Hi, Declan, and welcome to the website! By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it. For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them. You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you. Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt. If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match. Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests.. In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters. Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also. Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial. Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].

I loaded the laptop into a bag and trudged seven blocks back to the Tesco-Lotus computer shop this morning, telling the "chang" computer guy that my photos were missing. He consulted another tech guy and they finally recovered them..not sure if they're all there, but at least a bunch of them appeared. They didn't get what I was talking about when I said I couldn't access my gmail and other original accounts and seemed to think all I had to do was to just open new accounts, and that was fine. Then they advised I find a US friend hacker and find a way to access the original gmail account. Sounds good..whenever I tried to get into my original gmail account, the Thai gmail website kept asking me the same secret question..who was my first teacher. It was my MOM, but no matter how I entered her name, a message came up saying that the answer was "wrong." There has to be a way to access the rest of my secret security questions, since the Thai website just kept me going in circles all night.

We are our own gods, so I believe in myself. Physics indicates that we are participating in creating our own universes/reality. “Consciousness is fundamental, and matter is derived from consciousness." – Max Planck, theoretical physicist who originated quantum theory, 1918 Nobel Prize in Physics Quote: “A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality. Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction. Pioneering physicist Sir James Jeans wrote: “The stream of knowledge is heading toward a non-mechanical reality; the universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter, we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter. Get over it, and accept the inarguable conclusion. The universe is immaterial-mental and spiritual.” – R.C. Henry, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University , “The Mental Universe” ; Nature

Women are instinctively attracted to men with a high level of male hormones, since they're more fertile than the nerdy types. But the dilemma is that the nerdy ones make more money, so studies show that when a certain percentage of women start to become fertile, they first have a lot of sex with their husbands, but don't have an orgasm, which increases the likelihood of pregnancy, then at the peak of their fertility, "accidentally" have casual sex with the sexy gardener or personal trainer who has the superior sperm count. They aren't even aware they're doing it, or why, seeing it as "just happening." But our bodies only have ONE agenda..to get us knocked up. Multiple studies show that birds do the same thing, with females taking mates from the males with the most territory, but sneaking off before dawn to do a bit of side loving to hedge their genetic bets with younger, untried males.

Awesome! I love Shakespeare's sonnet 18, to a "fair youth"..apparently Shakespeare was bisexual. I like how he says that the handsome youth's looks may fade, and he will eventually die, but the young man's beauty is eternal because of the sonnet. This sonnet was also used in the movie "Clueless," where Cher wrote several lines from the poem in a note, explaining where she got the lines by saying, "Duh! It's a famous quote!" Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer’s lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed: But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st; Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st: So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee

Sounds revolting. I've not missed family reunions at ALL since I moved to Thailand in 2010. I used to dread them, but now that three of my siblings have outed themselves as devout Trumpites, I defriended them and have stopped contacting them. Only one sibling left and she recently became all preachy and critical when I mentioned that I'm now agnostic, even though she doesn't attend church and has always seemed liberal. I just laughed and said I wouldn't judge her for what she believed. But I have distanced myself anyway.
Let's say someone has wronged you.
birdingnut comments on Sep 4, 2018:
It depends. If it's a religious or alt-right person, I simply block and delete them, then never contact them again. If it's some random person in a crowd or a casual work friend, I ignore them..completely- from then on. If it's a romantic partner I calmly confront them, and if the response is negative, or if the behavior is repeated, I become too busy to be around them or to pay attention to them anymore. If they continue disrespectful behavior, I tell them that "things aren't working out," and ask them to leave. If they delay, I throw their stuff on the lawn and change the locks.

Of course! Einstein taught us that all matter is a form of energy, so since energy can neither be created nor destroyed, we have always existed and will always exist in some energy form. No reason to think energy souls or entities don't exist, and quantum physics already tells us different dimensions exist. "For physicists, the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion." -Einstein Besides, physics indicates that we are participating in creating our own universes/reality. “Consciousness is fundamental, and matter is derived from consciousness." – Max Planck, theoretical physicist who originated quantum theory, 1918 Nobel Prize in Physics “It was not possible to formulate the laws of quantum mechanics in a fully consistent way without reference to consciousness.” Eugene Wigner, theoretical physicist and mathematician. He received a share of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963 Quote: “A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality.

ALL Christians are potentially misogynistic because that's what the Bible teaches..women were property, second class, servants to men. Even in the New Testament women were told to stay at home, have children, be silent, and obey their husbands.

Hello all.
birdingnut comments on Sep 4, 2018:
Yes, it's sad. Luckily, the upcoming Millinnial generation is starting to vote and they're much less religious than their parents. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at https://agnostic.com/groups/rooms.

birdingnut comments on Sep 3, 2018:
Yes, I meditate all the time. What works best for me is to get comfortable somewhere, or just get quiet while walking outside, and focus on the ambient noise..distant traffic, bird calls, a lawn mower, etc. Then I allow my brain to go out of focus while concentrating on the sounds. I know it worked if I find myself "waking up" a while later, with no sensation of the passing of time. Doing this allows me to access my subconscious mind, which remembers everything I've experienced, and soon afterward I'll start coming across solutions to problems and/or having opportunities drop into my lap.
