I'm a demisexual (zero sexual attraction for any person or gender until after well over a year with one person, then only for that one person) and a nonbinary partial transmale. I don't even know my sexual orientation, if any. I am perfectly happy as a single and only want a companion for ballroom dancing and and birding/hiking.

I don't want be chum in the water for trolls, but I'm highly psychic. In fact, in Haiti, my mom used use ESP wake us up in the morning and my siblings and I communicated in ESP as much as by words, confusing people who observed us.
A week ago when I let my brother know by email that I no longer believed in god, a day later, I felt his shock and sorrow. Almost a bewilderment, like a lost child.
This surprised me, until I remembered that in our home growing up I was the stand-in for my mom, who was too busy running a radio station to pay much attention us. My siblings typically told me their problems and looked to me for comfort and support.
Then today, after I told my sister I was done with her, I was fine for about four hours. Then I was hit with her feelings of overwhelming sorrow and regret..sadness, horror, and shock..and realized she'd finally read the email. I am still riding it out, but it's reducing now.
I suppose she's getting used to the idea that she'll never see me again. In my case, that's GOOD..no more of her criticizing me and hanging up the phone rudely on me every time I call, but maybe she enjoyed the power she imagined she had over me with her cold disapproval of almost everything I did.

I just cut two siblings off today for bragging on being Trump supporters. They tried the "forgive and forget" condemnation cliche but I no longer believe that bunch of lies.
Afterward, I felt giddy with relief..GLAD to no longer have to pretend to like them, or to have to see them at family reunions. I just won't go.

I paused to listen and remarked that they were an endangered species. The guy actually said that if a bird is going to go extinct it may as well go ahead and do so, and remove their flawed DNA from the gene pool.
I was too shocked to reply. When we sat down to eat, I asked him what he did and he said he was a developer. He'd buy tracts of forest land, bulldoze it, and build condos. He proudly bragged about how much money he was making.
I was furious, and stood to go. I told him that his destroying the natural habitat of wild birds for his personal gain that people like HIM were what was what's wrong with this world.
He looked up at me and said, "I take it there won't be a second date?"
I said, "You're SO right," and walked out of the restaurant.

Middle aged people usually have had some hard knocks in their romantic endeavors. It depends on one's need for a companion. Some people need to have someone in their lives, so they ignore panic, try not to over think it, and start slow..like with a friendship.
I have to do that anyway, since I'm a demisexual, meaning that I have no sexual attraction for anyone or any gender until after well over a year of close association, and then only for that one person. But I can always take physical love or leave it.
Without lust or loneliness, I have little motivation to pursue relationships, so I just coast along, enjoying my life. Still, I could use a good dance and hiking partner. Some day.
