I’m new, anyone wanna talk?
birdingnut comments on Aug 6, 2018:
Hi, Bridge, and welcome to the website. By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve. For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them. You can improve your website score in general by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you. Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt. If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match. Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others who are compatible with them. In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters. Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also. Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial. Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at https://agnostic.com/groups/rooms.
Are other parents on this app raising atheist children in a very religious state?
birdingnut comments on Aug 6, 2018:
Forcing your children to "love" others is a Christian concept and one I deeply resented when growing up in a religious family. Nobody has a right to dictate your feelings. Instead, teach them to just be respectful of others, and how to react when confronted. My own highly effective solution is to ignore religious wing nuts, or look bored, mumble "Um-hum" in a distracted manner, then look at my watch and LEAVE when someone starts in on me. If you don't give them any attention when they talk religion, they soon give up. Nobody enjoys being ignored. Only smile and look at them when they speak on neutral subjects and are showing respect and kindness. This behaviorist technique quickly trains people to treat you right.
I have broken no contact with my ex.
birdingnut comments on Aug 6, 2018:
First of all, break off ALL contact with your ex. Delete and block him from ALL your social media. If anyone asks about him, say "It didn't work out." Then get busy making other arrangements for your life. I googled shelters for abused women in your area..here's a link to a list of shelters near you: https://www.homelessshelterdirectory.org/cgi-bin/id/city.cgi?city=Annapolis=MD

I've not tried watching it yet because I have no use for Breaking Bad. I think all drugs should be decriminalized, which would wipe out the drug trafficking trade, so the premise seems silly to me. But I loved watching Ray Donavon, so I might watch a couple of episodes.

This is a major rant about men not reading profiles.
birdingnut comments on Aug 4, 2018:
I learned to stop arguing with moron men who won't read profiles and hit the "block" button the instant a man who messages me asks me about something that is clearly stated on my profile. I also go to their profiles and read their answers to the profile questions, and if they indicate any belief in god, I also block them. But I have so many other stipulations, including a dating prospect being my age, that I can usually eliminate them just from their ages.
Why did you join this website?

Working as a waitress at a breakfast franchise in 1972. The tables were filled with people ordering food together then demanding separate bills for various people. I switched to being a waitress at a pizza place and got much better tips, without the hassle. In those days, younger women didn't wear bras, so I learned not to hurry too much or I had the full attention of all the men in the place.

What type of music does everyone listen to?
birdingnut comments on Aug 4, 2018:
Here in Thailand I've become a fan of K-pop, Thai pop, and Japanese pop, and I can listen to streaming music in any genre I choose on accuradio.com. I also love bluegrass, jazz, rock, pop, classical music, rap, rock, R&B, Cuban, African, Caribbean, Latin pop, ethnic music, and some folk.
So, I don't want to make this too long, but I gotta let this all out.

birdingnut comments on Aug 3, 2018:
I discovered that I recognize people by voice, even though I have trouble recognizing the faces of white people. I can identify movie star voices in films where they are in costume and can't be recognized by sight. I locate birds and wildlife by ear also. I can walk in the woods in almost total darkness and identify animals by sound and scent. Everywhere I go, I am aware of all the bird species around me and can instantly pinpoint a strange bird in the seeming jumble of sound, even if I'm not aware I'm even paying attention. I can blend into the woods and become invisible to deer and other wild animals. I have even walked into the middle of napping white tail deer herds bedded down in the woods, and left again without being detected. I deduct points from my personal score if I'm ever detected.
I would like support from anyone who feels the inclination.

Hi, Mical, and welcome to the website. By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve. For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them. You can improve your website score in general by uploading a clear, recent photo of your face, answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at https://agnostic.com/groups/rooms.

birdingnut comments on Aug 1, 2018:
Dogs sweat through their paws and through their mouths, not their skin. Their fur actually insulates them from heat. If they are hot, they seek shade and drink water. They are in the most danger of overheating in early fall when dog owners think it's OK to suddenly start exercising their dogs heavily, without giving them a chance to cool down.

I've lived long enough to learn my lesson. I don't believe in surprise parties, or springing things on people that might not be wanted. A few times, that was done to me, and I wasn't happy about it at all. I also don't believe in putting out giant efforts and expense for parties. I can see a spontaneous picnic at the beach or lake with close friends, or ordering in a couple of pizzas, but NO WAY am I going to put out any effort and I certainly wouldn't allow a big party in my house. If someone wants a big party, they can host it themselves, and everyone can contribute food and drinks. I got married at the beach at a destination wedding with a few close friends and we ate by the ocean at nearby restaurant afterward, then the rest took off kayaking. I grabbed my camera and went birding afterward on a small island.
When did you first question the existence of God?
birdingnut comments on Aug 1, 2018:
Even when I was little I noticed, to my chagrin, that I got everything I prayed for, good or bad. Often, after I got something, I didn't even want it. I wondered about that, since supposedly "god" was answering and would only give me "good" things. I also noticed that I was getting things I just thought about wanting..without even praying. Then I noticed that the great warm presence I felt in my life, that told me what was going to happen and what to do wasn't making judgement calls, or calling anything I wanted "evil," even when it contradicted what I'd been taught in church. I finally asked the presence I'd always assumed was god, "Are you God, or are you me, " and the answer was "Yes." So, I knew I was god. I had been making everything happen by deciding it, as quantum mechanics says..nothing exists that wasn't imagined first. So, physics indicates that we are participating in creating our own universes/reality. “I regard consciousness as fundamental and matter as derivative from consciousness." – Max Planck, theoretical physicist who originated quantum theory, 1918 Nobel Prize in Physics

That was what I found as well. If you meet someone randomly, you often don't know anything about them, and they can lie. Online, I can google their backgrounds first, ask a few questions and check up on the answers before meeting them. If their Facebook page shows them rock climbing and ballroom dancing, then they are really doing it. By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve. Awesome! There was a great bike trail that ran the length of Davenport, IA, when I lived there in the late 1970s. I used to ride both my bike (to work) and my Arabian horse (on the weekends) on that trail since it was like riding through the country..through woods on a creek bank, over small wooden bridges, etc.

Christian diet
birdingnut comments on Jul 31, 2018:
It's just a sensible diet, since the people in those times didn't have our processed, GMO or chemical-filled foods. The Bible diet is plant-based, allowing whole grains, beans, legumes, fruits, nuts and seeds, most vegetables. It also includes baked or grilled fish, beef, wild game meats, turkey, chicken, and insects such as grasshoppers, locusts and crickets. No pork is eaten, including sausage, bacon, ham, pork chops, chorizo and pork pepperoni. Also, no refined flour or sugar, such as pastries, candies, ketchup, soft drinks and white breads and pastas. No seafood such as eel, crab, lobster, oysters, shrimp and crawfish, or fried meats and processed meats such as bologna, corned beef and roast beef.
