@Orangepeels LOL! I had forgotten that, since I have never paid any attention to religious holidays..probably more from being dyslexic and partially transmale than skepticism. Celebrations and official holidays annoyed me because people celebrate most holidays by eating, and I had to buy the groceries, cook the food, and entertain relatives...which I GREATLY resented. The dyslexia makes me not notice, or remember, numbers/dates.

@valentine4real Oh, I don't doubt those healing stories, because I've witnessed it many times myself, know the people who were healed so I knew it wasn't fake, and have even done it myself. However, I thought it happened because I used "Jesus' name" and that it was "god's power" but now I see that anyone can do that. In fact the Bible verse where Jesus said that "whosoever" tells a mountain to throw itself into the sea, if they believe, it will obey them, it will (Mark 11:23) uses a pronoun that is all inclusive..if anyone or anyTHING tells the mountain, and the word translated "believe" also means both consciously and SUBconsciously.
Why do theists believe in their book without reading every book?
birdingnut comments on Mar 31, 2018:
They don't even read their own Bible, much less any other book.
birdingnut replies on Apr 1, 2018:
@GeorgeBedford I began reading through the entire Bible when I was eight, even though my missionary parents weren't particularly religious, being United Methodists. I read it so many times I almost had it memorized. After I began reading it in the original Hebrew and Greek, I realized that 99% of what I'd been taught in church wasn't in the Bible anyway. I felt relieved when I read the Sumerian texts and saw that the Bible was copied from them.

Women, especially feel it's rude to come out and say something, believing men will pick up on their subtle hints, as they would do. But men don't. I'm as clueless as cis males, however, and usually advise people to spell things out for me.
birdingnut replies on Apr 1, 2018:
@Crimson67 Masculine women are like men that way. I'm highly masculine, so need things to be spelled out. By "women" I meant cis, hetero women, heavy in female traits. Since high IQ creative people are mostly androgynous (mixed gender traits) and atheists have higher than average IQs, a high percentage of agnostic members are androgynous.

Except that, for years, my daughter and I ghosted to nearby cities in minutes, and my dad even screamed at me once when I called him from my sister's house in Louisville then 20 minutes later I pulled into the driveway, at our farm near Morehead, KY. My dad said I'd have to have traveled at over 120 mph to be back already. I said I'd also stopped for gas. My husband was with me with several of the teleportations in the car, so I have a witness to that one also. birdingnut replies on Mar 29, 2018:
@RavenCT Most of the toothpaste on the market contains fluoride and/or glycerin. Fluoride is a toxic substance, linked to numerous health problems, including hormonal imbalances and hip fractures. While many dentists will claim it helps prevent cavities, it actually causes more problems. Fluoride makes the bones and teeth more brittle, which leads to fractures and weak enamel of the teeth. It can also cause fluorosis, which is a discoloration of the tooth enamel. Glycerin is another common ingredient in toothpaste, and it can also cause dental health issues. Glycerin can be made from lard, corn or biodiesel processing. Which type of glycerin is in your toothpaste depends on who manufactured it. Glycerin is an oily substance that attracts moisture. Glycerin will leave a film over the teeth, which could prevent the teeth from becoming harder or stronger. It is also a highly sweetened liquid, which could be harmful to the body. Other ingredients in toothpaste, such as hydrated silica, are abrasive and can wear down tooth enamel.

@BeeHappy Yes, most creative, high IQ people are androgyne..with mixed gender traits. Since atheists average higher IQs than the general population, most people here are probably in that category. You do realize we are on a gender spectrum..the people are the far ends of the spectrum..the most most macho males and femme females, are the most successful at procreating. But statistically, they have the lowest IQs. The more the gender marker slides toward the middle of the spectrum..closer to being androgynous, the (statistically) higher the IQ, but usually these people are so busy pursuing careers, etc., that procreating is lower in their priorities. Highly talented directors, actors, writers, artists, etc. often don't sustain long term relationships.

birdingnut replies on Mar 24, 2018:
LOL! You are talking like a typical male heavy in female traits, who doesn't understand that gender isn't some "box," but a spectrum. Females are the choosy, picky ones, selecting the best male for her, that will bring the most to the table. Males are the pursuers. You might want to rethink your (very female) idea that a romantic partner must change for you. Most women won't give you a second chance if you mess up even once. Men are the beggars, and women are the choosers. You make us happy, or you're out. Only heavily male women act like men and become besotted with partners, allowing them to lead. Studies show that males and females at the far end of the gender trait spectrum..the most macho males and the most femme females, are the most successful at producing progeny. But they also, statistically, have the lowest IQs. The creative high IQ people are mostly androgyne..mixed gender traits. However these people seldom are able to have successful long term reationships because the men don't have the male instincts to obey women. When psychologist John Gottman, a famous marriage researcher, and his colleagues followed 130 newlywed couples for six years to find what marriages succeeded and why, turns out, happy, stable marriages had one thing in common: The husband was willing to accept his wife's influence. In contrast, when husbands responded to their wives' complaints by stonewalling or belittling them, the marriage was almost sure to fail: More than four-fifths of those relationships — 81 percent — fell apart.

I thwarted him by speed-reading those text pages, thus giving me photographic memory of them. During the test I worked hard to unravel the backward question logic, i.e. which learning theories weren't used to prove this premise in 1987, etc. In the end, I was the only one who got 100% correct on the test, but the rest of the class didn't get above 50% and he had to have a double Bell Curve for anyone to pass. The students were furious with him, he was embarrassed, and he stopped harassing me. A couple of years later I was in the building to pick up some papers and this prof rushed out to introduce me to a couple of his friends as though I were a celebrity, saying, "Here's the one I was telling about!" and they looked at me in awe.

How about the woman who reported being RAPED by Bill when he was still AK governor? Next, you'll say you didn't "read" about it so it didn't happen, You're as bad as a Trumpite.
Have you ever cheated on an exam? Do you think cheating in a test is moral?
birdingnut comments on Mar 23, 2018:
I don't believe in exams or tests. I think the public school system is destructive, and purposely ineffective, to make more obedient factory workers. Studies show that in classes with only five students to a teacher, for only two hours a day, students were able to advance an entire grade every ...

@marmot84 LOL! That's because you're thinking in a public school box. In experimental schools I've taught in, students do self-directed work, much as my kids did while being home schooled, and what we mission kids did in Haiti growing up. When kids are allowed to work at their own speed, not held back by the rest of the class they can zip through an entire grade in no time. In one school, even middle school kids were allowed to take college classes and they did perfectly well, as my kids did also. When I was in 8th grade, I tested at a junior in college level in the college tests. My kids both tested able to enter teacher school when they were ten, according the college tests they took.

Retirement visa perminent & how bout health care.. Retirement visa have to leave the country often.
birdingnut replies on Mar 23, 2018:
No need for it, although they have universal health care here for people who work in Thailand. I mean the health care prices are so ridiculously low they are far below any US deductible, and all the doctors are given the same medical training as US doctors. Right now some people in the government are trying to get cannabis legal here, since it grows wild here and people already (illegally) use it to cure cancer and other problems.

How bout the humidity & mosquitoes...
birdingnut replies on Mar 23, 2018:
Are you talking to me? I live on a peninsula, with the ocean on two sides and Songkha Lake on the other, with an cross sea breeze..no mosquitoes. It's usually about 84 degrees and sunny..perfect weather, and if there's humidity I can't tell.
What gets you creativity flowing? And what do you create?

@Leon Well, I am on one medicinal oil right now you might like. Might be non-legal where you live, however. CBD oil works almost as well, I read.
Most attractive actor/actress? Or other well known face.

Males: Chris Hemsworth, in Ghostbusters only. Females: Yvonne Strahovski Androgynous: Katherine Moennig, in Ray Donovan more than The L Word.
birdingnut replies on Mar 23, 2018:
@Akfishlady Yvonne was the secret agent love interest in the Chuck series. Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, the Marvel Comics superhero, but I don't like the muscle bulk he puts on for those movies, plus he's not funny in them. I've have a super crush on Katherine, since The L Word series, but I like her even more in Ray Donovan.

@Akfishlady Christ Hemsworth as he appeared in Ghostbusters (in the movie the glasses frames were empty-he told his female employer he bought them to look "smart."), Yvonne as she appears now, and Katherine, as she appears in the Ray Donovan series.
