HORSEBACK WRESTLING.
birdingnut comments on Sep 16, 2018:
Like I keep saying you have to have a** subscription** to see the NYT. Please don't post links from them, since I have to then type the title into google search and find a similar article to read about it. "Kok Boru is by far the most outstanding and revered sport at the World Nomad Games. Similar to polo, this game involves two teams competing to throw an object into a round goal at each end of the field. The object: The headless carcass of a goat. Known as Buzkashi in Afghanistan (the national sport there), Kok Boru is also the most controversial due to the rough use of a dead animal. But this game has been played for centuries, and the goat is awarded to the winning team to be cooked up in a feast, so nothing goes to waste." **** Link: The Ultimate Guide To The World Nomad Games In Kyrgyzstan https://www.nomadasaurus.com/ultimate-guide-world-nomad-games-in-kyrgyzstan/

Briggs-Meyer test
birdingnut comments on Sep 16, 2018:
"Vox's Joseph Stromberg says one of the key flaws to the test is that it relies on "limited binaries". Most humans, he says, fall along a spectrum and are not easily classified into opposite choices. People aren't exclusively extroverts or introverts - and where they fall on the spectrum can fluctuate widely based on how they are feeling at the moment. Most psychologists have long since abandoned Myers-Briggs, if they ever gave it any credence at all, Stromberg continues. Instead, he says, Myers-Briggs lives on as a revenue generator for CPP, the company that owns the rights to the test. It makes an estimated $20m (£11.6m) a year by charging people $15 to $40 to take the survey and certifying test administrators for $1,700." birdingnut comments on Sep 16, 2018:
It's a life saver for certain people on the autism spectrum, with ptsd, or other issues. I take herbs to ease anxiety, but I can see how people who fear taking any herbs or drugs might benefit from having a comfort animal. No reason why that animal can't be a small, portable one, though. Not some giant dog, miniature horse, or goat, etc.

That's for sure. By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it. For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them. You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you. Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt. If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match. Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests.. In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters. Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also. Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial. N Defense secretary Jim Mattis has been careful to not criticize Donald J.
birdingnut comments on Sep 16, 2018:
Jim Mattis has been trying to put the brakes on some of Trump's more heinous policies. "White House officials said Mattis had balked at a number of Trump’s requests. That included initially slow-walking the president’s order to ban transgender troops from the military and refusing a White House demand to stop family members from accompanying troops deploying to South Korea. The Pentagon worried that doing so could have been seen by North Korea as a precursor to war." Over the last four months alone, the president and the defense chief have found themselves at odds over NATO policy, whether to resume large-scale military exercises with South Korea and, privately, whether Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Iran nuclear deal has proved effective. I got my flu shot yesterday.
birdingnut comments on Sep 16, 2018:
Even the most hyped estimates of the efficacy and effectiveness of flu vaccines revealed that they are barely effective for stopping seasonal flu. In a 2011 study published in the journal, The Lancet, the authors analyzed 31 past studies investigating the effectiveness of flu vaccines only to find out that these vaccines are only effective 67% of the time. Studies also show that the elderly, who are most vulnerable to flu, benefit the least from flu vaccines. Most independent studies agree that flu vaccines are barely effective. Strangely, the results of most clinical trials investigating their efficacies are never published or riddled with useless data. Meanwhile, discerning doctors and scientists continue to refuse getting vaccinated with flu shots even while they endorse the “party line” for everyone to get vaccinated. Even the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) clearly states that flu vaccines are only effective if the strains they carry are the same ones in circulation in a particular year. What are the odds of that? Let’s do the math. To make the trivalent or even the new quadrivalent (against 4 influenza viruses) flu vaccine for the year, the CDC selects 2 – 3 strains of influenza A virus out of more than 250 identified strains and 1 – 2 stains of influenza B viruses from about 100 identified strains. Strains of Influenza C virus are not considered. This selection (and what are the selection criteria?) means that there is a 1 in 10,000 chance that the seasonal flu shot you are receiving will provide an effective coverage for that year. Link: http://www.progressivehealth.com/which-is-worse-the-flu-or-the-shot.htm By the way, I used to get severe flu every winter so bad it would go into what resembled pneumonia, but when I dumped red meat, white flour, white sugar, and most processed food when I was in my mid 20s, I never got flu again. EVER. I didn't even get colds or infections any more...even into old age.

birdingnut comments on Sep 16, 2018:
I've not had to worry about celebrating Christmas since I moved to Thailand in 2010, since they don't celebrate it, but they do celebrate New Year for several months-the regular one, the Chinese one, and the Thai New Year in April, which involves the entire country participating in a water fight in the hottest month of the year! But years before I decided for sure I'm agnostic, I'd already started sending Christmas e-cards that said "Happy Holidays" and combined Christmas and New Years. I put up a tree, and set out a creche, but didn't like it, and kept reducing the decorations and things I was willing to do. I DID love my tradition of seeing The Nutcracker Suite ballet every year..whatta thrill!

Has anyone any theories as to what is happening with the solar observatories?
birdingnut comments on Sep 15, 2018:
Sure. According to numerous secret government whistle-blowers, astronauts, NSA officials, etc. (also, see the documentary "unacknowledged," on Netflix or YouTube), our government has been in unholy cahoots with the alien race, the "Reptilians," since they made a deal with them after WW ll, when before, they'd been working with the Germans. Supposedly, the deal is, we get the technology, but the government keeps a lock down on it so they won't have to share it, or take the blame for selling out the earth to aliens, who they allow to kidnap and harvest fetuses, tissues, etc from humans, then wipe their memories. I've seen 100s of UFOs, usually with witnesses, sometimes even crowds of my friends, and my ex and my car was followed by a curious UFO in the early 1970s for over 300 miles. It kept frisking around us, changing colors, once stalled our old 1957 Chevy Bel Air by hovering too close, and kept dashing off to run around housing divisions we were passing on the interstate, then come back to us again. It would change colors, grow bright as a small sun, go dark, or flash colors around the rim like a courting squid. I'm guessing it was about 30 feet across, and disc shaped with lights that resembled windows around the rim - totally silent. It left us when we passed a big military base in GA, I think, hovered over it for a minute, then rose into the sky rapidly, seemed to tilt, then shrink away so fast it soon vanished. I saw an obviously man-made craft the size of a small house over my farm in 1999, when out in the yard star gazing with a new date, so I know our government is up to no good, and not telling either.

That wild bottlenose dolphins can teach each other to moon walk, even though it's only a fad with them. In 1988 a rescued Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops aduncus), Billie, stayed at a nearby dolphinarium in southern Australia for several weeks where it observed captive dolphins tail-walking for shows. It learned to do the same, on its own, and after release, researchers noticed that other wild Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins in Billie's pod began tail walking too, resembling Michael Jackson moonwalkers. But after the main tail walkers died, the behavior began disappearing from the wild pod, so it was only a passing fad!

The US should be like Finland. There are no mandated standardized tests in Finland, apart from one exam at the end of students’ senior year in high school. There are no rankings, no comparisons or competition between students, schools or regions. The people running the schools, from national officials to local authorities, are educators, not business people, military leaders or career politicians. Ninety-three percent of Finns graduate from academic or vocational high schools, 17.5 percentage points higher than the US, and 66 percent go on to higher education, the highest rate in the European Union. Yet Finland spends about 30 percent less per student than the United States. Finland’s teachers are selected from the top 10 percent of the nation’s graduates to earn a required master’s degree in education. Many schools are small enough that teachers know every student. If one method fails, teachers consult with colleagues to try something else. In some schools more than half of the elementary-level students are immigrants—from Somalia, Iraq, Russia, Bangladesh, Estonia and Ethiopia, among other nations-yet all succeed. Free of EU competition rules, Gove could use the lever of government procurement to favour healthy British food. He could adopt a joined-up policy and target subsidies to increase production of more fruit and vegetables, less sugar and intensive meat production. He could insist that continued access to foreign labour is tied to the industry, improving what are often appalling working conditions and pay so British workers are drawn back to jobs they now shun. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jun/26/brexit-watershed-farming-food-industry-michael-gove

birdingnut comments on Sep 15, 2018:
Hi, Ben, and welcome to the website! I dunno..I suppose just do as I do; nod and murmur, "Um-hum..that's nice," then walk away whenever anyone brings up religion. Only look at people and pay attention to them when they are speaking on neutral subjects; this quickly trains them to avoid religion when talking to you. If they invite you to church, just nod and smile, then walk away. Don't argue. Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].

birdingnut comments on Sep 14, 2018:
It's difficult for me to see "death" as something real. I was born remembering a past life, and used to constantly return to the eternal place between reincarnations to play with my friends when I was a toddler, and growing up. I also would sometimes leave my body and go up through the ceiling to that place, for the same reason. To me, that world was as valid as my current one, and all my life I've had trouble staying in this time line and not seeing the future. I also had to learn early to block my mind so I wouldn't read other people's thoughts and emotions-mostly depressing- although I did connect more freely with animals and plants. Also I don't have to throw up mental barriers with the Thai, since they do so much meditation and are mind-readers themselves. Einstein taught us that all matter is a form of energy, so since energy can neither be created nor destroyed, we have always existed and will always exist in some energy form, and all energy is connected. No reason to think energy souls don't exist, and quantum physics already tells us different dimensions exist. "For physicists, the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion." -Einstein

No reason to suffer. I started getting painful, stiff joints, heart palpations, and terrible flus and ear infections when I was in my mid 20s. I stopped eating all red meat, white flour, and white sugar, most processed food, switching to organic, natural produce; legumes, greens, sprouts, fish, whole wheat or whole buckwheat flour, fruit, and vegetables. After a few weeks of hacking up mucus as I went through detox, I had a surge of strength that doubled my stamina and speed, and all flus, colds, and infections stopped, never to return-even in my old age, and my joints returned to normal.

birdingnut comments on Sep 14, 2018:
I quit using the public library years before I moved to Thailand in 2010, preferring to read books on Kindle instead of having to special order books I wanted to read, driving 12 miles to the local library in my SUV, paying $$ for gas, then having to return the books, trying to avoid hefty special order fees if I missed the deadline. But that also means I had to pay for the Kindle books - something I didn't mind doing, for books I would read repeatedly, but took a loss if the book was disappointing. Luckily, most of the books I bought I'm still re-reading today, since I had already read the books I ordered and wanted to re-read them already. Of course, now I can read new Amazon Kindle books for free if I buy a Kindle reader, but I can't get one here in Thailand.
Truthfully, this site makes me feel like i am at a buffet.

My high school career was only for three years since I was so advanced; freshman year in the tiny mission school at Cap Haitian, Haiti, one year in the US near Lexington, KY, and one at Union School. But I couldn't have attended the Union School reunion anyway, since I'm still living in Thailand, recovering from intestinal cancer using cannabis oil, and I'm no longer the devout MK (missionary kid) everyone knew in school. My childhood MK school friends are now mostly proud white supremacist Trumpites, and I don't even WANT to see them, since I defriended most of them for posting racist, homophobic hate memes on Facebook.

The most cooking I do in my kitchen-less apartment here in Songkhla, Thailand, is to soft boil an egg for lunch in a stainless steel coffee pot, then scoop the egg out of the shell, smash it with a fork, and crumble fish rind chips into it. Mmmmmm. I am recovering from intestinal cancer, using cannabis oil, and live alone. I have to eat what my body allows and what improves my symptoms. Luckily, these listed foods don't exacerbate my condition, as my health is improving. For a while there, I could barely eat anything at all. I also steam heat "kowtomat" rolls I buy ten at a time from a nearby Thai street vendor, and keep frozen in the apartment building office fridge. The rolls are made of sticky rice, wrapped around a core of minced fruit and a few black beans, wrapped in banana leaves, and roasted. I put a frozen roll in a little bag I sewed from a piece of coarse cloth, and hook it over the coffee pot lid with a string handle on the bag so that it hangs inside the pot, just under the lid. I put a little water in the pot, hit the "on" switch until steam starts coming out, then turn it off. I do this a few times, letting the bag hang in the steam for a while while I watch Netflix. That restores the kowtomat roll to its original texture and flavor. My other food isn't something I cook. I eat a single-serving can of spicy Thai sardines, and a bowl of a small handful raw cashews mixed with local unsweetened raisins and dark chocolate chips.
