owning a cat = a HUGE plus in my book, for any gender! You might be hanging with the wrong people...
Does anyone remember Mad Cow Disaease (BSE)?

05.
Zster comments on May 6, 2018:
I am not sure that one can ever make sense of such a loss, let alone "accept" it. My husband died, not by another's hand. All of the rationalizing did not ever make that ok with me. I eventually grew sick and tired if banging my head against the proverbial wall until bloody. So, I am roughly ok with the actuality of it never being ok, that it will never make sense. I've accepted that total unexplainable bull shit happens, and happened to us. Sorry, this likely is of no help whatsoever. It's just the roundaabout way that I've personally dealt with it.
Any Beatles fan here? Which of their song do you like the most?
Zster comments on May 5, 2018:

Are you a competitive person or the opposite?
Zster comments on May 5, 2018:

Since you capitalized BOB, I thought it was an acronym, meaning "Battery Operated Boyfriend"!
Anyone else sensitive to noise?
Zster comments on May 4, 2018:
If it impacts your life quality, get it checked out. My daughter has auditory disintegration and my son has tactile. Makes them miserable if they don't manage it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensory_processing_disorder
Possibly the lamest question ever.
Zster comments on May 3, 2018:
See lots of it here. It makes it easy to leave if you can just pull straight into traffic, rather than holding it up while you back out. I figure it's a bigger gain with bulky vehicles, like trucks or SUVs. As there are LOTS of both here in the south, I'd gather that's why we see more of the backing in down here.
What do you like to drink?
Zster comments on May 3, 2018:
Fresh pressed juices, home made or artisanal sodas or infused waters, herbal, white, or rooibos teas (hot or cold), coffee.
I got a new blender.
Zster comments on May 2, 2018:
This is not MY recipe (yet. I've only made it once, which puts enough in my freezer gor 6 months). However, it's super easy, low cal, and VERY healthy. I use it as a concentrate, adding milk (vegan milks ok) or creme when I reheat it (from frozen). I then serve it hot wit a drizzle of first press olive oil AND with a dollop of sour creme on top. Quite tasty! Simple Green Soup Ingredients 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (may sub ghee or butter), additional or garnish 1/2 small white onion, finely chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 1 bunch curly kale, destemmed and roughly chopped 1 bunch collard greens, destemmed and roughly chopped 1 bunch swiss chard, destemmed and roughly chopped 1 pound fresh baby spinach leaves 1.5 quarts chicken broth (about 6 cups) 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt 2 lemons, juiced cracked black pepper, for garnish Instructions Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and saute until translucent and starting to brown. Once the onions are nicely fragrant and golden in color, add the garlic and saute for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. Once the garlic is fragrant, add all of the raw greens to the pot. Stir well and then place the lid on the pot. Let the pot steam for 5 minutes, or until the greens cook down and reduce by half in volume. Add the chicken broth, bring to a simmer, and then add the salt. Turn off the heat, add the fresh lemon juice, and then pour the soup into a large blender. Blend on high for 4 to 5 minutes, or until it is *completely* blended and smooth. Serve with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh cracked black pepper, if desired. Enjoy! by Cassy Recipe Notes The soup will keep as leftovers for up to 5 days in the refrigerator. Note that it also freezes well!
Excluding religion, what are some of the other forms of bullshit that you are growing tired of?
Zster comments on May 2, 2018:
Antivaxxers. Anti-global warming.
How long...?
Zster comments on May 2, 2018:
Ten years. I need to be romantically involved before getting sexual. I have not been partnered since becoming widowed. Previously, I got sex at least weekly, often more than that. So, it's been a very long ten years.
Ear infection.
Zster comments on May 1, 2018:
If already under a doctor's care, I would not add to the treatment myself (adding ANYthing by ear if your eardrum is not intact can be dangerous). If you've had a few doses or days of antibiotics without improvement, your bug could be resistant. I would get a message to the doc or nurse right away.
This is the front of my fridge. Anyone else got an archeological site like this?!

Is There A Singles Group Here?
Zster comments on Apr 30, 2018:
You know, it might seem obvious, but creating specific groups for "seeking relationship", "seeking hook up" etc, using the group function is actually a good idea...

So is this a dating site...or nah?
Zster comments on Apr 29, 2018:

It's hard to imagine how could a sexual desire stay forever towards one person .
Zster comments on Apr 29, 2018:

Do you find that people don't get your humor?
Zster comments on Apr 29, 2018:
Mostly family gets my humor. We readily relate to the same obscure movie lines and sarcastic blurbs. People further out don't get half of the references. Some think it makes us look clique-ish. I'm just glad that SOMEBODY gets it because it was damned funny!
Just met a person who does not like pets because they are all dirty.
Zster comments on Apr 29, 2018:

Zster comments on Apr 29, 2018:
Heck yeah! I totally envy you! JCSS is a great show, whether one believes or not! And yes, I still like prior religious stuff that I liked before disbelief set in. No need to toss out the baby with the bathwater! Lots of movies, songs, and plays are fiction. Biblical stuff can fall into that same category. (;
How do you feel about marriage?
Zster comments on Apr 29, 2018:
Not sure. I got married because family, neighbors, etc treated us disrespectfully for living together. Divorce was increasing, but not common. As a married couple, society seemed to recognize us as legit and treated us accordingly. Now, marriage is not even a commitment if one can divorce the other with no input from that other. The financial risks are tremendous. So, I am not sure there IS any counterbalancing benefit. Add in how much certain hateful groups try to dictate who can and cannot marry... makes me want to rebel by refusing ever to tie the knot again.
Bullies.
Zster comments on Apr 28, 2018:
I got bullied a lot growing up. What I've never understood is, if you've ever BEEN bullied, why would you ever turn around and do it to anyone else? I've never wanted to bully anyone. I know how painful it can be to receive it.

How important do you think our buying power is?
Zster comments on Apr 28, 2018:
Actually, I don't expect my personal boycotts to matter any more than my vote does (which is nil in the south), BUT, we've seen companies make some pretty big shifts in response when enough people vote with their $, so I keep "voting" with my purchasing decisions.

I hate it when I'm just introducing myself to someone and I mention how I am an atheist.

Ahhh... what passes for "polite" in religious society! JUST introduced, no one should be lecturing anyone, in my opinion.
This site, the members - all of us - outwardly deny the existence of deity.
Zster comments on Apr 26, 2018:
We are of like mind! I came here to get away from religion. At this site, awhile back, I set filters to skip posts about either religion or politics. After about a week of no posts coming to my attention, I removed the filters. I deduced much what you did, that those newly out of religion have to talk it out of their system or something.
