Why have mammals got 2 testicels instead of 1  or 3 ?
birdingnut comments on May 8, 2018:
And two eyes, two nostrils, etc., but of course not all animals have two testicles..carabid beetles only have one testicle, for instance. And not all creatures have bilateral symmetry either; many have radial symmetry, and sponges are asymmetrical.
birdingnut replies on May 8, 2018:
@VAL3941 I assume it's because it makes for the most efficient locomotion. If something is lopsided, it will tend to go in circles. Also, it makes it simpler for the brain to manage all the neurological connections. Furthermore, evolution has hard-wired most bilaterally symmetrical animals to choose mates with highest degree of symmetry, since any deviation usually indicates DNA flaws. This is also true of humans also. When hundreds of photos of faces of women are combined into a single photo, the face appears to be beautiful. When newborn babies are shown photos of a beautiful face, several plain faces, and the face of the babies' mother, the babies invariably stare the longest at the beautiful face.

birdingnut replies on May 5, 2018:
LOL! I know..most people here are unfamiliar with gender issues, believing humans to be the religious binary of "male" and "female." However all people are on a gender/sexual orientation/gender identity spectrum, with percentages, instead of absolutes. In my case, I'm about 60% male in traits (studies show male traits to be mainly on the right brain hemisphere, and female traits mostly on the left) and a partial transmale (that means I see myself as male). I used to be gender fluid, switching back and forth between male and female personalities/perspectives, and not remembering what I did while in the opposite gender modes. Luckily I stumbled across derris scandens, a Thai herb that blends my gender modes so that I can live peacefully as an androgyne (mixed gender) with both sides always aware of each other. Most of the people on this forum are androgyne, although they aren't aware of it, since most high IQ creative people are androgyne. A person who is androgyne isn't necessarily transgender..they still identify with their birth gender, but have mixed gender traits.

What do people in this forum think about "bad" words?
smox comments on May 5, 2018:
I don't really give a shit about using most bad words as long as they aren't directed at other people with the intention to be hurtful or abusive (e.g. gay or racial slurs or abusive language like "fuck you, asshole"). ..But if I stub my toe, "god fucking damn it, you asshole sidewalk"
birdingnut replies on May 5, 2018:
Exactly, except that in Thailand I try to limit my cussing to French, Creole, and Spanish. Once I gave an expletive in French and someone nearby translated it, so now I try to only use Creole, although now I sometimes use Thai cuss words as automatic reflex.

birdingnut replies on May 3, 2018:
@Dingodog Yes, that is a problem in Asia and Australia and Tasmania..they actively kill birds. In Asia they eat them, and in Australia they poison and shoot them to protect their crops. The best country to see undisturbed wildlife is Mexico, since the culture doesn't acknowledge them as important enough to even name the species. They simply don't "see" them. Mexican people ignore the birds and wildlife because to them, they "don't matter." I once asked a Mexican what a particular bird species was called in Spanish, and she glanced at the bird in surprise, shrugged and said "Pajaro (bird)." I got the same response in Tasmania when I asked about a species of lapwing. It was a "bird."

birdingnut replies on May 2, 2018:
I'm physically attractive, but it's what I'm like mentally that is challenging. I'm a partial transmale, live as an androgynous female, and a demisexual, so I'm also incredibly incompatible with most. I am attracted to all genders and variations, but not sexually, so I'm not even sure of my "true" sexual orientation, if any. I've already found out that I'm too independent to date women, and too male-ish to date most men. I suppose a gender blend might work, but that's what my ex was..he had such strong female traits that he was dangerously jealous of my attention and kept taking revenge on me for liking my job.

Men tend to ignore profiles and respond to the photos and appearance only, but the first thing most women do is read the profile and go through the profile questions to see how you believe and your lifestyle. YOU are the one expected to private message women who interest you, unless you are a highly feminine male who prefers an aggressive masculine woman to chase YOU. I sure am a male-ish female who will pursue a female crush, but my female side likes to be pursued.

birdingnut replies on Apr 28, 2018:
@Rugglesby Physical appearance has little to do with it. I'm a tiny, pretty, feminine senior woman, but in reality I'm more male in hard-wired behavior traits than female, and few men can keep up with me on steep hiking trails. I can outdo them at most things, from shooting to training horses. Studies show that male traits tend to be on the right hemisphere of the brain, and female traits on the left side, with each side a different gender personality. With most androgynes (people with mixed gender traits), these brain hemisphere sides communicate, and the personality is blended, but occasionally, as when people are gender fluid, the personalities can be experienced separately. I was gender fluid and suffered extreme dysphoria (discomfort from resembling a female while feeling "male" ) until I started taking derris scandens for back pain and discovered it not only stopped dyslexia symptoms, it blended my two gender modes into one.

birdingnut replies on Apr 28, 2018:
@memorylikeasieve (sigh) I hate having keep to educating people on gender issues on this forum, so I'm saving this to post as needed. There is no "real female." Humans are all on gender spectrums for gender traits, sexual orientation, and gender identity. In a study in 2014 where anonymity was guaranteed, 85% of people admitted occasional same sex attraction by percentage. In another study where men and women were shown porn while cameras watched their pupils and other physical signs, women responded sexually to porn with ALL genders and gender mixes shown. Men, however had three groups; gay men who only responded to men, bi men who responded to both genders and hetero men who responded only to women. One study showed that even the most "girlie" females only had about 80% of female traits, but they were most likely to produce offspring. However, people in the extreme ends of the gender spectrum..the most "macho" men and most "femme" females had the lowest IQs. The average IQs rose as the gender sliding scale moved toward the middle, possibly because other gender studies show that male traits tend to be on the right hemisphere of the brain, while female traits are mostly on the left. That gives androgyne people more of the use of both brain hemispheres. I am gender fluid and used to move between both gender orientations and points of view, which were radically different. I now take derris scandens, a Thai herb that somehow blends my gender sides so I now live as an androgyne female. Most creative high IQ people are androgyne..mixed gender, even if they don't realize it. After all, my mom and sisters are more male in behavior and looks than I am, yet all identify fully as females, while I am partially transmale. If you troll me, I will block you. You should have made different options for “liberal” and “extreme liberal”. I’m a liberal but I have a lot of conservative values. I don’t think safe spaces are healthy and I haven’t been convinced that a man who feels like a woman is a woman or vice versa.
birdingnut replies on Apr 25, 2018:
@BeOPSVMo (sigh) You really must learn that not all people see things through your own gender lens. You sound possibly nonbinary or at least androgyne. Apparently you don't have dysphoria, but are a contented androgyne as I am, accepting both your gender sides. Most high IQ people are also androgyne, I assume because they have access to both sides of the brain, since studies show male traits are mostly on the right hemisphere of the brain, and female traits on the left. Having access to both is an advantage in intelligence. However, before I stumbled across derris scandens, a Thai herb used as a muscle relaxer which cured my dysphoria and blended the perspectives of both gender sides, I was gender fluid-moving back and forth between male and female gender perspectives, with one side resentful of, and hating, the other gender side. It was almost enough to drive me to start taking male hormones to stop the panic attacks, depression and horror at the sight of my female body in the mirror. Gender dysphoria can drive people to suicide. I'm not sure how much societal and personal acceptance counts, since I felt this way in Thailand, where transgender people are common, and accepted in Thai Buddhism. I didn't even know I was partially transmale until 2014, when a transwoman friend from high school outed me to myself.

birdingnut replies on Apr 25, 2018:
@Scoobs There are rules and fees involved in starting Thai businesses by foreigners. I don't know the current ones, but they used to have to have the business in the name of a Thai person and foreigners aren't allowed to have jobs that Thai people could fill. That's GOOD. I want Thailand to stay Thailand. Americans tend to swarm like cockroaches, turning the world into strip malls for profit, trashing the local environments. I hope they also keep them out of Cuba. Some birds thought extinct still survive there because Castro protected virgin forest. Many Americans would burn the last tree for profit.
